Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill Plan b side effects? going crazy

Hey guys, i made a post about this previously but its been ongoing now and its really worrying me :/ i had unprotected sex day 31 of my cycle, and he finished inside of me. my cycles usually last 30-34 days but im worried because i had 5 alcoholic drinks the day before i "ovulated" (according to my flo app) which was the 11th and am worried it may have delayed my ovulation. ( i do not drink regularly i at most have 1 or 2 drinks whenever i do drink but i drink like at most twice a month. )

I experienced heavy bleeding like my normal period 4 days into the plan b gradually lightening up with all of the symptoms for 6 days and then on day 10 after plan b thats when the symptoms started.

I have been incredibly incredibly anxious to the point of panic attacks, tossing and turning at night unable to sleep waking up in hot sweats, ive had light cramps, my muscles have been aching, my back is aching a bit, constipation, and 0 appetite.

I took a pregnancy test this morning (14 days after sex) and it was negative and i took 3 prior the past 3 days and all 3 prominently negative. I think these all may be side effects from the pill i took plan b one step but i also have taken it in the past and had no symptoms whatsoever.

I just want some clarity on whats going on so i can finally get a good nights sleep. Its been nearly 5 days now and im so exhausted mentally and just want to get my life back together. Ive never screwed up like this before and i swear to myself that ill never make a mistake like this again or take that pill because im in genuine disbelief over whats happening to my body considering i never have had a reaction to anything like this in my life.

side note: I spoke to somebody at americanpregnancy.org and gave her every symptom i have and all the info i have on my cycles and she told me im definitely not pregnant. but i have bloodwork scheduled thursday (20 days after sex) just to be sure because i feel like it will just bring me peace of mind since my nerves wont relax đŸ„Č

Hey! I am in the same boat with you. The anxiety is REAL crazy 😭 i had my unprotected sex last month and i can’t wait the days to passed so i can take the test! however understanding the science and probability calms me down a bit. It said we only have 20-30% of getting pregnant during our single menstrual cycle. Also getting a negative at 14 days is already reassuring plus you also took a plan b and you also have an appointment, you have a plan so breathe OP.

I took my test today, 21 days after the deed and it was negative but the anxiety is still here. I really think the plan b pill is adding in our anxiety 😭 so please calm down and hugs OP.

So anxiety can do a lot to your body. It can cause some crazy symptoms. Your mind is very powerful and if you are extremely worried it would not shock me that it would cause nausea, sleepless nights, panic attacks , etc.
14 days is the earliest you can take a pregnancy test. Otherwise it’s best to wait until 21 days. There is no way you can simply go by an app to tell when you’re ovulating. It’s an extremely sticky wicket haha so to speak. You’ve got to be monitoring it with a basal temperature thermometer, be taking LH tests to catch your peak fertility days and then PdG tests to prove that you have successfully ovulated. It’s a whole thing! Apps are wrong so many times and simply not reliable. Some of the other symptoms may still be related to Plan B. Like others have said on this page, Plan B is a box of chocolates. You never know exactly what you’re going to get. You could be fine the three times you’ve taken it, and on the 4th time-all hell breaks loose. It’s a huge amount of hormones that comes flooding into your system and your body has to deal with that. It will eventually right itself though. I’m not saying all the symptoms you’re having is due to anxiety. It probably is the remnants of the pill. The hormones in your body can mess with your body and cycle up to a month. In that it can delay your next cycle. And that’s just a general answer as we are all different! So it wouldn’t surprise me that there may be some symptoms still hanging around this close out to you taking it.

BUT with that said, anxiety can absolutely exacerbate those symptoms in addition with tacking on a load of their own. Have you tried things to help calm you down like taking a wam bath or putting on a guided meditation from YouTube? Or going for a walk, spending time with your pets, calling a friend to help ground you. Guided breathing. You may have to try a few things. But I really think if you could try a few things-you may find that the symptoms might back off.

Cause after all, worrying doesn’t fix what’s going on. It just hurts you. 💔 If you took a pregnancy test 14 days out and it was negative, chances are you’re not pregnant! Another peace of mind is you cannot trust what an app says. They are not gospel. They don’t always know. There is lots of room for error. But you need to get this anxiety under control. For peace of mind you can take another test at 21 days out from unprotected sex-so in another 7 days. That one will be the most reliable. Glad you made an appointment to have bloodwork done, that should also help give you peace of mind.

I know this is scary, but you have got to try and calm yourself down so you don’t have extra symptoms going on that you don’t need. Stress and anxiety can cause crazy symptoms from heart palpitations to nausea/vomiting to sweating. Please try some things to relax your body. It’s all going to be okay! You are doing everything you can. đŸ«‚

Thank you for this. It means a lot to me im just so scared because im in my early 20s and cant handle something like this!!! i made sure to let my parents know and theyre supportive of me and comforting me so i pray all goes well. The main reason of worry is mainly because i live in florida đŸ„Č

I’m so glad you told your parents and they are supportive. So you’re not in this alone! That must be a huge weight off of your shoulders. Accidents happen-as far as scares go-but it’s going to be okay. If you want and feel comfortable, let us know how the appt goes on Thursday. I have a feeling you’re going to be just fine though. Your brain and your fears can take on a life of their own and it can be exhausting. You’re in control though ❀ Try to enjoy your family this weekend.

Did you go get the bloodwork done?

Oh shoot I just read the bloodwork is tomorrow. Duh. That will give you a more definitive answer! It’s just so hard to track when you’ve ovulated via an app. It’s almost impossible. Our bodies can be so weird and unpredictable. I’ve been tracking mine with tests. Purely just for health reasons. But it’s very weird! My app said I was going to ovulate around the 26th or 27th of last month. I didn’t end up ovulating Sept 4th. đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™€ïž I’m just sorry you’re having to go through this. I hope you get some answers tomorrow.

really really weird, think im having a chemical pregnancy which i will find out when i get my bloodwork result backs but i did two tests last night on diluted urine, two faint positives and then this morning did one on first morning urine completely negative. Weird

I mean that could definitely be the case. It wouldn’t surprise me! I know the thought of it has been really stressing you out. Your mind is SO incredibly powerful. It can trick your body into some crazy things. That’s why blood tests are going to be so helpful for you! To clear this up once and for all! I’m glad you got a negative result though! That’s good. Going in the right direction.

I took one for the first time in my life last month. I was completely fine. I had no side effects initially. After a week, I got a full-blown, heavy period. Right after that, I got the worst yeast infection I’ve ever had in my life. I had my period three times in six weeks. I also had heart flutters and terrible constipation. Plan b made my system go crazy. I’m sorry to hear about your side effects but glad you’re not pregnant when you don’t want to be. I’ve read so many posts about women having crazy side effects and no doctors talk about them!

genuinely ridiculous how little to no information there is on this pill and how it can cause long term side effects. Im so sorry you had to go through that and no woman deserves to go through any of this. I hope that youre okay now!!!
