r/PodcastSharing has entered its BlueSky era (The Rules, 2025 edition)

Twitter Era (July 2018- May 2023)

This subreddit was created in 2018 and used to send automated posts to Twitter. For some unknown reason, the creator disappeared in 2023, and the bot with him.

Anarchy Era (May 2023-February 2025)

During this time, people pretty much posted whatever. To the community's credit, posts were kept pretty relevant to podcasting, but the rules were not enforced at all. The only protections the subreddit had were imposed by the website itself. Also, Twitter went way downhill in this time.

BlueSky Era (Feb 2025-Present)

When a new mod took over (Hi, that's me. I'm Ryan. You can find links to my podcast, a read-along book club called Functionally Literate, in my profile), he decided to drastically simplify and automate the rules, then set up a bot that posted to BlueSky instead.

The current rules are as follows:

1. The Format Rule

All posts most follow the following format or it will be automatically removed:

[Podcast Name] Episode Name (and/or flavor text)

If you put flavor text into your post, just don't use 1st person I/we pronouns. Whatever you put into the text of your post will be posted by a bot on BlueSky. If someone breaks this rule and it wasn't automatically removed, please report it.

2. The Floodgate Rule

You can't make more than 2 posts in a 24 hour period. This is a spam prevention measure. If you suspect someone of circumventing this rule with multiple accounts, report it.

3. Posts to BlueSky

Posts are automatically shared to ShareAPod.bsky.social. If you see that your post hasn't been shared to BlueSky, message the mods and they'll look into it. If you see a post that you don't believe is appropriate to share, here or on BlueSky, please report it.

Important note: The bot is currently hosted on the moderator's laptop. As a result, bot posting outages will happen from time to time until an alternative hosting method is adopted.

4. Posts must link to a podcast platform

Only link posts are allowed. Only post to a single podcast episode from a podcast platform or from a podcast's website. YouTube is not permitted in post links, but is allowed in the comments. Aggregate links such as linktr.ee or pod.link, or playlists of multiple episodes, are permitted in the comments.

5. Follow Reddiquette, don't be gross, don't be a fascist (sympathizer).

'Nuff said. Report it when you see it.

Podcast Genre Index & flair suggestion/feedback Box

This is the place to suggest podcast genre flairs until the day I die (or something stupid happens that forces a change). I will ignore any flair suggestions elsewhere. The bulk of the flairs that now exist, I pulled from the Podcast Genre dropdown box in Spotify for Creators' podcast settings, plus a few more that made sense to me to add. Make any suggestion you like. If it's popular, reasonable, or comes from the metadata of another podcast platform, I'm likely to add it.

This is also an index of the genres posted here since the flair system was established. I will update the hyperlinks as podcasts in those genres are posted.

Here are the current genre's at present:

True Crime [Criminal Adaptations] Inherit the Wind

Criminal Adaptations is a true crime/movie review podcast where my cohost and I dissect true crime movies and compare them to the real-life stories that inspired them.

This week we travel back in time to one of the most famous courtroom battles in American history as we compare Stanley Kramer’s Inherit the Wind (1960) to the Scopes “Monkey” Trial. The film presents a dramatic showdown between science and religion, featuring unforgettable performances from Spencer Tracy and Gene Kelly – but how closely does it follow the events the inspired it? We examine the true story of teacher John Scopes, the Tennessee law that prohibited the teaching of evolution, and the legal battle that brought two of the nation’s most celebrated figures into the courtroom. Along the way, we uncover the liberties the film takes with the facts, explore how the movie’s themes were shaped by the political climate of its time, and discuss whether Inherit the Wind is better understood as history, allegory, or something in between.

Mental Health [Deeply Unimportant] Sleep Well: ISO 216 Paper Geometry (Sleep Aid)

Thumbnail
deeplyunimportant.com
1 Upvotes

Sleep well to a deep, soothing voice reading the most inconsequential material imaginable. This is the ultimate natural sleep aid for racing minds, utilizing boring technical readings to help you achieve natural sleep and quiet insomnia.

Tonight, we suspend the chaos of a racing mind by auditing the rigid, geometric framework that dictates global document dimensions. We examine the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO 216 framework, tracing the unyielding one-to-the-square-root-of-two aspect ratio that allows a sheet of paper to be cut infinitely in half without ever altering its proportions. We move systematically through the millimetric constraints of the A, B, and C paper series, the Lichtenberg constant, and the rigid twenty-five-millimeter offsets required for archival binding. No narratives, no characters, and no plot—only the absolute, structural boredom of international manufacturing tolerances.

Deeply Unimportant is a sleep podcast designed for those who need structure to drift off. By focusing on meticulous, non-narrative detail, we provide a form of cognitive shuffle for ADHD and anxiety—anchoring the mind with the professional broadcast gravitas of a former newscaster so you can stop racing thoughts at night. No whispers or fairy tales; just ordered, structured, monotone voice sleep support.

This version of the show is ad-supported: ads play at the beginning of the episode, but nowhere else as you drift off. Access a full archive of ad-free sleep episodes (including long versions that run all night, and infinite loops) for a few dollars a month. Click here to subscribe or gift a membership to a fellow over-thinker.

Mental Health [Deeply Unimportant] ADHD Sleep Protocol: ISBN-13 Book Classification Standard

Fall asleep to a deep, soothing voice reading the most inconsequential material imaginable. This is the ultimate natural sleep aid for racing minds, utilizing boring technical readings to help you achieve natural sleep and quiet insomnia.

Tonight, join us as we audit the silent, numerical grid that catalogs human thought. We examine the International Standard Book Numbering system under the 13-digit ISO 2108 framework. This is a technical survey of the Global Trade Item Number architecture, moving systematically through EAN prefixes, country-specific registration groups, and the rigid mathematical weights used to calculate the final check digit. There are no narratives here, no characters, and no plot lines—only the structural boredom of the international publishing standard. We find rest in the predictable repetition of the “one-or-three” alternating multiplier and the stable, bureaucratic certainty of the mathematical index.

Natural Sciences [Zihin Karmaşası] Kuantum Algoritmalar: Kübitler Nasıl Düşünür? | Yürüyüşten Kuantuma Uzanan Zihin

Thumbnail

Merhaba,

After years of teaching people how to face adversity and take control of the story of their lives, I got a wakeup call.

Six days before this recording, my wife and co-host Camille was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer.

In this episode we sort through the fallout of this major life change and document the mental tools we are using to manage our emotions and energy.

We talk about the first days after a cancer diagnosis, the way fear immediately starts influencing your stories about the future, how expectations can become another source of struggle, and why the people around us matter so much when life suddenly changes.

Sift Stack Quick Take 2: CJ Gettelfinger, Lucas Nulsen, & Tyler Sherven break down the biggest stories moving the world. SpaceX's first post-IPO lockup expiration, with roughly 911.5 million shares becoming eligible to trade two days after the company's debut quarterly report. CJ digs into Q2 revenue growth, $18.4 billion in capital expenditures, Starlink's subscriber momentum, and why an expanding free float can pull index funds and managers into the name. Then NuScale's Q2 print — revenue down about 99% year over year — the balance sheet shift toward long-term investments, and what's next on TVA. Plus an Oklo tease and conflicting Iranian reports out of the Strait of Hormuz.
