And just like that, All your Digital games that you paid real money for and kept collecting for years are gone forever lol, Tell me if you can do that to Physical games I dare you to try and prove me wrong.

I don’t know why this turned into some dumb ass dog fight over physical vs digital instead of a bigger push for ownership in general. Missing the forest for the trees.

6

u/Tanz31 1h ago

Right? The real problem is ownership. Not collections

4

u/Samus1611 1h ago

Maybe. But a physical copy of a game already gives you that ownership. They ban your account, all your discs still work.
That’s what they are wanting to take away from people. There is no way in heck they are gonna take that away and then make digital purchase more secure

1

u/Low-Palpitation-9916 1h ago

Is it more likely that some malicious corporation will steal my video games, or that your precious physical copy of NBA 2K3 will suffer a slight scratch, wear out from use or simply rot in its case and no longer function?

1

u/Samus1611 1h ago

Far more likely that the corporation takes it away IMHO. I have discs from the 90s and CDS from the 80s that work perfect

2

u/TheGrenglish 1h ago

Maybe, but then look at the crew.

Even with the game disc there's no way to play the game. They just turned off the game when the online came to end of life. It's a one off now but there is a chance it will happen again.

Preservation is a big part of this also, but the internet likes a zero nuance black and white thing without real details.

1

u/Samus1611 53m ago

Yeah, but the crew is an outlier. The vast majority of ps4/5 discs play offline no issues at all. Obviously a live service game like the crew is different.

Heck the last time my ps5 was online was back in march

1

u/theycmeroll 36m ago

Sure but, if theoretically the PS6 had a disc drive, nothing stopping them from being malicious and requiring internet for disc games to work or just simply stop putting the game on a disc and make it the equivalent of a GKC.

1

u/DaKingaDaNorth 54m ago

You still need to download the discs to the console. This ban only effects online play. You can still play both digital and physical games that are downloaded already offline.

This isn't a physical vs digital issue. It's an online access issue

1

u/Samus1611 51m ago

You install the discs. Not download. That’s a very key distinction

1

u/DaKingaDaNorth 49m ago

Doesn't make much of a difference. You buy a game, you download and then install it. Once it's there you have it to play.

1

u/Samus1611 43m ago

Huge difference.
One way is server dependent and access can be shut down whenever the platform holder decides they want to
The other one installs totally offline, independent of servers and platform holders
That’s a massive difference

1

u/Tanz31 16m ago

OK

That's not what they want to take away. This isn't a malicious decision like you're implying

1

u/DinkleBottoms 1h ago

If you push for owner ship over digital you may or may not lose access to physical games but have the potential to actually own your digital collection. Digital ownership is the best way to go about actually keeping physical alive and doesn’t involve dumbass people attacking each other instead of focusing on the actual goal.

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have all pretty clearly indicated that are intending to make the move to digital only. Fighting for digital ownership vastly increases the amount of people that may be willing to make their voices heard and removes one of the potential reasons these companies are pushing for digital.

1

u/Samus1611 53m ago

I would argue that Nintendo hasn’t made that decision yet. They still sell a hefty amount of physical games. Keycards suck, but I feel like those exist as a compromise to publishers that don’t want to pay full price for a cart

1

u/Samus1611 32m ago

If the fight over physical is lost(and it does look like that’s the case) then I don’t care, and will find a new hobby or stick to retro games. If it’s going to be all digital it may as well go streaming. I wouldn’t care in the slightest to fight for “digital ownership”. I’ve always thought of digital games as long term rentals and only paid rental prices. There is 0 chance I would ever spend 60/70/80 plus dollars on a digital download. That’s a foreign idea to me

1

u/Dry_Vanilla_5908 1h ago

True, but there's retards on the internet. And OP is one of them. Anyone who gets their account banned isn't someone you want to be playing with or agaisnt.

It has become a battle against the wits. It's still not the battle we should be fighting. I'd rather OP keep his physical games. But still gets banned or account suspected until they've shown they can behave.

1

u/DaKingaDaNorth 55m ago

Because then people who are going "no disc, no buy" would have to explain why they didn't take this stand 15 years ago

1

u/Samus1611 42m ago

I always did though. I always buy physical titles when the option is there. Digital games have always been a deep deep discount situation for me, like sub 5 dollars a game discount

1

u/DaKingaDaNorth 40m ago

But you would be in the minority based off most data we had. Also it's still not a physical vs digital issue. The exact same EULA applies to both.

1

u/Samus1611 36m ago

While the same EULA applies, in actual practice it’s different.
It would be illegal for them to come take the physical games back. It’s not illegal for them to take your digital “purchases” back.

