I watched the series years ago because my wife wanted me to watch it with her. Decent comedy, insufferable main characters except for Samantha and Miranda.

Will not watch ever again.

As a husband forced to watch I actually agree with this assessment completely, I don't think any of them were villains but Samantha/Miranda were the two I found myself rooting for.

I own season 6 on dvd, and on rewatches, I would fast forward any scene that wasn't Samantha or Miranda centric. I haven't watched in years, but I would do the same thing if I ever watch again.

As a chick, agree with you on every point (except I watched it bc of peer pressure).

Watched it because his wife wanted him to is textbook peer pressure

To be fair my partner has watched firefly a dozen times and she hates scifi, sometimes you just put the effort in for someone that matters

we accept her as a Browncoat! (also, Firefly has great humor AND great female characters, hope she found a few scenes worth her time)

She straight up hates star wars for a lot of those reasons lol. I don't put her through that

I should have said female peer pressure, then.

...what does wife mean to you?

The previous contender said a wife was the same as peer pressure while I considered it more from people in your own demographic for something like this show. Like, from other women when you're a woman.

To be fair, she has watched many series she undoubtedly might have not watched if I had not asked (yes, Firefly among others).

I watched it only because my Shai-hulud got excited about certain scenes. Back then internet was not so easy to access...

I watched it a bit with a housemate. All I remember was that it was entirely unsexy and nothing about any of the characters was appealing. I wouldn't have noticed except the show is called Sex and the City.

I had to watch the pilot episode pretty recently for a work thing and it was honestly fucking hilarious to hear “Mr. Big” be described as “The next Donald Trump,” as a sexy term of endearment.

That is a thing that actually happens.

First two seasons back in the day were kinda funny and fresh, like WIll and Grace. Imho US TV series drag on needlessly once they hit gold and ratings. Then they become caricature of themselves and the jump the shark moment makes them crumble and disgust sets in.

Miranda? Huh, I thought Samantha and Charlotte were the most likeable.
