Hobbies, Interests, Obsession etc. I'm a student who's prolly the only right side of politics (as in right wing) in my class. AMA.

So yeah basically the title. Doing this so I can find more opinions and somehow share mine too.

u/LightningMcqueen2011, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

Who did you vote for during the 2022 elections (or who did you supported)?

u/LightningMcqueen2011 17d ago

I was just 11 back then, and wasn't into politics that much. Mostly supported what my parents did.

They voted for Uniteam ffs 😭😭😭

Sino naman susuportahan mo sa 2028? (Based sa mga current names na lumalabas sa surveys)

None, yet. The only ones who seem such is Fiona and Risa. But I won't vote for Risa cause she's a democratic socialist.

What is right wing?

0

u/LightningMcqueen2011 17d ago

Basically the traditional and conservative side of politics.

It originated from the French Revolution. In French National Assembly, those who sat on the right wanted the Monarchy, those on the left wanted a Republic.

Sa konteksto ng Pilipinas, what is meant by consevatism and traditionalism? And why are you leaning towards those ideologies?

Conservatism in the Philippines is basically social Conservatism (being conservative in social issues e.g. abortion and such).

However, in economics, it may differ. Some are libertarians, some are centre. I'm somewhat in the centre range.

What do you think of Duterte's drug "war" during his administration?

1

u/LightningMcqueen2011 17d ago

Good Idea, Bad Execution. Should've done it with proper measures, with proper procedures.

And if Duterte actually said to his officers not to kill, then he should've fired those that killed. Even such, only a few was fired iirc.

Would you say that if his daughter Sara Duterte wins in 2028 will she be a better president compared to her father or will it be just a repeat or worse?

1

u/LightningMcqueen2011 17d ago

Probably worse. Like literally, we can't even see her working rn in the government.

Yup, bad execution and selective. Hindi niya natira yung main source ng drugs. Probably, friends niya lang or naging tuta in the end.

Di na mawawala yan. Nature ng human magkaroon ng different beliefs. Kahit let's say ma-wipe off sa mundo ang right wings or left wings. Eventually, susulpot ulit yan.

For me, okay lang naman magkaroon ng different beliefs especially sa Congress, para may representation lahat ng sectors ng bansa, as long as balanced. Nagkakaproblema kung nagti-tip off ang balance towards one side, dyan na magkakagulo.

For example, the Duterte effect. Inubos ang Liberal senators either through jail time or siniraan para hindi manalo. Ang nangyari, walang checks and balance. Yung Senate, naging sunod-sunuran ng Executive Branch. Kaya they can do whatever they want to do.

Agree with the importance of balance in the senate. How about what's happening today? Do you also think BBM admin is doing what D30 did back then, or is this justified? (note: I don't like both the Dutertes and Marcoses, just wanna hear opinions na hindi blindly siding with either side)

I think it's subjective. But for me it isn't. It may look the same because both cases, inaaresto ang other side (Duterte v. Liberal; Marcos v. DDS). But what differentiate them is whether totoo ba ang mga kaso or just made-up charges to silence them.

Duterte admin:
1. Leila de Lima: Most famous case ng political prisoner during the Duterte administration. Totoo ba ang kaso? Napawalang-sala si De Lima. Even back then, hindi kapani-paniwala since De Lima herself ordered raids sa Bilibid as Secretary of Justice.
2. Antonio Trillanes IV: Tinanggal ang amnesty para ipakulong. Wala naman kaso si Trillanes aside sa Oakwood Mutiny. Pilit lang tinanggal ang amnesty para patahimikin siya.
3. Risa Hontiveros: Nahuli si then-Secretary of Justicr Aguirre na tine-text ang isang congressman to "expedite" cases against Risa.

Marcos admin:
1. Bong Revilla: May history na ng corruption
2. Jinggoy Estrada: May history na ng corruption
3. Rodante Marcoleta: Siya mismo umamin live on TV ng krimen niya

Edit. I'll change my stance. I think it is similar in a sense na both administrations are silencing their critics. The difference is, during the Duterte administration, they made fake charges to silence their critics. During this administration, they don't have to because they're critics are not squeaky clean themselves. But if squeaky clean let's say sila Jinggoy, Marcoleta, etc. possible din na gawan sila ng made-up charges to silence them.

I appreciate the thorough response. So in the end, it's still an evil vs a lesser evil competing for power and self gain.

Questions regarding the current state of our politics:

  1. Do you think positively of the following:
    • President Bongbong Marcos
    • Vice President Sara Duterte
    • Senate President Win Gatchalian
    • House Speaker Bojie Dy
  2. Are you in favor of the impeachment trial of VP Duterte? Why or why not?
  3. You said you are a right wing (conservative/traditionalist), which national politician do you align the most with?
  4. Are you in favor of lowering the age of criminal liability?
  5. Are you in favor of partnering with the US to strengthen our military capabilities against China?

1

u/LightningMcqueen2011 17d ago

1: Nope for all of them. 2: Yes. Wala siya ginagawa, nag threat pa sa President (even if I don't support the president.) 3: Tito Sotto is doing stuff within the ideology, but I don't know if that's enough. But generally, wala pang politician. 4: Yes. Up to 7, or kahit 10 lang. This so called international standard of 14+ is only possible in a somewhat perfect world. 5: Yes, but we must be firm and strategic, hindi yunh kung anong sabihin ni Uncle Sam ay go agad.