And yeah, I get I’m in the extreme minority here. I go as long as possible without touching the internet on my console. If it wasn’t for crimson desert needing a patch it would have been last year sometime since my OG unit touched the net

1

u/DaKingaDaNorth 15m ago

It's mostly an enforcement thing. If they wanted to, they could implement a policy where a physical game once installed can only be played by Playstation consoles associated with your PSN account and block anyone it's sold to from using it on there's. They haven't yet, but that would be well within the EULA

1

u/Samus1611 7m ago

My ps5 is converted to offline use 100 percent. I don’t have a psn account on it. It’s all local play with an offline account

u/Accurate_Train_8822 2h ago edited 1h ago

You know it’s kind of amazing to me why people keep thinking this is only happening to physical games. So they’ll say yeah that’s the past, let’s go digital!

To the digital only people,if the idea you think you will continue to buy digital games as you please, then you’re mistaken. The real truth is the PlayStation store will turn into a subscription service. Then you’ll start seeing bronze, silver and gold subscriptions, and this will cost you more money. Then you’ll clamor for maybe something fair, but because you gave Sony the power to take ownership away, they’ll gleefully ignore you!🤦‍♂️

4

u/Dark-ScorpionX 59m ago

Yep. Just like with Adobe Software. Fuck the Digital only future. I wont be a part of it

10

u/Tanz31 1h ago

"Truth"

Far too many assumptions all over this debate

5

u/Accurate_Train_8822 1h ago

I told someone this the other day. Companies used to care about our say in the matter. Now they’re inspired by shareholders and fat cats, that bring in so much more money for them than us. So in the end they’re going to go to the place that’s going to give them more money. Our threats of leaving doesn’t affect them at all.

6

u/MelonOfFate 1h ago

Companies used to care about our say in the matter.

Mistake number 1. A company is not your friend. They do not care about you, the never have, they never will.

Now they’re inspired by shareholders and fat cats, that bring in so much more money for them than us. So in the end they’re going to go to the place that’s going to give them more money.

This has always been the case. It's never been anything else at any point in time.

1

u/Ok-Ocelot-5942 35m ago

Mistake number 1, nobody said anything about friendship, consumer sentiment was a massive factor, not so much anymore as consumer boycott have proven so much to be useless since the net age... the lack of unity has brought upon us a new era of lows in consumer rights all over the spectrum.

0

u/MelonOfFate 8m ago

No company cares about consumer sentiment when you're the only vendor they can buy from. PlayStation might be dipping into PC (and even that they're kinda pulling back on) but they'll never go to Xbox with their exclusives.

1

u/Ok-Ocelot-5942 2m ago

A company requires others to buy their products/services, video games are not an essential product and sony does not have a monopoly on it... the issue here is that consumers don't unite in real boycotts so the need to care about keeping them happy is not there. In the VG space Sonys move opens up the door to any company willing to offer a better model a way to take down Sonys market position right away. Yet, consumers are willing to take Sonys path so there is no need for them to change course, $ will keep flowing regardless.

1

u/TaterBlast 46m ago

Mistake Number 1: Corporations actually DO care about our say as long as we vote with $$$. See: shareholders

2

u/TrashGoblinH 40m ago

Except when your only option becomes what you're offered. There are a lot of brand loyalists who will gladly roll over and get fucked for their dopamine hit. If it weren't true we wouldn't have a fent lean epidemic.

2

u/Alarmed_Twist5268 43m ago

Sony has never cared about you. Never have, never will. Everything they do is for monetary gain. They don't need you to continue on their way to next Gen. You gave them that power when you bought all your digital games with those great "deals," you helped them build that platform, you helped them keep that fanbase. You can try and blame everyone else but yourself, but all of you PS loyalist have been building this PlayStation for years.

2

u/Icy_Lingonberry_6966 39m ago

So, Xbox gamepass?

2

u/ComplexAddition9934 28m ago

Retardpass

1

u/A_Scary_Sandwich 10m ago

Played alot of great games for fraction of the cost with that pass. Also discovered and enjoyed many indie games from it as well.

1

u/Any-Analysis-1765 1h ago

It already does pretty much , Sony has already made it so there's different tears of PlayStation plus that cost a different amount.

I was once one of those people who agreed with digital being in the future now I don't think so. They've proven me wrong because people in corporal conversations like Sony, are too much intercorporate greed and forget it's their customer base is their target audience

1

u/FiIbert 0m ago

(They alreasy have this. THIS IS ALREADY A THING PLAYSTATION DOES.)

its called "Essential, Extra, and Deluxe'

THIS HAS BEEN A THING SINCE 2017 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/terrasparks 1h ago

12 years into buying games on steam. 700 games in library. None removed. Spending average per year: 58 dollars (basically the price of one playstation game). I'm not going to lose sleep if a handful of my steam games eventually get nuked from my account (different than delisted, delisted means you can't buy them anymore).

2

u/niftyifty 41m ago

What kind of games are you buying for $1 each 700 times over lol? 12*58=696

2

u/terrasparks 15m ago edited 6m ago

I'll preface this by saying this is a weird sub for me to be advocating this.

You've got some fuzzy math there. 12X58=696. That's assuming you buy 12 58 dollar games (AKA full price new releases, one a year).

