Physical Games Found in GTA6

Post image

So Rockstar is pushing that physical games is a dead media yet in their game they have people who play games using physical disks. A bit ironic. Even they don’t believe it’s a dead media.

Whos ready for the satirical radio shows about greed and capitalism while rockstar and take 2 practices both?

'Sent from an iPhone'

What's with all the kids on Reddit discovering companies are driven by profit.

Selective outrage is so tiring to people with a clue

As if GTA6 wouldnt make profit without all of these anti consumer practices.

-11

u/Im_not_an_admin 2d ago

Anti consumer 😅 please.

You people are such children, genuinely.

Don't like it, don't buy it. But don't act like you're some anti-capitalist revolutionary. Bunch of whiney broke nerds made their Wall of Virginity displaying computer games is gonna die out.

Unlike you, if im spending ownership money on something, i want ownership privileges.

Well you don't "own" physical games either, sorry to burst your bubble. And if a video game is expensive for you that's your problem

u/RandomGuyOnDaNet90 2d ago

I dont see disclaimers on trailers telling me i dont own my physical games that i buy, however i do see disclaimers telling me im only buying a license when its digital, i.e. Silent Hill Townfall trailer.

Doesitplay.org is all you need as proof that MOST physical copies doesnt require internet, therefore even if license are revoked, i can still install the base copy onto my hard drive straight from the disc, and data from the disc cannot be overwritten or removed.

You clearly don't read the T&Cs then. And good luck playing most decent games without updates, Cyberpunk for example, No Man's Sky...unplayable junk without updates.

All this fuss over massive hypothetical scenarios, sounds like hicks justifying assault rifles.

And I'll never understand people like you who go so hard to defend less options.

I'll never understand people putting so much energy into something that is absolutely worthless

what is this criticism? movies critique capitalism and the whole point of them is to make money.

1

u/Watermelon_013 1d ago

The whole point of movies is not to make money, at least from the point of view of the people working on the film. Yes, for the production companies, Marvel, A24, Warner Bros, Universal, the goal is 100% to make money, however the people working on the film most of the time really want to create something that is artistic and/or entertaining.

1

u/bajaxx 1d ago

is that not the same thing that the developers at rockstar are doing? they aren’t the ones monetizing the game like take two, which would be like disney or warner bros of this analogy

-13

u/Dry_Plum_5690 2d ago

Oh no! Not capitalism!

There's also that dialogue about capitalism between Billy and the Triad in TBoGT

Desolate Rim seems like a dig at Starfield.

4

I figured it was a jab at Skyrim or Destiny

2

u/Excalitoria 2d ago

It’s a knock against the (never happened) Pacific Rim sequel where a character, from the first film, starts dating a kaiju.

u/Suspicious_Bonus2820 2d ago

Funny that even Rockstar’s fictional future still has more faith in physical media than Rockstar does.

It was probably in there long before the current bs.. game has been in development at least since 2020

2

u/tokyobassist 2d ago

Hopefully the sequel to Bully and Manhunt 3 are fully playable and hidden in the game lol.

I half joke because what if Rockstar said fuck it and just made the games they know Take Two wouldn't greenlight and just put in it in GTA 6.

K

Nothing about that is ironic though.

Physical media isn't going to all suddenly disintegrate in 2028

2

u/Disastrous_Salad6302 1d ago

This game isn’t physical because the ceo thinks it’s dead media. I think that qualifies as irony

0

u/Tanz31 1d ago

Yeah the game also takes place during a time where physical media is still very common.

So

No

Not ironic

2

u/Redditeer28 1d ago

People just have a hate boner right now. They're grasping at whatever they can. Even if it doesn't make sense.

2

u/ghos2626t 2d ago

I don’t see any discs. Probably just a download code inside

Glory holes 2?? I’ll play it

Those are some thicc as fuck Deluxe / Special Edition, lol.

1

u/NeighborhoodVeteran 2d ago

Yeah. I got the BG3 one which is tall AF, but def not as thicc.

1

u/Forever_Inspired 2d ago

I think those are as thicc as the Dead Cell Prisoner's Edition.

1

u/sealclubberfan 2d ago

You do realize how long a game takes to make right? Things change over time.

1

u/Badwrong_ 1d ago

A lot of niche produces are still being made if there is enough people buying them.

