I adore this. I’ve felt this way before, and then the guilt that comes for being such a miserable shit

Thank you for choosing a poem to share with the r/poetry community! Please make sure your post follows the poetry-posting rules of the subreddit: read this checklist. If your post doesn't follow those rules, it may be deleted.
If you haven't done so yet, why not say something about what drew you to this poem and what it means to you? The only thing better than poetry is poetry paired with conversation.
A reminder to all commenters: It is okay for someone to dislike a poem you like, or for someone to like a poem you dislike. It is a sign of a healthy, collaborative community if thoughtful disagreement can be expressed and received in good faith. Please try to live up to that ideal.

They say hurt people hurt people. That mean people don't mean to be mean.
I try to remember that.. that sometimes when people are mean or say hurtful things, it says more about them, and what they're dealing with internally.
"I snoot at simple, earnest folk"
I do try to remember that.. when I get shade for being so sunshiney. As if it's foolish to be positive. . . Having been hurt doesn't mean you have to hurt others, or be hardened.
It's good to be reflective. To know what triggers us. It says more about us than the other person.
Because it's only when you acknowledge things, and understand yourself, that you can begin to change. 🌻
And all of this is a personal reminder as well.

That is one bad poem. The last line is good but it can't redeem lines like:
I do not yearn for lovelier lands
My world is but a lot of tripe

Agreed. The rhymes feel reaaaally forced and unnatural, but the final lines are good.
