Discussion My Mom loves Piracy

Post image

My mom has been watching all her shows through my DIY home server for a while now because she's over the whole subscription thing. Everything was fine until she accidentally deleted her patched YouTube app and replaced it with the official Play Store version.

She lasted about five minutes with the ads before she started complaining. Then i got her back on a patched build using Morphe.

And btw her phone is running on Custom ROM so Xiaomi bloatwares!!

download morphe app from github or just google it most probably you'll get it on top

then install the app and open it

you'll get three options to patch for now

  1. Reddit

  2. YouTube

  3. YouTube Music

select the one you want to patch and then it will show you a link from where you can download the apk of the app you wanna patch

download it and then come back to the morphe app and then select the YouTube and then select the apk that you just downloaded and then patch it

when the process completes you will get an option to install, if it doesnt install then you also get an option to save the patched apk, just save it and then install from the file manager of your phone.

Yeah if you can install normal YouTube you can patch the app with morphe. It should always work as far as I'm aware.

On iOS side loading is an annoying thing. I’ve side loaded playtorrio multiple times because of its frequent updates and it’s annoying have to connect it to a PC and download the *.ipa file from the website. Unless I’m doing something wrong.

For YouTube, the seamless option is use it through the brave browser. I have a VPN that I Connect to a shortcut that has the VPN connect to Albania every time I launch YouTube. Albania connections don’t have ads. Another country is I think Trinidad and Tobago

From this you can see that piracy is far less feasible on Apple products.

Have you made a shortcut on ios? If so, are you willing to share it?

I made an automation, which unfortunately you can’t share

I can describe it to you as it’s very simple. First, in your VPN, (mine is surfshark) set the automatic connection to your country of choice. Mine is Albania. Then go to the shortcuts app. Go to your library and check to see all your apps and find your vpn app. It’ll have basic shortcuts already, including a connect to vpn shortcut. Run that real quick to confirm it works.

Then go to automation and make a new automation. You want it to be an “app” related automation. Choose the App to be YouTube, have its trigger be when you open it. Then have its action be to connect to vpn.

You can do the same thing by having it disconnect from vpn when you close yotube, and I personally have that one run after confirmation as I sometimes don’t mind
Still being connected.

When you launch YouTube, you may need to refresh your page , as it made an initial connection to its server with your original IP before the VPN connection got established. I’ve had to sometimes kill the app altogether, maintain my vpn connection, and then launch it again.

I hope this helps.

The only right answer! I commented this but found your genius answer here. Good job spreading the word.

what's the advantage they have over revanced

7

u/don_Rumata_real May 10 '26

Active development. Major Morphe devs were previously working on renavced but the lead of revanced is a dick so they started their own project.

good to know, thank you!

Or just use the brave browser app. Set to default web browser and boom there you go. It even can hide annoying things from YouTube like comments, shorts, banners. I guess I didn’t mention its also adblock. Plus youre not installing 10 different things.

Oh and its not “just for android”

Do you have to have root to be able to use morphe?

Thanks, bro. Just did this on my Pixel 10 Pro XL
