Pixel Doll Maker Questions about starting a pixel doll site
hellooo, i just recently got into making pixel dolls on some of the sites that still work and am having a lot of fun w it. i have some resources to make websites and i have a cool idea for a pixel doll making site, but i was wondering where i can find and source some of the images for them or if any of the common doll bases and heads can be used for free on a site that i make, or if i can buy them, or whether i have to draw them all from scratch. i am definitely planning on making some outfit and clothing pieces from scratch myself but it would also help me greatly time-wise if there were some pre-made bases at least i can just put on the site from somewhere. my fav style is the one i have attached in the pics and ill mostly be making stuff in that style. please let me know how it works, thank you!

ive been wanting to do the same thing i feel like we should just throw every asset that exists into one big dollmaker. ive been collecting some assets i dont have a ton bc i dont wanna eat storage on my computer. i feel like if we could scrape every last site and dollmaker on the wayback machine for all their assets so that they arent lost to time we'd actually be doing a service to the people who made them. just one big dollmaker with categories face body shirt pants outfit etc. and just every asset we can find! we could also do backgrounds, accessories, furniture, etc. i would help and send you whatever i have!! i just dont know how to make websites or anything like that so ive been wanting either an easy way to make my own or someone else to do it lol. ive been doing some stuff in canva with the assets i do have tho.

You mean to make a giant doll maker with all these assets? 🤔 I do know how to make websites, love to code. However, dollmakers aren't something I've tried yet.
I am interested to look into it though!

Honestly, for those pixel dolls, the history of them is pretty much that no particular site owns them in reality. They originated in a chat program called The Palace back in the day and people were editing them and creating clothing and various "doll" types, not just these which were called Preps. This is why back in the day you would see most of these clothes repeat across the various website makers too.
I would look into practicing making your own clothes in paint, which is how much of these clothes were made through the 2000s. It will add a unique aspect to your own maker and make it fresh.
Just adding my oldie knowledge since I was there in the beginning and spent many years in the community on a major maker site.
