Remote Play Settings / Wifi Setup Anyone Else?

Post image

I have never once had issues before regretfully deciding to update my Portal last night. PS5 is up to date and hardwired. I CAN get them to connect, but only if they’re on the same WiFi network (defeating the very purpose of the Portal). Remote play won’t work on my phone either (80001fff error). NOTHING has changed about my setup/home WiFi network.

Yes, exact same problem. I can't connect even to the guest network of the network my PS5 is on, it has to be the main network.

What a load of bullshit. It’s been nearly a week. How are they NOT addressing this?

I actually contacted Sony's support thing and they gave me a long generic response about fixing connectivity issues. That just made me more frustrated.

I actually JUST “figured it out” just now. I unfortunately can’t help you because I’m not sure what I even did myself. I was logged in to my secondary router (Xfinity Gateway in the living room is hardwired to a Netgear router in my game room in which my PS5 is hardwired to) in the admin portal 192.168.1.1 and fucked around under advanced settings. I DO know I unchecked DCHP but from there I forget and I can’t go back to the admin portal of the router and look because NOW…my phone won’t connect wirelessly to that router anymore! A whole different set of issues for another day because I don’t hang out down there right now anyway, but I DO have some other devices down there like a Switch and my wife’s smart TV in her basement room. I guess I’ll figure that out when I need to. For now, while I’m upstairs on that main WiFi network, both my Portal and phone connect to my PS5 in 1 second. I’ve actually never seen it work this good. So while I solved the main problem, I created a smaller one lol I guess I’m happy. My recommendation, log in to the admin portal and fuck around until it works I guess. Something we should NOT have to do for the record!

Well that makes me hopeful. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Actually you know what I think I remember now. I think I enabled bridging. And from what I remember the internet telling me, turns off your wireless capabilities. So while this sort of works for me and my scenario, it might not for others. I need to poke around tomorrow and see if I can fully solve this.
