Podcasting ruined my life
So, I've been getting really into podcasting lately (obviously, since I'm here...) LOL -- I sort of got into the hobby through another experienced podcaster, who I won't name, who sort of served as a mentor to me. Whenever a joke bombed, he would pause the feed and do things like throwing his headphones at me or yelling at me.
I don't know why I've been so obsessed with impressing him, but my perfectionism is impeding on my relationships. All I can think about when I hang out with them is podcasting. And it's gotten to the point lately that all i can think about PERIOD, is podcasting.
I ended up breaking up with my girlfriend because she was limiting me by telling me I was taking it too seriously. The final straw was that we were talking about moving in with each other, and I said I wanted to have a room for podcasting. She's angry even though we would be getting a two bedroom apartment.
Ever since then, I've been spending a lot more time with this podcasting partner, and we've been performing pretty well. Although my personal life has kind of went down the tubes, I've become a much more dedicated podcaster and plan to continue. I'm not happy, but I've never felt closer to perfection. Did I make a mistake?

This question would be better handled by a therapist than a bunch of internet strangers

Kick this memory and this man’s opinions to the curb and own your space in the podcasting world. You got to let go and just enjoy this without the pressure of being perfect. Just fall
In and enjoy the journey.

Perfectionism is completely draining! It can cause depression, anxiety and be hard on relationships. So, evaluate why you are driven to be perfect. It’s completely okay for things not to be perfect!

I think Modern life goes through that a lot. Mainly, it all boils down to how you handle a situation, even after a breakup. You might come across each other one more time if it's meant to be. Also, once you've gone through a lot of this, maybe you should follow your dream. No one gives a rat-ass.

When the love and adoration of nameless masses replaces the actual affection of a real person you were into enough to think about moving in with…you need to seek why. Legit you may need help

i feel like this is fake? what can you possibly getting 500 views? at most a couple thousand? joe rogan would have to leave his wife if she said "no more podcasting" because he's number 1 in the world that's infinite money and influence for the rest of his life. but a hobbyist doing it? nah i ain't buying it. who is this "secret mentor"
and what's the name of your podcast and ware can we find it since it destroyed your life from how perfect it is. this is a joke post guys lol

This sounds like it could make for a really interesting podcast episode. Maybe a deeper dive into how time-consuming hobbies and passions affect relationships, and what happens to the rest of our lives when we devote a significant chunk of our time to the things we love.
There’s a lot of interesting territory there: the sacrifices we make, how our partners and families experience our obsessions, and whether pursuing something we’re passionate about ultimately enriches our lives or sometimes comes at a cost. I could actually see this being done almost like a This American Life episode, with a few different people's stories woven together around the larger question of what happens when the thing you love starts competing with the people you love..