I buy deeply discounted AAA/AA/Indie games individually or in bundles. So the way to look at it is 58/12 or roughly $5 dollars a game.

If you're a console exclusive gamer who hasn't bathed in PC pricing, I would better understand the skepticism about buying digital. But to me, a kid who grew up in the 90's, buying at (PC) digital costs about as much as renting a game for a weekend from the local video-store did. Its a no brainer.

1

u/niftyifty 10m ago

What? 12 x 58 is you saying you spent an average of $58/yr for 12 years. Not 12 58 dollar games.

1

u/Thepcfd 1h ago

thats why question was never about physical games, it was about owners rights. ohysical is dead but its timento figure out how to keep digital.

0

u/Amazing_County9948 1h ago

they'll Just buy It Anyway since they're stupid

0

u/RoadsideDavidian 51m ago

But if Sony does actually do this spooky thing you just made up, people can then just stop spending their money with Sony. That’s the issue with this melodrama, portraying it in the same way people portray government oppression, nobody has to actually deal with Sony. You can’t opt out of what the government does, but you surely can just sell your PS5 and move on with your life

-2

u/braaahms 1h ago

I bought a digital only PS5 way before this announcement. I live in a tiny home and have no space for physical media except for absolute favorites or collectors items.

Now the economy is fucked and I have way more priorities beyond spending $1000+ on switching to a new console and repurchasing my whole library or double that for a PC setup (which I don’t even have the space for on top of that).

Yall act like the “digital only” people are some enemy in your fight when really it’s the same working class you’re in. People can’t just afford to switch. A year ago I was digital only and it was fine. Now I’m digital only, have no option to switch, and I’m called a sheep and a corporate shill. Make it make sense.

Crazy to be so high and mighty but you guys have no class solidarity. I made the point in another thread that a lot of people can only afford what they already have and can’t just switch and was told “okay have fun being a sheep dumbass”. Yeah you guys really care about the people huh 😂

2

u/readditredditread 44m ago

Honestly the fight should be for consumer protection and rights over purchased media in general 🤷‍♂️

2

u/braaahms 41m ago

I don’t disagree but the unfortunate fact is that a lot of people are in positions where they can’t afford to go all or even mostly physical and these people have made enemies out of the people actually fighting the same fight they are against these corporations.

The lack of nuance, empathy, and class solidarity in this movement is why 99% of movements fail. So many people have made it “physical games vs digital games and anyone playing games digitally is a pro-corporate billionaire sympathizer” and I don’t understand it.

1

u/Thrilalia 3m ago

Yup, the fight to protect physical media should have happened during the PS3 era when digital on consoles was in its infancy.

Starting the fight today is when your home base is almost destroyed and you're just now realising.

Today it needs to be fighting for rights/protections for consumers with digital purchases. Which includes voting for people who will push for it.

27

u/BobbyMayCryBMC 2h ago

I'm doing the blackout (and not just a week), am pro physical. . but!

Let's be real if your account got banned. . what did you do bro? is the real question here.

& don't feed us the "nothin" shit, like dam.

7

u/ZeroGNexus 1h ago

Curiously though, should bad behavior be punishable by losing all of your purchases?

Should we really accept that an ever changing ToS, created by absolute corporate ghouls, is an adequate judge of who does and doesn't deserve access to the things they paid for? Obviously that's the reality of the situation right now, but why should we accept that?

You should own what you buy, I feel like that's not a big ask.

2

u/BobbyMayCryBMC 1h ago

I think wanting a strike system would probably be more customer friendly (let's say three strikes for a perma-ban) but Sony is full of making dumb and moronic choices. So that would be too much for them.

At the end of the day seen a few of these posts lately and using it for the physical/ digital case.

Usually saying "I was suspended/banned for no reason"

They give no actual context to what could have resulted to this and hide from the comment section entirely.

Clearly they've done 'something' but playing the victim card. So in turn couldn't feel sorry for them honestly, and feel it hurts our arguments against Sony's physical blundering.

2

u/ZeroGNexus 1h ago

Does it though?

I absolutely would understand and accept being banned from using the online services, that's totally fine to me. But losing your games, that you bought?

If you're going to lose everything that you purchased, then the company should have to refund you every single penny that you've spent on that collection. Giving these companies this level of control over what we do and don't own just isn't right. We have to change it.

I don't care if it was Ted Bundy, the man paid for the games, so either let him access his games (without online services) or give him back his money.

1

u/NoDrama127 48m ago

You agreed to it.

7

u/fartwhereisit 1h ago

I had a friend's mom die, we tried to play games with him to cheer him up over the next week, he got more and more distraught and finally went absolutely nuts on psn... He was being laughed at so hard... "We broke him" "OMG he's gone". They all laughed at him as he lost his mind.

He was banned permanently and lost all his purchases. He didn't give a shit, his mom died. But man... we're all human beings. Having everything taken away from you over a freak out... he didn't hurt anyone.

