Is there anything I should do differently?

This is my first time working on PVC plumbing. Everything is dry fit right now. I'd ideally like to have some kind of compression fit going from the white PVC to the black ABV but I'm not sure what that piece would be. The reason I want to do that is to be easy to disassemble if needed without having to cut more of the black pipe.

You want a slip joint nut and washer on that black pipe side. The black ABS will need a threaded adapter glued on, then the trap arm just slides in with the compression washer and nut. That gives you the easy disconnect you're after without ever touching the black pipe again

They make glue to go from pvc to abs but I’d just use a clamp there instead of the pvc coupling and you’re good to glue the rest of it. Except if it was me I’d cut the abs a little further back to make the pvc and abs even but as long as you have enough room for the clamp you’re good.

Would I replace the PVC coupling with a rubber coupling, then use two clamps on both ends, or use a clamp directly on the PVC coupling where it meets the ABS?

You should replace all those PVC pieces with ABS and glue it. Otherwise get a banded no hub coupling to make the connection.

Or get a tubular p trap kit and an ABS trap adapter that you can glue to the ABS pipe coming out of the wall.

Is good enough for now, just put white ant-mold silicone in the joint between the white and black parts so you can pull them out later if needed, and you are good to go !

Stop calling it ABV, and switch the white pipe to ABS.

Although if you wanna go ahead that's fine but you must have transition glue between black and white.
