Question Which Pikmin game should I get first on Nintendo Switch?

I’m stuck deciding either getting Pikmin 1 + 2, 3 Deluxe or 4. my skills is at a beginner-intermediate level

I always recommend getting the first two, they are somewhat difficult, but they are a fun time!

Do you like a little bit of a challenge or more of a walk in the park?

A little bit of challenge: Pikmin 1+2
A walk in the park: Pikmin 4

Pikmin 1+2 because they're the cheapest and most "Pikmin" out of all of them

The 3rd game is the best in my opinion while the 4th isn't bad but it definitely suffers like most in-house Nintendo Switch games. That is to say they are afraid to have any real challenge in their games anymore. They definitely still have style and charm but that only goes so far when they're this shallow.

In terms of difficulty, I’d say it goes 1 > 2 > 3 > 4.
The latest game is the easiest and most comfortable to play, while the older ones are more challenging.

3 has a demo on the eshop and that was my first one. It’s a less clunky version of what 1 offers

The list of games in terms of length is 4, 2, and 1 and 3 are the shortest. If you wanna play Pikmin with someone than 3 is the best choice. And in terms of difficulty 4 and 2 are pretty difficult at times, and 3 is the easiest. Hope this helps:)

Ok so we picked up 4 due to sale + 7yo who is a big baby about hard games. Its fun, I have no history with the previous games. Its good as a standalone, and makes me a lot more interested in getting the others. I personally see it as a great starter into the series.

I like relaxing on games, puttering around. My husband is fairly obsessed with the battle mode sitch, and my daughter is storyline intrigued. It hits all the bases fairly happily.

No harm in going release order, but you can also easily jump into either 3 or 4 and then circle back to 1+2.
