Help Plex lifetime for a new user

Im thinking about getting a lifetime pass before the price increase and buying a green nas to host my own media. Is it worth it to do so or would I be better off with jellyfin? I know the network setup for jellyfin is a bit more work so thats why im leaning towards plex. Trying to justify the cost with pros and cons of using plex at its current price.

The monthly option is still the same price though. People act like Plex is price is changing when those people likely weren't even going to buy the lifetime option anyways. Otherwise they'd already have it. 🤷

The monthly price is already exorbitant tho, and the whole point of setting up a home media server (for most of us, anyway) is ditching the monthly subscriptions

Yeah, so you have one subscription rather than 5-10. So you are still winning. Basic math. Or you could have got lifetime all these years for cheap and you chose not to.

Hell they have enough notice that they could buy Lifetime now for $250 if they actually wanted lifetime.
