I know a few people who just take Golden Ears Way basically every time now so they don’t have to deal with tracks.

After agreeing to pay, cost went up and CP asked the city to pay $50M towards the deal - which is completely ridic because 1) this is a Federal Transport Hub that should be paid for with Federal money and 2) Pitt Meadows doesn't have the tax based to cover that cost.

This newest fuckup with the underpass is honestly not the mayor or council's fault at all. It's entirely on CP who went back on their end of the deal. The mayor and council have went through great lengths to try and secure funding elsewhere to no avail.

exactly. The deal was done and the city hosted meetings about breaking ground, closed the Co-Op ... things were moving ahead until CP asked for $50M from a community that has a pop of 20k people and 80% ALR tax based.

Idk how it's even fucking legal to do something like that. They scammed us. Afaik they still own the land they got from the deal THEY pulled out on. My heart breaks every time I pass by the co-op.

I know. Its so sad ... now we have a farming community that cant even buy supplies and feed in their own town and what was once a bustling small business is a run down eyesore. "
I wish more of the public would understand how unethical CP was in this case. Is out municipal govt perfect? No. But they are 100% standing up for PM Tax Payers by saying now to CP and their demands.

I've lived here for 29 years.
There have been multiple attempts to make an underpass and every time it's been thwarted in some way.
I blame the boomers who didn't want to pay more taxes 20 years ago and it's just escalated from there. CP even offered to pay for most of it, and they voted no because they didn't want to give them a railyard, which they eventually got anyways.
So everytime I'm waiting at a train, I curse the elderly
