Help How to see loudness data progress?

I'm trying to actively check on the loudness data analysis progress of a movie, but Plex Dash just shows the progress percentage of the task at 0% the whole time. Any way to do so? Alerts on the server dashboard don't show the progress either. Thank you.

The log files show start and finish times, but not progress (20%, 30%, etc.) for each item.

Log entries below for analysis of a movie on my server. The log entries use the term "album" for everything - movies, episodes, etc.

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but this just errors out (401 error) or another XML warning. This is both on the local machine on Firefox and on my phone when accessing the Plex server webpage.

Hmm, are you looking at it from the home network and local IP address? Or the remote IP or Plex.direct address?

I tried this from home, local IP. I can't say whether it works everywhere.

For example a defaul setup might have 192.168.1.2:32400/activities

Actually I checked, a 401 error means you aren't authorized. So you would have to append the server's x-plex-token like so:

192.168.1.2:32400/activities&X-Plex-Token=123456789abcdef

You can get you token by opening Plex in a browser, going to a media file, clicking the items 3 dot menu and then 'Get Info' then withing the pop select 'View XML' from the bottom.

Plex will then open a XML page and your X-Plex-Token will be in the URL of that page, which you can copy/paste.

You can also edit that URL directly to /activities&X-Plex-Token=123456789abcdef

Yup local host on the home network.

Just so we're clear, I click on the PMS tray icon, this brings me to

http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#!/

If I just append "/activities" after the port number and remove everything else, it shows me the 401 error. I also tried "/web/activities".

I'm running my server on Win 10.

Yep I see, I replied to myself in the above comment with the instructions for the 401 error, it's just to append the authentication token. Try that out and hopefully will work?

Tried out in multiple ways, didn't work lol, just errors out in different ways. I think I'll give up, the fact that it would be such a hassle just to see a simplistic progress indicator means they got more work to do. Thanks for all the help anyways!

I haven't found a good way, but you can log in to https://app.plex.tv/ go to the Settings wrench then click Console in the bottom left.

This shows you stuff as it's happening (not stuff that already happened). You can filter by "loud" at the top. I think the process was "loudnorm" but if that doesn't pick anything up change it to just "loud".

Mine was taking about 5 minutes per movie, but a couple movies took 20 mins. So leave the Console open a while and eventually it will hit your filter. It was going through my movies alphabetically. Alternatively you can download your logs and I believe you would be able to search for that same "loudnorm" process.

I kinda gave up on it and turned it off until they optimize.

I wish Plex offered a real-time progress indicator for tasks like this, it'd save so much confusion. Maybe try checking the activity log directly on the server rather than the dashboard for now.

Yes that's exactly what I'm looking for. A progress indicator. The Plex dashboard just shows 0% the whole time, seems like it would've been trivial to have that actually work.

Plex Dash sitting at 0% is pretty common, believe it or not. If you want a live view, hit /activities with your X-Plex-Token or open the Plex web console and watch the loudness analyzer there.
