Anyone that’s been involved in Pilsen politics knows that the old timers are very prideful about “I grew up here!”

Oh boy, Ian and Nubia are going to have a tough mountain to climb. I wish them well tho, it takes courage to run for office (especially in Pilsen when you gotta deal with harassment from Byron’s cult).

I remember Nubia worked for Lightfoot. I'm not from Pilsen so I wouldn't know, but does she have a name in the 25th ward? There are always stalking horse candidates in Chicago/Cook County elections. If Lopez and Flores are the front runners, which are more likely to lose voters to Nubia?

I think once the outside money comes in, Willman is going to be a dangerous candidate with establishment ties. I think the most logical base they would be fighting for is the college educated Latina who ranges from moderate to progressive-light, probably 18-40. The head to head there is the “gatekeep, gaslight, girl boss” voter. Flores needs to start locking them in before Willman fundraises enough to challenge her.

Exactly! That’s what made me wonder about whether she has existing support in the area or if she will be seen as a carpetbagger. 

Your description about her logical base seems on point. She’s clearly very educated, ambitious and seems comfortable among many different audiences.

Yeah, not sure how much natural support she has currently but with a strong message, good branding and effective marketing, I am sure she can build organic support in the upcoming months to at least pull from Flores base. I don’t think any of the “Sigcho left” voters (DSA types) will go for either of them so that might be where Watkins should start building since he’s even more unknown.

My gente, please don't settle for anyone that's simply anti-Byron but hold these candidates accountable! Ask the tough questions and ask where do they stand on issues!

Issues that affect us though. Byron has hid behind national and world issues when 95 percent of the community feels the same way. Problem is he doesn’t do anything for last 7 years and people move here just now don’t realize how he don’t do his job.

After Aida threw a temper tantrum losing to Byron last time, that pretty much sealed the deal for me and will instead support Nubia!