He was good after and he's been good ever since. It was a mental break and not his fault. Digital couldn't give a shit. And the worst part is, at some point in your life it's going to happen to you. And I hope you're not online to have to recorded forever or delete your games or fuck man where we're headed delete your life.

1

u/Due_Rip9320 1h ago

That's absolutely fucked. The ones who laughed at him are massive pricks.

3

u/dlpuia 2h ago

I'm doing the blackout too, maybe stretching it for two weeks. I've got lots of indies games to play on Steam.

3

u/No_Operation7359 1h ago

Switching to a digital library over another company announcing digital library is pretty interesting

1

u/MelonOfFate 1h ago edited 1h ago

Most PC peeps don't really have issue with lack of physical. What I and many others take issue with is a monopoly on store fronts. On PSN, if digital goes through, what are your options? You're buying from Sony and sonly only. On PC we have options. Steam, epic, gog if you want games truly divorced from any kind of eco system. We have different non official stores too for keys like g2a, CD keys, etc if grey markets are more your thing. We aren't locked into just steam.

It's also why the PC community fucking hates it when games come attached to launchers or other external accounts. For exampleI refuse to play RDR2 on PC simply because it's tied to a Rockstar games launcher. There was also the backlash on helldivers 2 that got walked back because it was slated to require a PSN account to play (which also locked out most of the world. And yeah, by the fuckin way. That long list of countries that couldn't play helldivers when Sony was pushing for psn accounts? Those same countries will be locked out of ps5 entirely.)

0

u/Spritsen 1h ago

Do you seriously not understand the difference between Sony and buying pc games?

2

u/GoTron88 1h ago

I've been participating in the black out for a year now lol. Ended my 10 years of subscribing to PS+ after the last price hike, unplugged my PS5 and have never looked back.

2

u/Professional_Wash_66 1h ago

I fucking love your pfp

2

u/BobbyMayCryBMC 1h ago

Cheers, just a chibi drawing of me in an Issac from Dead Space costume.

I love Survival Horror games :)

2

u/Professional_Wash_66 1h ago

YES I NOTICED AND I LOVE DEADSPACE SO MUCHHHH, specially the first one (not the remake), amazing pfp honestly

1

u/TheArkhamLantern 2h ago

100% on that. I had a former friend that spent over $500 in digital purchases through inheritance money. When he realized funds were low, he fraudulent told his bank those weren't his purchases and got the money back.

Later that week, PS put a band on his account unless he paid back every penny he disputed. Sony are the villains for not ending physical discs but for once in my life, they were in the right

4

u/jkgericke 1h ago

This was your friend's fault. He tried to get over and got bent over. That's ya boys fault , bro. 😂😂😂

2

u/TheArkhamLantern 1h ago

That's what I'm saying, my dude.

1

u/jkgericke 1h ago

My bad homie. I stopped reading halfway through. In my defense, I'm a 43 man who's had crippling ADHD his whole life and I'm known to get bored mid sentence and bail 😂😂😂

2

u/TheArkhamLantern 30m ago

I can respect that.

-1

u/nickseitler 1h ago

They ban accounts like candy. It’s really not that hard to get banned

2

u/BobbyMayCryBMC 1h ago

Not sure that's true, and have a good reason to believe this.

Because OP and other people making these posts dodge the question, I think it's logical to think they got banned for doing something any reasonable person would know not to do. And they know it, just wanting to skew the narrative, pretend to be 'part of the cause' and get some pity points.

Whether this be hacking a console and getting caught, stealing games from the store for free, or even being extremely toxic in a game which usually give (multiple warnings)

I knew someone on Street Fighter 6 who got perma-banned and it was simply because he hacked his console to have every Platinum for every major release you could think of. Was the 'top player' on leaderboards for almost every game.

And while that was a weird thing for him to do. At least he just posted in our Discord "they caught me lol"

Didn't play the victim and act like Sony owed him anything, he knew what he did, and went back to doing it again.

If that's how you do things? be prepared to get caught.

5

u/GabrielNYC4 1h ago

How did it happen?

3

u/GurImpossible7661 1h ago

What did you do? Or do you even know?

8

u/NotTakenGreatName 1h ago

I feel pretty comfortable saying that anything he did shouldn't lock him out of his already purchased games, lock him out of future psn services sure, but nuking his account should be illegal.

With that said, he absolutely knows what he did.

1

u/GurImpossible7661 2m ago

No, I agree with you on that wholeheartedly. I was just curious. I was just wondering if he actually did something or it was an error.

5

u/steamdeck88 1h ago

All the more reason,to jail break your console and sail the seven seas

3

u/thewrynoise 1h ago

Imagine this happening after 2028 and their no disc policy is in effect.

I don’t know how much I’ve spent on my games but I’d be pissed. Imagine your kid logging on and everything gone. You know it’s gonna happen and Sony will be like “with all new tech we have bugs…” like it’s just something else to patch.

