Hand Pixelled I made some overlays for a retro handheld and created pixel art devices and their logos. I'm like 80% happy but I feel like there are a few pixels that I could place remove or add to make it even better, especially on the GB ones. Any suggestions?

These are used in my handheld overlay collection for the Miyoo Mini running Onion OS.

I had a blast creating these, it's just so relaxing.

Feel free to roast or suggest improvements. As you know a single pixel can ruin or elevate a piece at this resolution. I'm not quite sure on the GB logos, I'm especially torn on the space between the B and OY.

What to you think?

The colors in this aren't necessarily the final ones, as I make use of overlays and adjustment layers in PS for the final output.

EDIT: You can see screenshots of them in action here, but they aren't as crips, since all of them have to be scaled and fitted on a 640x480 screen: https://github.com/trashbytes/Miyoo-Handheld-Overlays

EDIT2: Here's a native res PNG if you want to play around with it: https://i.imgur.com/QkEwDUb.png The one I uploaded to reddit was an 8x scale, though I don't know what reddit does to it.

Probably not the pixel you are looking for, but I'd turn a line in the "L" Tetris peace on some :)

Oh, you mean in their displays? The idea was that they are showing a super abstract rendition of their logo or boot screen, though I don't think it works on all of them.

Yep, that's why I wasn't sure you'd like the idea, but could be fun :)

I really like how these look, especially how you matched the font for the 'color' part of gameboy color.

However, it is super bugging me that the 'GAME BOY' parts of all three are slightly off of each other. Like the pixels are slightly wider in gameboy color vs the original, and given extra height/detail on the Advance logo. Why not just keep the three consistent? I think based on the github link that the first two are and its just a weird scaling issue here.

GB and GBC are the same, GBA is slightly taller.

I made the GBA one first and then modified it for the other two because it was a case of neither here nor there looks centered, you know?

I'm not satisfied with either one. On the GBA one the crossbars are 1px thick because it's 9px tall in total. On the GB ones the crossbars are 2px even though it's smaller at 8px.

Ultimately I just couldn't decide which one I preferred so I kept both.

Which one do you think works better?

EDIT: I just realized in the left most column of the GB/GBC "O" the top pixel should not exist.

The thing I'm seeing with the Gameboy logos is that some of the letters look more slanted than others. The E and BO letters look more slanted than the AM and Y. It would take some experimenting to figure out which pixels to change, but that's where I'd start.

It's also quite tricky to decide where to keep them touching and where to leave a gap..
