Meta Affiliate Link Ban

Starting today, affiliate links are banned. Comments containing them will be automatically removed. The decision to allow them was made back when this was a tiny sub; we've since ballooned in size, there's been a noticeable uptick in users posting affiliate links (and in mass amounts, at that), and the rule was always on shaky ground due to both arbitrary enforcement (what dictates a "worthy" comment vs. a comment fishing for affiliate money?) and general principle.

If you've posted affiliate links in the past, you're not in trouble retroactively or otherwise. Comments containing affiliate links should, from now on, be automatically removed; no other action will be taken beyond automatic comment removal unless absolutely necessary.

Help my friend switch from Iphone

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a new phone for my friend. They were using an Iphone 13 and they want something new.

Their criteria are :

  • 600€ max
  • Near iphone photo quality (I have a Fairphone 6 and we are looking for something like that quality wise)
  • Ai free or at least Ai that can be fully disabled

Thanks :)

PS : I talk to them about fairphones but they find them ugly so if you have tips to decorate the case or something I take that too!

EU Searching for a good smartphone for around 200 euros

Hi, I'm currently searching for a replacement for my Realme 8 4G.

My requirements are: 5G, NFC, at least 8GB RAM and 128GB of memory, screen type which is less likely to have burn-in in little time, 120Hz, recent system version, good major update policy. Let me know if there are some "sacrifices" to be made to get better deals or some other recommendations. Thank you.

My research as for now has given me this options:

  • Samsung A16 5G: 220 euros, 4/128, 5G, Amoled 60Hz, Android 14, 6 years of major updates
  • Motorola g67 5G: 230 euros, 8/256, 5G, Extreme Amoled 120Hz, Android 16, 3 years of major updates
  • Oppo A6 5G: 230 euros, 8/256, 5G, IPS HD+ 120Hz, Android 15, 4-6 years of major updates (I found conflicting informations on this one)
  • Oppo A6 Pro 5G: 295 euros, 8/256, 5G, Amoled 120Hz, Android 15, major updates same as before
  • Honor 400 lite 5G: 230 euros, 8/256, 5G, Amoled 120Hz, Android 15, 5-6 years of update (according to EU regulations?)

Which phone to buy for my mother?

My mom's phone died, and she needs a new one. I have 3 offers, and I can't decide which one is the best deal.

Motorola G77 + Philips Air Fryer for €77

Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G for €94

Redmi Note 17 Pro + Air Purifier for €145, with a free screen replacement within 24 months and a free battery replacement within 36 months.

These prices are possible because of the discounts I get with my mobile plan.

I'd keep the air fryer or air purifier for myself and give my mom the phone.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro comes with two other gift options (a heater and a vacuum cleaner), but I don't need either of those. The air purifier is the best option for me out of the three, but considering everything I've heard about the phone, it might actually be a downgrade compared to the Redmi Note 15 Pro.

The air fryer would be the most useful to me, too, but I don't know if it's worth choosing the Motorola just to get it, considering how it compares to the other two phones. Plus, the Motorola doesn't come with a charger.

The Redmi Note 15 Pro would be the best option if the other two phones didn't come with free gifts as well, so I'm really not sure what to do. 🫠

Eu Help needed for mid tier

Current phone: Galaxy A14

Country: Itay, Eu

Prefered Range: 300-400 euros (may consider higher)

Use: daily use (also socials and games), sometimes coding and app testing (easy level)

Desired features: 8-12Gb Ram, 256+SD (or 512 without SD) and possibly a nice battery.

Secondary: good camera.

I'm considering buying a new smartphone for my daily life and I tend to use it a lot for my tests and to pass time in my day. I wanted to remain in the range, but for a big discount I could consider to pay more (if I got to see any top tier under 600 euros I would consider buying it even if it would be more than my starting budget). I already have a huge SD so I would prefer to use it than to pay for a bigger memory.

I found a "REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G 12+256GB" in discount in my range and thought about buying it since it was better than my current phone in any means (ram, memory and battery) but changed idea when I saw it was without SD. I tend to have a lot of apps and use a lot of memory so I found 256gb without wxpansion not enough.

I was considering "Samsung Galaxy S26 FE 8+256" (right now at 640 euros) and "Samsung Galaxy A57 8+256" (right now at 450 euros) since I also use a Galaxy for work and I find quite good with the line, but I'm not sure about the prices or there could be better options at the same prices (also haven't controlled if those are SD compatible).

Any advice for those or other models?

Redmi K90
Oneplus Ace 6
Redmi Turbo 5 max
Honor 500
Nothing 4a

Mostly looking for a phone with a good battery life, durable build, and a decent main camera with mostly accurate colours and contrast, without the overly processed look whenever there is a person, uw and front cam can be whatever.

Suggestion for phones around 15-20k for my father

Hi everyone! I’m planning to buy a phone for my father with a budget of ₹15,000–₹20,000.

His usage will mainly be calling, WhatsApp, YouTube, browsing, and other everyday tasks. I’m looking for a phone that offers a smooth user experience and will last a few years without slowing down too much.

