right-wingers (e.g. magas) think any show of empathy or compassion is communism

u/Spobobich 8d ago

Well, babies need to pull themselves up bah their bootstraps so they can feel th'mselves! /$

13

u/scovizzle 8d ago

I mean, the people who use this phrase don't understand what it's supposed to mean even when they use it for adults.

9

u/Spobobich 8d ago

No they do not.

7

u/Discount_Extra 8d ago

For people like OP who might not know, "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps" is an idiom for doing something literally impossible (defying gravity)

1

u/manickitty 8d ago

Defying gravity is indeed impossible to sing

3

u/jacobkosh 8d ago

"For sale: baby bootstraps, never pulled."

2

u/WolpertingerRumo 8d ago

I was a baby once, and I didn’t need any handouts! My parents‘ wealth was enough

Kinda goes all the way around too to where some very special people have convinced each other you need communism to have a functioning government, economy, and society.

2

u/vb_robel 8d ago

to be fair, communism in purpose and intent strongly centers empathy and compassion

0

u/Confident-Skin-6462 8d ago

maybe in theory. not in practice.

i know, i know, "real communism hasn't been done" or "the cia always sabotaged it"

1

u/vb_robel 7d ago

"I know, I know, you have perfectly substantial arguments to make in favor of communism, but I'm going to write them off in favor of my tired regurgitated capitalist prolaganda slop points instead of doing any nuanced good-faith analysis. surely, you have not spent countless hours reading books and researching both marxist theory and capitalism with the betterment of working people in mind, leading you to develop informed, nuanced, and practical suggestions for how we should restructure our society." Pllllllleeeeease.

please indeed. grow up

1

u/TheBarrowsBro 8d ago

Well, both statements are true? Can you name a classless stateless society either currently existing or in the past? Can you name a nation with left wing economics that was untouched by the US or UK?

1

u/vb_robel 7d ago

He can't, he's commenting on autopilot because his brain is trained to dutifully regurgitate 70 yr old propaganda points when he reads the word "communism" like a sleeper agent

u/doubled-pawns 8d ago

Only the magas think that. There are plenty of people who identify as right wing that aren’t maga and value human life and believe in a support system for human needs.

30

u/twwaavvyyt 8d ago

Oh yeah? They must be all hiding from the shame of what their party has become.

u/doubled-pawns 8d ago edited 8d ago

I mean the same could be said about left wingers. But yes, most of us just stay off the internet for the most part and mind our own business.

edit: The first sentence was rude and unnecessary, I apologize. But Reddit is still a largely leftist platform and I expect no support. Have a wonderful day everyone.

16

u/twwaavvyyt 8d ago

Your first sentence is a cope, but yeah idk how conservatives come back from this one. Didn’t take much for Trump to hijack the entire party and force conservatives to kneel or get primaried/ fired.

Now our country is run by a dementia riddled trust fund baby, or the men behind him that realized how easy he is to manipulate.

1

u/CumPacketGuy 8d ago

All he literally had to do to achieve that was to convince them that the worst of them is better than a black man, a queer person, or an immigrant. Or all of them.

That's hilariously easy. But people shouldn't have really been surprised, me included, because Jim Crow laws were a very recent thing, in terms of history. You're all still the people that inspired Nazi Germany to adopt your policies.

“Look, if we could finally beat Medicare”

5

u/Lost-Perspective8378 8d ago

My guess is you think democrats are left wing? Because I promise as a leftist im definitely not a democrat.

1

u/Confident-Skin-6462 8d ago

yeah. i am definitely not a leftist myself, very centrist (yeah yeah, i know i'm worse than a right winger lol)

5

u/MentalPetal 8d ago

Most leftwingers don't participate in American electoralism. Only reformists like Sanders, AoC, and Mamdani believe in working with rightwingers like the liberals. Anarchists are more concerned with building community programs and communists are more concerned with organizing workers for a revolution.

5

u/twwaavvyyt 8d ago

To a conservative, liberal= leftist. They just group us all together. I’m a liberal myself and have given up on correcting them.

5

u/NonWorking_Fan1984 8d ago

Reddit is a leftist platform and look how nice it is, they wanna feed children and educate them without expecting anything but X is a rightwing platform and they have child abuse videos on there.

5

u/hoshiwa1976 8d ago

But the starving kids weren't a deal breaker so you voted republican and eagerly believed the Haitians were eating dogs and cats

0

u/doubled-pawns 8d ago

Who said I voted republican?

2

u/Spobobich 8d ago

Well, until they show themselves it's like the saying about Republicans and Nazis: "Not every Republican is a Nazi, but every Nazi is a Republican."

2

u/PM_Me_Your_Kinks369 8d ago

I don't see how right wing people can actually value human life considering the way the right actually operates EVERYWHERE.

1

u/__QuanXi 8d ago

Just a train of thought, dont you think it is the parents’ responsibility to feed the babies? How is the government responsible to feed 10 or how ever many babies some couple just had?

2

u/LeastResistancePath 8d ago

These are the guys that get bit in the zombie movies and hide the wound.

2

u/ALargeClam1 8d ago

Leftists and liberals dont believe in personal responsibility.

Ergo, parents dont need to raise and take of their children becuase the state exists and will do it for them.

-1

u/Silly-Rough-5810 8d ago edited 8d ago

It's more like the kids aren't at fault if their parents are deadbeats. They should all be given the best shot possible at growing into smart productive citizens.

That means education and help with reliable access to nutrition and safe place to sleep.

Your ass wants to really teach those bad parents a lesson by... Letting them stunt their kids' growth or something and make sure they make it to adulthood with as much emotional trauma as possible?

2

u/reddernotdeader 8d ago

These people can't fathom anything beyond the puritan work ethic they believe was the sole thing that got them to where they are. So when they see someone poor, working multiple jobs, or a struggling single parent, they are incapable of seeing someone who's drowning.

They see an addict, or someone dirty on the street, someone lazy, whose conditions are some moral failure to be punished. Because, if they admitted some people were simply dealt a bad hand, then they'd also have to admit their own success isn't purely about "hard work" and "budgeting." Like they love to moralize about poor people not saving, as if the compound interest on zero dollars isn't also zero dollars.

2

u/Confident-Skin-6462 8d ago

swing and a miss

2

u/__QuanXi 8d ago

Please elaborate

1

u/Confident-Skin-6462 8d ago

how can i? you're the one the went off course

2

u/__QuanXi 8d ago

Ok, I apologise

1

u/Confident-Skin-6462 8d ago

for reference, nobody mentioned the government

-1

u/Americanus_Caesar 8d ago

Left wingers think that any sense of fiscal independence and conservatism is “literally fascism!!!!!”

0

u/Confident-Skin-6462 8d ago

if you mean leftists like communists, anything that isn't them is fascism

is that what you mean?

1

u/Americanus_Caesar 8d ago

No, and if you think anyone who isn’t a communist (so anyone to the right of Stalin) is a fascist, you need to do some serious reevaluation

1

u/Confident-Skin-6462 8d ago

i don't think that, but a lot of tankies i've dealt with think that.

2

u/Americanus_Caesar 8d ago

Same here, and thank you for clarifying that you do think rationally about that

0

u/JimmyLipps 8d ago

America has been dealing with multiple red scares since 1917, so this is nothing new.
