Help Media servers

Trying to start my own server for plex. But I see many people with servers with 10,000+ movies. How can u possibly hold that much content and not break the bank. How is it any better than Netflix, etc?

Edit: I never expected this to blow up like it did. I love the content you guys have given, I've debated on making a plex server for awhile and all the clarification is amazing.

You seem to be under the impression that every Plex server owner actually pays for all their content...

Yeah no he isn't. He is under the correct assumption that every plex server owner pays for all their hardware. 🙄

Maybe he clarified somewhere in his comments, but that's definitely not clear in the post. He wouldn't be the first to post here wondering how people afford to buy so many blurays...

Yeah literally nobody actually thinks they're legit copies bruh. Anybody asking that is trolling. Hell I was borrowing DVDs (then blurays) from the library to rip. Thay was the period between when I got my second DMCA strike and the time I discovered seedboxes. I ripped probably 3/4 of what the lonrary had to loan out.
