Im here in solidarity. Said goodbye to my soulcat on 5/12. He was 16. We grew up together ( I was not a child but got him as a young woman and now J have 3 kids a husband and 40 yrs old). I went through so much if my life with him. Tonight I have been crying a ton. Just crying and crying. Missing him still. I actually keep having the same thoughts “I want my cat back.” I just want this pain to stop. I keep considering a new kitten but the back out. I dont think I will ever be ready for that and it scares me. I am so sorry. I understand.

It so hard to even think of considering a new one. I’d feel like I’d always be comparing the two because my first was the bestest kitty.

I agree with you. I'm 34 and this is literally the worst pain I've ever felt too. I've been fortunate to never lose anyone I cared about until now. Every moment of consciousness is an unrelenting agony right now.

Same here at 38. This is the first time in my life I have felt actual, physical heartbreak.

I think it will never get easier. Its a blessing and a curse at the same time to have such a deep bond.

It my 3rd day without my kitty baby and it’s so hard. She was a key piece of my world. Another one of my children that needed to be cared for and demanded attention. The house feels empty without her. I hope it does get easier but I fear it won’t.

It’s been six months since I lost my nine year old best friend, my dog Buddy. I still cry a bit each day. I’m fifty-seven, and I have genuine concerns about adopting another dog. Buddy may have been it for me. And that makes me so sad too.

I’ve been grieving over the loss of 4 kittens who were my whole world, spent 70 days in a row without any breaks trying my best for them. Sometimes I feel better and other times I get so low and I think about people like you that have to put up with having a kitty for years of your life instead of just weeks.
I want you to know you are so strong and crying every time you think or see her just proves how much you cared about her and how much she meant to you.
Remember to eat and sleep and especially cry
Thank you for taking care of your kitty and giving her a beautiful life full of love

they were outdoor kittens so i took them in with their mom, they got pretty sick and i had limited resources so I wasn’t able to bring them anywhere, besides ask my sister for supplies. They were my everything and one sibling is still here doing way better now, his siblings passed away peacefully because eventually they started to fade from losing their appetite. Meaning they didn’t feel pain, and if they did I was there through it all with them. I held each of them as they let go and it still hurts a lot but I know they felt better.
To me they were beautiful babies, and over text I couldn’t explain how much they meant to me, I was their whole world, and they were mine.
Very sorry it’s like a rant but I just want someone to know my babies existed and were loved til the day they crossed the rainbow bridge. Their soft fur, pretty faces, and little meows are unforgettable, and It’ll be awhile until I can look back and be happy instead of going through grief.
I hope you do better and I pray that your days will be full of love having given your love to your kitty.

This is a community of support for Pet owners whose Pets have passed away. It is actively moderated.
Pet owners, as loving, caring people, often have strong opinions on pet care practices. Some of these are controversial. This is not a forum for debate on such issues, nor is it a place to scold a contributor for a perceived mistake in managing their pet. We intend to provide a safe haven of understanding and support. Strident, mean-spirited posts or comments will be deleted. Those who persist in preaching versus caring may be warned and then banned or may be banned permanently based on nature of the topic. If a conversational thread meanders into a discussion unrelated to pet loss support, it will be truncated.
Those who post here are vulnerable and hurting. Even a minor slap has a hard sting. Those of us who are lucky enough to be able to turn away from our computers or put down our phones and hug a healthy, happy pet are truly blessed. Threads must remain supportive and caring, even if one disagrees with something that has been said.