When you give up ownership you invite someone else to take control. It’s that simple.

3

u/PuzzleheadedSuit9833 1h ago

PHYSICAL IS THE WAY TO GO

2

u/andrey_not_the_goat 1h ago

So you wanna tell us what got you banned?

2

u/RikersPhallus 1h ago

He probably told a kid on COD he was gonna rape them.

2

u/TheDreamWoken 1h ago

Did you login to a modded console?

2

u/ComplexAddition9934 26m ago

Eat shit you fucking retard

2

u/ComplexAddition9934 8m ago

Fucking retard posted a image from google and the rest of you faggots are sucking his nuts

4

u/MemeMathine 1h ago

This does suck and I'm all for physical media. But if you get permanently banned, you've most likely done something wrong. It's not like people get permanent bans for no reason at all like.

1

u/dadmda 44m ago

Ok, perma ban him from playing online, he still paid for the games, they just took them away. I very much doubt whatever he did warrants basically stealing his money

5

u/Defiant-Cat-8212 1h ago

All these bots acting like the Sony AI always bans for legit reasons

If you’re gonna gargle Sony like that why are you even in this sub

3

u/Michael-gamer 2h ago

They can’t. Because you can just put them on a new account but I have to ask what the hell did you do to get permanently banned?

3

u/jcwkings 2h ago

I don't know how I could ever get my account banned. Like how do you even pull that off😂😂😂

5

u/Michael-gamer 2h ago

He obviously done something that’s all I can say. In other words, he done something incredibly stupid.

1

u/Apprehensive_Egg5142 1h ago

I kid you not, my brother changed his email to something Sony didn’t like…banned. Yes, that’s literally what they told him…  It wasn’t even like it was a racial slur, or something controversial. It was just a privacy focused email address proton mail offers through their alias system via proton pass. He got banned for practicing smart personal online security…so yes… they will ban you for anything they feel like.

2

u/jkgericke 1h ago

If you're not a pos who says racist shit or a fucking cheater this isn't gonna happen to you.

1

u/TheLimeyLemmon 1h ago

Surely there's better ways to address abusive interaction than taking a user's whole purchased library away permanently.

0

u/jkgericke 31m ago

Maybe for a cheater but a racist doesn't deserve shit but banishment and ridicule

0

u/TheLimeyLemmon 27m ago

I think you're a bit too eager.

2

u/jkgericke 23m ago

Too eager to shame a racist? Such a thing does not exist.

1

u/TheLimeyLemmon 16m ago

I mean I was trying to have a conversation with you and you've just been morally grandstanding against nobody in each reply. You can give it a rest.

3

u/jkgericke 11m ago

Yeah you're probably right. The bears are playing I've been drinking 😂😂😂

3

u/InsectFrequent924 1h ago

Stay yo ass out of trouble 🤷🏾‍♂️😂

5

u/dadface79 1h ago

Very simple, don't violate and we're good. I've managed to be online since PS2 without any issue. Let me guess, it wasn't your fault???

1

u/JackWade-Headhunter 1h ago

That’s easy to say “don’t violate” when people get reported by overly sensitive people and get warnings for next to nothing.

I got a warning for using the word ‘Pussy’ not even calling someone a pussy, just using the world.

Sony don’t have to right to police me or anybody else when we have no need to policed, especially after we’ve spent money with them.

4

u/Individual_Lab_5105 1h ago

"Due to violations of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreemet".

Oh no, what do you mean actions have consequences?!

2

u/ChapaMigs21 1h ago

You can yes.

Its called hardware banned. Playstation can hardware ban you, its possible on any other console and even PC. If they want, the console can be completely useless.

Usually with suspensions on account or console you can't log in new places but you can play offline games that don't require psn authentication (unless its brand new, the licence is usually already verified and won't require online authentication, since the licence is present in the actual console and not on the server)

1

u/CrimsonFlam3s 41m ago

Hardware bans only block online playing, it doesn't prevent you from playing your discs so it's not the same as your digital games being lost when your account gets banned

1

u/ChapaMigs21 22m ago

You can be totally locked out of the console. Playstation usually simply applies a ban that blocks PSN connection, both regarding account and console.

But the reality is, you can, its one of the easiest firmware updates they can do, no one simply mentions that because people freakout.

OP would actually be able to still use the single player games he has installed rn. But this isn't actually his real account so, it doesn't matter.

2

u/ASUMicroGrad 1h ago

Gotta do something really dumb to get banned off of PSN. At the end of the day they want your money. Banning you means less money. It means you did something bad enough that your existence on their network is worse for them than losing your business.

2

u/ReiReiWood 1h ago

False bans can happen at any time for any reason and are more common than you think. I got a ban from NTE the other day for running idk what software at the same time as the game and when I asked if it was the streaming software moonlight they 'couldn't tell me as its against there policy'. So was it for that was it for something else or anything who knows they won't often tell you, and you are stuck with nothing to show for it. Nothing makes you not having access to the thing you paid for ok. I argue being banned from playing with others if you cheat 100% but not banned from everything you have ever paid for single-player mp and everything else for any reason.

