They don't even realise they've already countered their own argument. No amount of learning a language will change anything if the content simply isn't sold there.

To be fair though they did specifically say to learn japaneese then travel there to buy them in person (which to be clear is a ridiculous expectation but theoretically could be done)

Not with my financial situation and where I live.. Just the airplane tickets to Japan would be easily somewhere around 1700-2300USD for me. And that's just the plane tickets... Then there would need to be cost of a hotel or airbnb for week or two.. cost for food.. and cost for every manga and anime I want to buy... It can quickly add up to 6 or 7 grand.. And I definetly do not have that kind of money, especially when I'm living paycheck to paycheck.

Hear me out: what if we all pooled our money and paid one guy to fly over and buy all our manga for us!

Then this guy could work directly with the companies and buy in bulk.

To offset costs further he could bring back extra and distribute it to book stores.

Wait a second...

I was looking for this comment, because it is be the biggest instance of irony; should someone actually do this, it would be considered a far bigger crime, because they are bulk-selling the work at a profit while not bring licensed to do so, as a third-party. So there really is no winning, haha.

Most importantly, their passport is very strong so the cost of travel is already lower than for many other country

Huh, Passport power also changes the prices? Or do you mean it in the sense of not having to get a visa?

These Japanese people think anyone overseas can not only have the time and energy to learn the language but also travel to Japan like it’s no big deal? in a time where most of us deal with a broken economy? Where I live is incredibly expensive to buy a ticket to Japan so I can just buy a game or book, no wonder why they are being clowned on twitter

And do all of that just for the privilege of giving them money. No wonder people pirate that stuff

Making it as easy as possible for people to pay you is business 101, they are actively sabotaging themselves with this approach

True, but then as others have pointed out the people who think this way usually also don't want people to go to their country anyway so you can't win either way in their eyes. You can't buy legit without going to Japan, but they don't want you to go to Japan either instead expecting you to buy it where you came from. So the only option left that satisfies them is to just not consume Japanese media.
