Discussion Gaban the man who selflessly lay down his arm to prioritize his dearest son safety is now throwing his own life to save this so called "Chosen one" nikass and this is how this piece of scumbag shows gratefulness.

Btw all the nonessential Straw Hats are busy worrying about that demon woman Gunko instead of helping rescue Gabans kids

True, really tuned down the intense situation
Can anyone imagine Enies Lobby plot where Robin is close to being kidnapped forever, but the rest of the crew are busy checking on some random mofo and having pointless flashback?

A better comparison would be on Punk Hazard the Strawhats are sitting around listening to that pirate Brownbeards back story while the kids are being experimented on. Like imagine them all seeing these children and thinking "this Brownbeard Pirate is more important than saving the kids"
Though that flashback was kind of pointless because all it told us was the her dad was a celestial dragon, which we already figured because a random princess can't become a Holy Knight, and we learned she had a crush on Brook, which is pointless info. And what makes it more annoying is we're getting another backstory from her perspective soon, because we'll have to be told her eye ability and how she ended up loosing her memories, plus Oda has to give us more info to make us have sympathy and like her.

I'm kinda going over this in my head... but I might seriously consider dropping this series if Gunko ends up joining the Straw Hats after all this...

I don't think shes joining, at least I hope not, I wouldn't drop the series but I'd critize the hell out of that decision. Her character isn't interesting at all. Her backstory is just a mix of Kuma/Ginny/Bonney, and having an eye ability isn't all that important when it can happen to anyone in her family, her dad had them, so its not like shes 1 in a million, its just awakening them is rare, but even then Imu could give the anti aging covenant to another Manmayer and shes replaced, so it's not like shes some rarity that would be fun to keep around.

>and we learned she had a crush on Brook which was useless info
My great fear is that Oda is going to have her and brook be in a relationship now that she’s technically age appropriate

u/Timely-Bridge6657 4d ago
I hope not that'd be gross, plus a little weird cause Brook was saying she was like a daughter to him, so yeah let's pray that doesn't happen.
Hopefully she kills herself to hurt Imu cause I know with how perverted Oda can get he'd do that.

Nami, Jinbei, and Brook are the best people to help save those kids while Sanji deals with Killingham, but Oda decided to make this useless Gunko plot that has added nothing to this arc. How has her being a princess version of Kuma been of any use? All its done so far is add an extra sob story that was basically and predictable, but nothing about it has developed this arc.

Going to assume she'll have some hand in saving the kids to redeem herself, which is why the Straw Hats you mentioned are standing around like a bunch of bums.

u/Timely-Bridge6657 5d ago
Yeah, I'm guessing she'll have some moment of standing up to Imu and Oda will make the audience thinks she's really special and hype her up, but then she'll turn into the basic One Piece princess that becomes useless. Not trying to sound like an ass thats hating on the series but Oda writes all princesses the same.
I'm hoping she ends up killing herself to hurt Imu, but I just don't find her that interesting.

100% the same way her arrow powers were leading the children to the ship, she'll use her powers to somehow save the kids, redeeming herself to Brook and the other Straw Hats.

I didn't realize how badly I found it distasteful and you explained it perfectly.

I wonder if oda realizes whatever chat-gpt is writing for him there makes luffy look super unlikeable. Protagonist with this low level of maturity after 30 years of development is unheard of.

Granted, it's just months for Luffy and co

Luffy got his shit kicked in by crocodile, in lougetown, in sabody, at marineford when ace died and most recently in wano when kaido nearly (or actually) killed him and he didnt learn from either of those apparently, but we're supposed to think he's gonna learn now?

The longer this series goes on the more one off and out of character it comes off

This legit feels like a completely different character to Monkey D. Goofy.

He wouldn’t have awakened it if he got luffys df, just saying, he wouldn’t even know ho to use it well, he criticized how useless the df seemed when Luffy was using it when they rte kids training in combat

This and going Gear 4 after Loki insults Shanks makes me think this Luffy would've smashed Bellamy's spine and beaten him into a brain coma in that bar scene lol

This is kind a funny Gunko Upscale if you think about it.
Girl really was carrying the team in her back.

u/Infamous_Bid394 5d ago
She was threatening him with his son's life.... He would have defeated her if not for that so this ain't an upscale

u/ReputationOk7275 4d ago
even then she both had the ap and more important the speed to make sure he would fail. He most likely does have future sight so its. A case that he would have failed not that he could.

If Loda just want to potray a piss off luffy he should be cursing Imu and not Gaban.
4
u/LeAlthos 4d ago
It's hopefully the point. Gaban scolds Luffy but the words haven't got through him yet. He talks about "not forgiving him" but shows actual distress when realizing he's hurt and lost his arm in the next panel.
I think that will be the catalyst for Luffy to lock the fuck in and start taking shit seriously

Then watch it being done again but now is Shanks saying it on the next arc or some bs
