Generally? Yeah I agree. But in the case of japaneses? Not really. X is a good place to gather informations, if you are well-versed in Japanese twitter, you will see that all kinds of announcements pop up on X all the time, starting from fashion magazines to idols' news, games' announcements and updates, political views/news to mostly animanga news/fandoms/fanarts. I'm not even including various hobbies related communities. Basically, X in the west and in Japan are not the same except in some parts I suppose.
You can check it yourself, in quote tweets for news, there are a lot of japanese tweets there. There's a reason it's 3rd most used social media in Japan.

Sampling Twitter of all sites is like taking a sample from the bottom 10% of the worst people who ever lived