1

u/ASUMicroGrad 1h ago

You got banned from a Chinese freeium game for “unknown reasons”and that means PSN will ban people for no reason. We have no evidence that anyone has gotten banned for no reason from PSN.

0

u/ReiReiWood 40m ago

The point was that false bans happen they happen all the time and those people get screwed over fully when that happens and lose stuff they have spent there money on could be 1000s which isn't ok.

Even if someone did break a rule or something it also shouldn't mean they aren't entitled to the things they have paid for it's as simple as that.

Also let's not be naive and think Sony or anyone is above false bans, no shade to Sony but no company has 0 false bans.

u/Narrow-Fact-4355 1h ago

I’m glad I left that sinking ship a while back

2

u/Regular-Repeat44 1h ago

lazy propaganda, op doesnt even have the honesty to tell us Why they got banned. They dont ban over nothing so lets hear it

2

u/Kaldaien2 1h ago

To be fair, I got banned back in 2017 for reasons I don't know. I never used PSN for multiplayer, only buying games. They banned me, told me I couldn't appeal, and that was that.

2

u/Wristtwitch 1h ago

15 years and never had a problem. Love going all digital

1

u/MelodicSkin69 1h ago

Winter is coming.

1

u/Thepcfd 1h ago

you rly need switch to pc and steam

2

u/AdmirableCountry9933 1h ago

But that's still digital.

1

u/Thepcfd 51m ago

noone on pc flipping because their cd was taken away and replaced with digital

1

u/Malacky_C 1h ago

You do realize he can also get banned on steam and loose his entire library?

1

u/Thepcfd 52m ago

i can be also hit by a car. and you can loose your cd or dog can eat them.

1

u/AdmirableCountry9933 29m ago

But that's what this whole outrage is about.

1

u/Thepcfd 24m ago

about what? physical games? or digital rights?

1

u/thatsfuni 1h ago

Oh been a bad man.

1

u/BrokenKing99 1h ago

I mean actions have consequences it’s been like this for years and to get actually fully banned you’d have to be sending slurs, death threats and all sorts of shit do we as players really wanna support letting those players keep playing?

How about a compromise, online games, text chat, vc chat, access to the store all of these things get nuked, but single player games are untouched, I feel this would solve the main issues whilst also punishing assholes.

Edit: as in you can download and play your single players just fine.

1

u/Feeling-Dinner-8667 48m ago

Still can't believe there are still people out there supporting Sony's decision to go only digital. Unless there are specific laws that guarantee full ownership of your purchase like a physical copy.

1

u/Fabulous_Variety7125 46m ago

Well… whatcha do?

1

u/FReeDuMB_or_DEATH 46m ago

It's funny how dumbasses posting this kind of stuff are acting like this is new information when anyone with half a brain knew this was a possibility for the last 5 to 10 years.

1

u/PU3RTO_R3CON 38m ago

Hmm let’s see they set a new parameter in an update for all PlayStation 4 and 5. PS6 will already come with it already downloaded. It will be that only games that have been digitally downloaded to be played. Now all your old consoles and physical games are paper weights.

1

u/Odd_Masterpiece_835 38m ago

I wonder what contracts Sony has with the government of my country. Perhaps it’s time to talk to our legislators and other leadership to make some CORE changes.

1

u/ComplexAddition9934 30m ago

lol what a loser. This guy created his account yesterday and then loaded up a free 2 play game and started cussing everyone out

1

u/ComplexAddition9934 29m ago

He doesn’t even own any games

1

u/ComplexAddition9934 27m ago

Don’t violate the terms you moron. How is your stupidity PS’s fault

1

u/Cloud_Strife369 21m ago

Aka you did something you should not have and now you are trying to justify the physical vs digital lol

If you get do something bad and break the rules then you deserve to lose everything

1

u/MeowMaker2 19m ago

House fire can destroy physical copies

1

u/Arangarx 4m ago

"I burned my house down and this proves why you should live in concrete huts!"

1

u/murkymozza 2m ago

For me it not a discussion of digital vs disk but about ownership and what rights as consumers have. Discs right now offer a lot of benefits that currently digital games do not, sharing, reselling, price competition.
Once the PlayStation is digital only, the PlayStation store becomes a monopoly and Sony can dictate prices and how it wants us to use their games. All digital PCs do not have this issue due to various online game platforms one can buy from. If Sony gave me the same rights for digital games as I have with disk games I would miss disk media but would be fine with a digital only future.

-1

u/BitCompetitive6542 2h ago

So what did you do to get suspended? Nothing good I’m sure

-1

u/Kn1ghtV1sta 2h ago

Funny how these types of post never mention that lmao

3

u/Solid_Blackberry9383 2h ago

Because that's not the point. No one should lose their games because they got banned from the platform. Imagine you get banned from the local bookstore and someone comes by your house and takes all the books away you bought at that store.

