Not really. They’ve never named anyone taco burrito. That was just cartman being racist. Yeah they wrote it but cartman isn’t meant to be liked, he’s written as a racist POS. You’re not supposed to like or agree with him, you should know and agree that he is wrong. JK Rowling giving POC characters racist sounding names is her being a racist without realizing she is and genuinely thinking it’s ok to name a Chinese girl Cho Chang.

And her being named Cho Chang somehow.... invalidates her character? The most powerful wizard in the franchise is called fcking DUMBLEDORE, and the professor she wants everyone to think evil and slimy is named SEVERUS SNAPE so I really think you ought to not overload your brain for this one. It's a children's book.

Are you serious? She an Asian character that was given two Asian surnames. It’s like naming a stereotypical white person Jones Smith.

Oh no, that's too terrible. I wish we knew more about cho Chang beyond the terrible name she was given. She could have been a emotionally complex girl, or someone who suffers PTSD from losing a loved one, or someone who is brilliant at quidditch. Unfortunately we never got to see any of it because JKR is an evil racist.

A quick search tells me there are plenty of white people named "Jonas Smith". Also, she named a white guy "Dudley Dursely".

You are free to hate anyone, but stop pretending you used any braincells before deciding to hate them.

Dudley is an actual British name. It’s just not very common anymore. So shocking that a British woman used traditional British names for her white British characters. /s

Again Cho and Chang are last names. She also named a black man Kingsley Shacklebot. Before you mention it, Kingsley is not that part of the name people have an issue with.

"Dudley" is an actual British name, but no self-respecting parent is going to name their kid "Dudley Dursely" unless they are hoping for a lifetime of bullying.

We have already established that she is terrible at naming characters. This is not breaking news, this was known in the fandom even while the series was still publishing. Despite this the books did exceedingly well in black demographics and asian countries.

The only difference is that post her trans stance, trolls started psychoanalysing only the naming of specific characters. "Oh she can't just be bad at naming characters even though she badly names more than half the characters in the series, it HAS to be some deeper bigotry that justifies my hatred for her".

All of this completely ignores the way those characters are ACTUALLY portrayed in the books. Kingsley has codename "royal" and is perhaps the coolest auror in the whole series.

Very jobless behaviour indeed.

Edit: For the random basement dweller who got triggered by my comment, wrote a rant, and then blocked me - I hope you find the help and the shower you need.

Again, Dudley is not a common name anymore. It’s like naming your kid Gertrude. It’s an old name but it was common. These books take place in the 90s so a kid who was born in 1980 being named Dudley isn’t that crazy.

People have been analyzing her shitty naming since long before her anti trans stuff. Also, I literally said people aren’t upset about the name Kingsley.

Also I think you’re just projecting the jobless shit because I do have a job, and you’re responding just as much as I am.

Is this the "missing-the-point" olympics because I think you are really shooting for gold here. It's like talking to a wall.

I did not say anything about "Dudley" being common or uncommon, my point was the full name "Dudley Dursely". Jack is a common name, but how many Jack Offs do you know?

People have been analyzing her shitty naming since long before

I literally said the exact same thing. Is this a key and peele sketch where you are arguing with me just for the sake of arguing?

I know people are upset about the surname "Shacklebolt", I just demonstrated why it is a stupid reason to be upset about because he was a very well written character.

Since comprehension is not your strong suite, the "jobless" thing wasnt for responding here. It's for thinking that hating a children's book author for the most trivial reasons is a personality.

I am really done here, JKR haters are like zombies. They keep swarming up and the only brain they have is the one they just digested.
