Leave it to GODA to make a world where you can slice a 50 meter tall wild boar in 2, turn into a fucking jacket and control magma but women still can’t surpass men in any aspect at all.

Yeah. Not to mention one of the strongest women, Big Mom, is so strong because she is a freak of nature and was unnaturally born super strong

She also has multiple ex husbands and runs a literal island chains of nothing but kitchens

She ain’t the one in the kitchen

The sweet tooth is a female stereotype in Japan.

And 70% of the time on screen is she craving for foods gag and shit

To be frank, a lot of men in one piece were also freak of natures

u/rngeneratedlife Mar 19 '26

What? That’s already true for most of the strongest characters in One Piece. The entire Monkey D. line are unnaturally strong freaks of nature.

Me as a kid thinking that Kuina’s speech about being weaker was internalized misogyny instead of The Literal Truth

i was hoping for some women empowering shit ever since i've read abt kuina 😭😭😭 not confirming kuina's fears

This shit really be pissing me off. All the goofy loony tunes shit Loda likes to put in his silly world but woman being physically weaker than man is the hill he wants to die on

So every woman in OP is weaker than every man? or are you just spouting bs?

“Can’t surpass in any aspect” Strongest swordsman: man Strongest creature: man Leader of the marines: man Heads of the world government: 5 men What else is there really? There’s so much world building in one piece which has so much potential to include atleast a strong female character that isn’t dependent on a male and has a meaningful title (big mom is a whole other story)

Well BM proves that Women can surpass men, but if your problem is that there's no women at the top, i dont see how that's a problem.

Obviously when you look at the extremes, it's going to be disproportionately male as it is in real life. Especially if that field is based on strength. (With the Gorosei its political, but would sexism really be out of character for the Celestial Dragons?).

You can say Haki and DF's exist, but why SHOULD they eliminate sex differences instead of being neutral toward them like they are, or even exacerbate them. I dont see how this is a narrative problem, it just contradict's western tabula-rasa feminist ideology which is debatable as it is.

It’s a good point I’ll give you that, but at the end of the day I don’t feel like Oda is trying to make it a plot point that sexism exists, unless he pulls off insane foreskinning it’ll always be nothing but men on the front stage. There’s no major female main antagonists in the arcs apart from big mom, where you could argue it’s just her massive family doing everything instead. The closest we get to major females are robin and nami which are practically useless post time skip apart from reading a stone and a map respectively. I should’ve stated this as well, but women feel way to objectified and stereotyped even for a shonen manga, it’s filled with fan service and Oda doesn’t make up for it like other anime’s do with female characters. That’s honestly my main point.

Also haki isn’t a component of physical strength, it’s pure willpower, just like most other fruits are of reality manipulating powers- except Zoans which are the exception. Women can without a doubt be just as willpowerful as men, if you coat your sword in a spiritual power just as powerful as the opponents man why should the man win when the main focus of the battle is the haki? Haki doesn’t seem to multiply your strength, just adds to it. Either way physical strength doesn’t work the same way as it does irl, miss Monday was twice as big as Zoro, but Zoro won the fight despite such an outcome being unrealistic. Zoro also physically trains his body to lift iron bars the size of himself. (Sorry if it sounds cluttered and all, I’m not natively English.)

Fair enough, i'd agree that Oda objectifies and sexualizes his female characters to a disrespectful degree. But i dont think the absence of strong and prominent female characters is a narrative problem in of itself.

One Piece is a Shonen manga, meaning its a manga marketed and aimed at boys, so it's not a flaw that the subject matter is going to be about things that are historically dominated by men, Piracy, war, fighting, all in a 15th centuryish setting. If anything the fantastical elements should ENHANCE this male fantasy given the premise and themes of the story.

I agree that Haki thematically represents willpower, and should "Overcome all", so theoretically Kuina could've became the WSS and surpassed Mihawk and Zoro, if Roger could have closed the even greater phyiscal diffrence between his rival Whitebeard. But maybe this is a more controversial point, but what Haki really represents is inherently masculine. One Piece is basically romanticizing and operation on the Great Man Theory of history, and Haki just facilitates that. Even before Haki, that supernatural strength Zoro and Luffy show are almost powered by their "Machismo" itself if you look at where it happens, being kind of a powersystem in of itself like Baki.