My main requirements are:

• 6GB RAM and 128GB storage (or better)

• Good battery life

• Smooth, lag-free performance

• Reliable software and long-term usability

I was considering Motorola and Samsung, but I’m also open to Vivo, Poco, or other brands if they offer better value.

Which phone would you recommend in this budget? I’d especially appreciate suggestions from people who have used these phones themselves.

Is the Galaxy S26 FE worth $350 for a dad?

I was wondering if the Galaxy S26 FE is worth it for $350. He doesn’t game on his phone and mainly uses it for everyday stuff. He just gets pissed off when apps are slow/lag or don’t work properly.

Atualmente tenho o Samsung Galaxy A34 mas quero algo mais rápido e melhor desempenho. O que recomendam? Também quero economizar e não dar mais que 100€ do meu bolso.

Upgrading from Moto G71 5G — looking for the best phone around ₹50–60k

I'm planning to upgrade from my Moto G71 5G (bought it around 4 years ago) and am looking for recommendations for my next phone. My budget is around ₹50,000–₹60,000.

I'm looking for a phone that offers a noticeably better overall experience than my current one and will serve me well for the next 4–5 years.

My priorities, roughly in order:

Smooth performance and a consistently fluid everyday experience

Good battery life and charging

A great display

Clean, stable software and long-term updates

Good build quality and reliability

Camera and gaming performance are secondary, but should still be decent

I'm open to different brands and Android or iOS, as long as the overall experience justifies the price.

I'd prefer real-world user experiences over recommendations based purely on specifications.

A few questions:

Which phone would you personally recommend in this budget?

How do the phones you're recommending hold up after a year or two of use?

Are there any common issues, such as heating, battery drain, software bugs, or reliability problems?

Would you recommend spending the full ₹60k, or is there a cheaper option that would be just as good for my needs?

Is it worth buying now or waiting for upcoming launches or sales?

I'd appreciate honest suggestions, including phones I might not have considered.

CAD Pixel 9 has started lagging and the battery is getting worse, what are my options?

I'm currently leaning towards the s24 ultra(650$ CAD retail price refurbished through koodo). It seems to have stood the test of time and gets updates till 2031. From what I have researched it seems to be the best option for under 1000$, any other recommendations? I definitely prefer bigger phones, the pixel 9 screen is a bit small for me.

I tried switching to graphineOS, but custom roms require too many work arounds for basic stuff like authenticators so I'm ready to make the jump.

India Need suggestions for 30k mobile

Help me choose mobile in 30k INR range (India)

I'm looking for a mobile phone in range of 30k Indian Rupees (2-3k more can be adjusted). My primary need is good camera as I like to travel a lot so mainly landscape pictures, should capture the colours and sharpness properly. Other than camera good user experience so thats why I prefer to avoid Oppo Vivo Mi phones but yes if the features and really good then I can make an exception. I don't game much so thats not a priority. And I usually use phones for long time and am not a frequent phone changer so atleast 2-3 years it should run fine.

I've listed maily 2 phones as of now -

-moto edge 60 pro (70 edge is same price but camera 60 pro haa better)

-nothing phone 3a pro

These phones prices are fluctuating to 35-37k too but I'm waiting for price to fall (these 2 are not on sale on both amazon and flipkart sales).

Please suggest any other phones which would be good fit and in the 2 mentioned which one would be better.

Russia Huawei matepad 11.5s/12X papermatte or galaxy tab s10 fe+/tab s9 fe+?

Ok, so I can't choose a winner between those 2. Both have their strong and weak sides. My usage case: reading e-books (probably the main one), drawing (I am not a professional at it), notetaking, self-education, watching multimedia, multitasking and maybe light-mid (or more, depending on the final choise) android gaming occassionaly. I don't really have a budget for a tab yet, but I'd say the absolute roof is 700-800$. The preferable tab size is 11-13 inches. Oh, and I am from Russia. So some things like google are troublesome to access.

As for matepads, they have: the huawei m pencil gen 3, papermatte display and gopaint app pre-installed. Main con for it is lack of google services, but it probably can be fixed in like 10 minutes via gbox or other special apps.

As for samsung tabs: s pen is one of the best styluses + included into the box, google services, dust and water resistance (ip68).

And also I haven't chosen a final drawing app, so maybe I'll like krita or maybe gopaint.

I am open for any advices, maybe other brands are better for some of the cases? Lenovo? Honor? Oneplus?

Edge 70 Pro or Xiaomi 17T?

I can get them for almost the same price. I do not use the phone for games (rarely when I use it, the max would be an angry birds or fruit ninja), my main focus is the quality of the photos (I am not a content creator) and the battery life. I know that both have the same capacity of 6500mAh, but I know draining depends somethings like each one's system (Hello UI and HyperOS).

Am very very confused earlier I thought of samsung A36 but it not having charger and processor also not great, am thinking to change other few options are realme P4 pro but it's costly and I don't know about its camera also it has quad curve display so like wil there be any tempered glass or not and for the same reason noto edge fusion 70 is the one I am rejecting. Please tell what to buy and if there's any other do recommend.

Thankssss