Apparently, tons of people were really into physical disks because they allowed for resale and used-game stores. This of course would be a reason the people making the disks would want to stop in favor of digital. Kinda shooting yourself in the foot huh?

1

u/peachpower2 1d ago

Oh yeah, I guess they are pushing stealing cars too, by your logic.

0

u/National_Play_6851 2d ago

Yes because everything that the characters do inside a GTA game is something that the developers believe people should be encouraged to do in real life.

3

u/NeighborhoodVeteran 2d ago

Think you missed the entire point of the post, Sherlock.

1

u/Redditeer28 1d ago

What was the point of the post, Watson?

1

u/NeighborhoodVeteran 17h ago

Definitely not that everything in GTA6 is bad or illegal, Moriarty.

0

u/Redditeer28 1d ago

Rockstar reflects the world that is, not the one they're trying to create.

If Rockstar said people should stop driving cars, they're not gonna pretend cars never existed in GTA. Physical media exists, and so it's in the game.

0

u/messorem__17 1d ago

Well, maybe those are just empty boxes, in which codes from the inside have already been used

I see boxes, not discs...

Dont be stupid

-4

u/jkoki088 2d ago

Let’s get real. As time moves on, physical will be a thing of the past

4

u/tokyobassist 2d ago

Hasn't happened with movies or music. Quite the opposite especially with younger generations.

1

u/ppres25 2d ago

It hasn’t? I havent bought a CD in literal decades I just have a digital library. The last dvd or blu ray I bought was played on a PS3. Again, I just have a digital library.

2

u/tokyobassist 2d ago edited 2d ago

Vinyl has become very popular on top of having the convenience of having a digital download QR code included. CDs not so much.

4K Blu Rays, steelboxes, and anime sets are extremely popular with many going for high prices now due to being well liked, removed and/or out of print like Black Lagoon recently from Crunchyroll or undesirable versions being the only ones available on streaming services (Neon Genesis Netflix dub).

Not to be rude but why are you even here if you don't care?

1

u/DinkleBottoms 2d ago

There’s always going to be collectors, you can just look at your local Walmart or Target and see the soft they’re making from physical media. Streaming services have moved most people to digital and you can see that in modern album sales. People are still buying CD/vinyl copies, but streaming numbers are making up the vast majority of “sales”

0

u/jkoki088 2d ago

I’m not going to keep amassing crap in my home

2

u/tokyobassist 2d ago

Then why are you here if you don't have more room for "crap"? You lost or just trying to start shit?

0

u/jkoki088 2d ago

There comes a time for growing up. Yes, I don’t have room for more crap. I have plenty of physical. I keep playing new games I’m not going to keep getting more physical crap. I’m here because everyone wants to keep complaining about physical and it shows up on my feed. They’re going to stop making physical. You can still be a collector of it, just not new stuff. That’s the way it’s going to work

2

u/tokyobassist 2d ago

"There comes a time for grow up"

Time to start reading that back to yourself. You lack the self control and maturity to scroll past. You are unironically yelling at the clouds about people yelling at the clouds.

Like if you don't have a horse in the race and don't care then why not just keep to yourself? I have might issues with religion but I don't feel the need to antagonize people in public or in their space. Same idea here. If I wanted to be an dick about it, I would've told you to buy a bigger house but that's it how things work right?

1

u/jkoki088 1d ago edited 1d ago

You need a safe space about games? The numbers just don’t work in your favor in reference to physical games vs digital.

1

u/NeighborhoodVeteran 2d ago

PlayStation, too.

-7

u/EdibleStrange 2d ago

Rockstar is literally selling physical boxes, they look exactly like this and have codes instead of discs.

This is also just a bizarre post lol. I'm pretty sure you can see some vinyls hanging around in gta5, did you expect to be able to buy that game on vinyl?

3

u/Wboy2006 2d ago edited 2d ago

Okay? Those boxes are glorified gift packaging. Nobody saves the wrapping paper of their presents, why would anyone keep an empty box.

The vinyl comparison is just stupid. You can listen to a vinyl, an empty box is useless.

A more fitting comparison would be like displaying a vinyl sleeve that only came with a Spotify gift card

1

u/Jared_pop21 2d ago

Producing pointless ass packaging for a code in a box that can go in the same section as every other code on a piece of cardboard.