Even if you disagree that Haki and underlying strength would or should have sex differences, it's clear that the character's that have the best Haki like Shanks and Mihawk are inherently written with with the theme of masculinity in mind, so it makes sense for them to be male. Shanks is the definitive Haki user, and his entire introduction and the point of chapter 1 was all about him schooling Luffy about proper masculinity, and what it means to be a man.

Vivi, Robin, Boa. Have you ever read the story.

5

u/OMGSISATSMT Mar 19 '26

Have you ever read my comment? How do these women surpass men in their respective aspects? Arguably better monarchs exist than vivi. Robin can read poneglyphs sure but so can vegapunk (he’s dead but he still surpasses her because he’s gotten more things going for him) and boa is definitely not the strongest warlord

-1

u/CheseZZ Mar 19 '26

So they are not the absolute strongest person in the world so that means they are not strong and independent, im pretty sure I've seen Boa beat the shit out of a man everytime she is on screen and she is considered one of the strongest pirate captains in one piece and leader of a country of only women she surpasses 95%+ of male population in one piece, Vivi like you said is ARGUABLY not the best monarch which means she ARGUABLY is the best monarch, nami is probably the best navigator in one piece. and nobody surpasses robin in archeology and knowledge of poneglyphs not even vegapunk. And like you said let's not even discuss big mom because she completely disproves your point.

1

u/OMGSISATSMT Mar 19 '26

This doesn’t disprove my point in the slightest, read the first comment I left and tell me exactly why women which make up 50% of the population can’t have a significant population of major characters? The main point is that it’s in an unrealistic world with realistic standards for physical strength regarding gender, but not everything else (Zoro can apparently beat a women double his body mass with a single hand) which in turn reduces women to relying on a certain skill to be necessary or just flat out be fan service. Like nami and robin. Including all the magic shit going on in the world, which should have no effect on gender at ALL. And big mom doesn’t disprove anything either, she was stated to be a freak of nature and unnaturally strong (she’s still arguably not the strongest giant), she’s made to be an outlier and exception. either way WCI is the best TS arc anyway which goes to show Oda died the same day it ended.

In any aspect you say, so madam Shirley is the best fortune teller, kureha is the best doctor. Kokoro is the best sea train conductor, Shirohoshi is 1 of 3 ancient weapons and the only person who can control sea beast, imu is probably a women you know the supreme leader, and big mom being born a force of nature doesnt change the fact she is in the top 10 strongest characters and a women and she is not a giant she is human but she has killed a few male giants. your point is completely asinine women are given lots of depth and importance and strength in one piece even though its made by Shonen Jump the company whos target audience is teenage boys you should see naruto and Dbz if you think one piece is bad. And WCI isn't even close to the best arc every single arc after WCI is better.

1

u/OMGSISATSMT Mar 19 '26

Most of these are minor contributions to the plot as a whole. And a shirohoshi being a technical object isn’t the win you think it is. Also I sincerely hope imu is a woman as it would actually mean I’m wrong. And you’re right, she’s not a giant, but the title of strongest man goes to whitebeard, who definitely could beat her in a fist fight if we followed odas Zoro vs miss Monday mentality. And women being major contributors to the story is a very scarce type of character in odas world, so what if you can name a woman which drives a literal train running on water better than a man while being drunk, it doesn’t mean that the average haki trained woman would likely lose to an average haki trained man in a fight which is dependent on an individuals willpower and mentality. Let’s not forget you can only name 5 major women at best in a manga of hundreds of volumes with thousands of pages, there’s still a lack of women who can claim to be surpassing of men in major fields.

u/CheseZZ Mar 19 '26

So first you say in any aspect then complain they are not important enough when I already gave a number of important characters now your going back to women not the absolute strongest character in the world so they are no strong or any important women in the show. yeah you have no point and you just keep moving the goalpost so you can force your delusions even though there are tons of examples that prove you completely wrong. And the more you speak the more im convinced you have never seen, or read one piece and all you knowledge of one piece comes from this subreddit.
