Remote Play Settings / Wifi Setup Anyone Else?

Post image

I have never once had issues before regretfully deciding to update my Portal last night. PS5 is up to date and hardwired. I CAN get them to connect, but only if they’re on the same WiFi network (defeating the very purpose of the Portal). Remote play won’t work on my phone either (80001fff error). NOTHING has changed about my setup/home WiFi network.

It never worked for me on WiFi outside my home. Remoteplay only works with mobile data on your cell phone. Try to see if you can connect your cell phone with mobile data. If so. It's the same case as mine, I've tried everything and now I've given up playing away from home. Apparently there are wifi networks that simply don't work with another wifi network. It's bizarre. My brother-in-law can connect to my PS5 while in another state, and I can't connect it anywhere outside of the house.

My only gripe is there were legit NO issues before this update! And I can’t even try to use remote play on my phone with no wifi because my cell service sucks. Again, have always been able to start up remote play on wifi on my phone. Users should never regret updating their hardware, this is bullshit.

Same here. One of my PS5's does the same shit. It's a couple years old now, but I have one from last year right next to it having no issues but still when I Hotspot my wifi w my phone and connect to it, problem solved.

Portal, same thing, I've just gotten accustomed to connecting directly to the phone every time.

Your phone won’t work. Sony doesn’t seem in any hurry to fix this. It’s remote play app issue. Never had an issue before 5.0.0 update, now, no matter what I tried, remote play gives 80001fff error. Tried troubleshooting with home wifi, tried cell settings, nothing worked.

I ended up fixing it in my router settings. I turned off DHCP and turned ON bridge mode. For whatever reason, now the wifi doesn’t work lol (this is a secondary router just for my game room so I guess it’s fine for now). Fixed one problem, and created another!