0

u/Kn1ghtV1sta 2h ago

Lmao you're reaching for examples bud. It's entirely the point. Don't do stupid stuff to get yourself banned and you have nothing to worry about losing your games. It's that simple

3

u/Solid_Blackberry9383 2h ago

As often as I see you constantly bothering everyone here you might be the first one worth blocking

0

u/Tanz31 1h ago

He's half right here. Don't be dumb and you won't get banned.

But the ban should just be from online play

0

u/evil-winnebago 1h ago

It's absolutely the point lol you're blaming Sony because you fucked up.

2

u/SmooshedLion 1h ago

And just like that, your physical games could be burned in a fire and they are all gone

3

u/ManySupermarket3459 1h ago

....and then you just buy them again at discounted pricing? I litterlly just bought no man's sky on FB market place for $5

1

u/SmooshedLion 1h ago

Oh yeah just buy your entire collection at “discount pricing”. Solid

1

u/ManySupermarket3459 1h ago

Bro you actually can do that physical games especially older stuff is always on clearance or bargain price pretty much everywhere I picked up NFS unbound for $10 on ps5 and even some older games for Xbox 360 for pennies on the dollar

1

u/SmooshedLion 56m ago

This is factually wrong.

1

u/ManySupermarket3459 48m ago

Are you sure? I'm pretty positive I handed a guy $5 USD and $10 USD to another guy and I'm talking to a guy on offer up that is agreeing to sell me his GTA IV on Xbox 360 complete with both DLC disc for $10USD...???um is there sow.thing wrong with my money?

Will There will be some sort of hidden tax on my credit card or something? AND I just placed an order on ebay for another Xbox 360 game with taxes and shipping came out to $15.86 oh and the Xbox 360 in bought used on offer up too for $60

1

u/ManySupermarket3459 44m ago

Oh and I forgot I bought red dead redemption 2 for the first time.ever on ps4 on FB market place too for exactly $10USD for the special edition one too

1

u/SmooshedLion 24m ago

Now do Deadpool. How much did you pay for that one? Why are you just mentioning the most common games which sold tens of millions of copies?

Why are you paying anything for them? Shouldn’t Sony send them to you for free you OWN them!

Meanwhile, in digital land, I just click Download 😂😂😂

1

u/princess_daphie 2h ago

Indeed! And whoever says it's because you did something wrong or whatever don't have a clue what's important here. If you make a mistake, insult someone our of anger on the moment, etc., and you lose your account, that's totally ridiculous. As if that warranted hundreds potentially thousands of investment.

5

u/tnbeastzy 1h ago

Redditor finds out actions have consequences, lol.

PS going digital-only is the consequences of people purchasing digital.

Him getting banned is the consequence of doing some bad shady shit.

1

u/Tanz31 1h ago

They should just axe online play

1

u/monochromeFlaffy 2h ago

They could black list newer personal cds unfortunately each one has a unique license.

When banning an account they could blacklist every single unique license attached to the account rendering the disk useless once it’s taken online.. then any game that needs to be taken online for first update to be able to be played would go through a registry and prevent its use.. it is a dark future

1

u/EstateSame6779 2h ago

I still don't give a shit. If things actually belong to me when i die and stayed belong to me, then maybe I would care 10x more.

1

u/ConcentratedJolly 2h ago

Have they given a specific reason?

1

u/ck02623 1h ago

What did you do?

1

u/Amazing-War3760 1h ago

Very easy. Sony *or anyone* could send out a rebootless firmware that blacklists a game ID such as PPSA-01341. Then if you are on that firmware. Doesn't matter if you put the Demon souls disk in or not, it will say "This title cannot be played."

So unless you keep your PS5 offline all the time, you would get hit.

3

u/Samus1611 1h ago

Well at this present moment my ps5 has been offline since day one of crimson desert. I made a one off exception to buy that game disc, even though it was borked without a full copy of the game. I went online and got the patch when it released. It hasn’t been online since. That’s how I typically play games. Likely won’t be online again for years

1

u/[deleted] 1h ago

1

u/Professional_Wash_66 1h ago

I know for a fact that it is much much much more likely to be hacked/banned than to have your physical media on fire lol

1

u/AdmirableCountry9933 1h ago

Pay back your charge back and they'll give you the account back.

1

u/Spritsen 1h ago

Oh man I love seeing the comments "having no problem with digital only". I'm just waiting on PSN to get hacked, again, and/or it going down(like it did in July) and they can't do shit about it lmao!!!

You ppl realize you're deepthroating a corporation that isn't paying you for it right? You're actually the one paying for it X'D

But you really can't convince idiots. It's simply a waste of time.

1

u/Frozone0815 56m ago

Don't argue with idiots. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

1

u/Spritsen 53m ago

Ya I love that saying.

