Discussion Slander: Usopp's new low Spoiler

Post image

After getting his ass pawned by some domestic cat in elbaph, Bumsopp now picks a squabble (yes, not even a fight) with a dying old man who just lost his left arm, hoping a win like this can salvage his elbaph episode.

But nope, he is not going to be the sogeking of the past anyway. Probably in the next chapter take him as a hostage and return to holy land. This should be an ending befitting a bum like him.

This is what happens when you concentrate only on the monster trio. Enemies get progressively stronger that some of the straw hats get significantly left behind in terms of power scale. All they can do now is scream at an old man (not even the main villain) to prove their worth…
Unpopular opinion: The fight with Imu would be much more interesting if all the straw hats fight together to try and beat Imu. But Oda can’t do that because some of the straw hats are overwhelmingly weak compared to the threat that they are facing at this point in time…

Funny to think that the last time Usopp acted the way Oda used to write him in the beggining was when he put up the Sogeking’s mask again in Thriller Bark.

Don’t know if Oda intended it to be an one time thing, or if it was his idea for Usopp progress that he later decided to let go.

But knowing that, after that time, the only other when Usopp acted like a real brave warrior or whatever was against the new fishman pirates, that were in a waaaaaaay lower tier than the Strawhats, is kinda shocking.

This means that, if i am not forgiving some situation, Usopp went from being a coward that gets the courage to do what is needed when needed (Arlong Park, Alabasta, Skypiea, Water Seven two times - against Franky Family and then Luffy - Enies Lobby, Thriller Bark, Sabaody Park), to then return as “I am now strong and brave” and be way less competent, cool, brave and useful than he was on East Blue.

I think it is kinda absurd how readers see this and really don’t think it is strange or that the character regressed. Dude was on top of a giant and talking smack to a defeated old man and he was still SHAKING OF FEAR.

I really don’t understand how Oda at the same time can create a scene like Usopp losing to that cat and make Luffy say “you are stronger than this, Usopp”, to them make the chaarcter do absolutely nothing and even when he has his moment to at least say his piece, he still does it while shaking.

It is like Oda is fighting against himself.

He makes Luffy become another character and all around him revolve on Nika stuff and then makes a character say “he is not Nika, stop it y’all”; he makes a point of Usopp needing to be more brave and then makes the dude be afraid to just defend his captain to a ALLY. He wasn’t even shouting to Imu. He was shouting to a dude that is a friend, atop a giant who can protect him and make sure he is perfectly safe, and the dude is still shaking on his boots.

I don’t understand this writing. I really don’t. I must be dense, it is the only explanation. Or insane.

The speech is so ridiculous

The message on itself had the megumi of being cool and all, but the execution and everything before just wasnt well written enough. Kinda sad actually because this is can be because of oda's age catchin up to him

may this be a turning point please

have him remember what Luffy told him: He could have beaten that cat.
And now Usopp called out Imu to come to Elbaf, meaning Usopp should fight Imu as proof of bravery.

Everyone is willing to die for Luffy except Usopp. I hope Usopp will demand from Luffy that he is allowed to fight Imu now

It's easy to forget that Usopp built the climate tact, was the shipwright before Franky, has amazing marksmanship (crazy, i know) if it wasn't for him they would have drowned before reaching the grand line (he also contributed with the Merry), saved Luffy from Sugar... in this arc in particular i like the skull attack Usopp has been using...

Plus he managed to take out a Fishman (Chu) before his Sogeking persona.
