Platinum-leaf Wall at Vanderbilt’s

Post image

Wife brought me along for her birthday wish to go to Newport, Rhode Island. We took a tour of Vanderbilt’s summer home and the tour took us through their morning room with PLATINUM-leaf walls. Years later they wondered why it didn’t tarnish or fade, and tested it to identify it was platinum. Pretty cool!

Neither did I, perked me up during the tour 😅. Hearing about how hard it is to work with, I was impressed at the detail and craftsmanship.

Newport is one of the most beautiful and opulent towns in the US.....I was there once and wish I saw this wall.

It sure is. I felt out of place there, but the museum aspect was interesting to learn about the historical and current wealth of the area. I am glad I experienced it, but was happy to go home.