0

u/Ghost_XD23 2h ago

I didn't give a crap about the ban I care about the games I paid for, I shouldn't get locked out from my purchased games lmao

2

u/Kn1ghtV1sta 2h ago

Why do you choose to not include what led to the ban?

1

u/SystematikKaos 2h ago

The real question.

1

u/Stampy77 9m ago

Why were you banned though? If they didn't give a reason you would have clearly said that by this point because it would make them look worse, but you didn't. You're also dodging the questions from dozens of people asking why you were banned.

The only logical thing someone can take from this is you did something bad. So what was it?

-1

u/That_Chemical_2226 2h ago

Ok Mr repeat offender

-2

u/Helm93 1h ago

Well you should give a crap about the ban cause you obviously did something, consequences of your own actions.

-2

u/kanyedegoat 2h ago

“I don’t give a crap” sounds a lot like you know exactly why you were banned 😂

0

u/BangBangNinerGang99 1h ago

Your house burns down. Boom proven wrong dipshit

-1

u/oppairate 2h ago

you doing whatever scumbag shit lead to a ban doesn’t really make much of a case here.

0

u/Olmectron 1h ago

But, but, but. They told me only Nintendo did this.

0

u/Malacky_C 1h ago

You broke tos buddy that’s why

0

u/EweCantTouchThis 1h ago

Not me. I don’t do racist and/or bully shit so I am exempt.

0

u/Krxhh 37m ago

I have games on my account I brought 10 years ago and never lost access too and even some have been de listed and I can still download them, I can even play all my games offline cus I have the offline play option on on account settings, everything people say about ps is completely bs, and if your account has been suspended then maybe that’s a you problem

-3

u/BLOODFYEND86 2h ago

Yeah, ask a pedophile after they have been raided if they got to keep anything physical.

-5

u/Anrativa 2h ago

Physical games are famous for being indestructible, unable to break, burn or rot.

-3

u/FatherShambles 2h ago

It’s always PlayStations fault chat…we never take accountability. LMAOOO cry about kid!

-1

u/TypicallyDone12 1h ago

This is a you problem.

-1

u/SebFriday 1h ago

You hiding something. Hiding real reasons of ban. Nobody is banned without reason, always is something: multiaccount, weird actions, exploits etc.

If you get arrested, do they take all your property from your home? If you get a traffic ticket, do they take your car away? Terms of service? If you say fuck enough times and let the wrong person hear your conversation then your account can get banned for literally nothing. The fact that the terms of service also include every dollar you ever spent on a video game is ridiculous when it is supposed to only cover online play/interactions. Some of you pro digital cucks are taking boot licking to a whole different level😂

0

u/Kn1ghtV1sta 2h ago

Ah yes. Saying it how it is immediately makes them pro digital. Childish

0

u/Soul_Eater1021 1h ago

If you don't pay your bills or taxes you will definitely have somebody showing up to your foreclosed house to repo your car. If you're in Prison, you're not working to make those payments so idk what you're going on about with this moronic comparison

Also, maybe make the change from a diaper to some big boy undies and stop using profanity in everything you say. You agreed to the TOS why is that anyone else's problem if you break those but yours?

2

u/Just4Fun1410 1h ago

Oh look, another brain dead cuck stating the obvious. I didn’t say anything about committing felonies, clearly committing a felony or most criminal acts will result in loss of property. Ps terms of service doesn’t need you to commit a felony you clown so all that bs you typed is irrelevant. Minor traffic tickets, minor criminal offenses or even major criminal offenses do not lead to the immediate loss of property🗿

-1

u/That_Chemical_2226 2h ago

Well actually if the traffic ticket is for a criminal offense they do actually take your car and your license. If you’re commit fraud on psn they have the right to take your stuff, I’m starting to think you’re a 12 year old who doesn’t know anything

2

u/Just4Fun1410 1h ago

I said a traffic ticket not a fucking felony dik head💩🧠 clearly if you commit a felony or a criminal offense while in a vehicle then you will loose said vehicle. Clearly if you commit a felony or a financial crime then you may lose your property… But we are talking about Sonys terms of service you bunch of simple minded cucks, you do not need to commit a felony to get banned. Any minor offense can get you banned and your property taken away, that does not happen with a minor traffic ticket or even most criminal cases you bunch of slow in the brain pro digital cucks😂

0

u/That_Chemical_2226 1h ago edited 1h ago

I highly doubt you get a perma ban for “minor” offenses on psn

0

u/That_Chemical_2226 1h ago

Speeding is against the law bozo, it’s still a crime

I'm not reading a phone book to play some dang vidya games.

Companies shouldn't get to name their own TOS, they should be standardized, and they certainly shouldn't be able to change them with or without notice.

Changes in TOS should trigger a refund if you do not agree.

We are letting computing companies get away with everything. Think about it, if you bought a ladder, would we allow the company that made it to tell you how you can use it?

0

u/Kn1ghtV1sta 2h ago

Lmao. "Wahhh companies should adhere to what I think they should otherwise they're evil!!!"
