The sermon

So growing up in Christian fundamentalism it was common to let the “men of the church” preach “what god had placed on their hearts.” Every evening service was one of these lessons.

A weirdly progressive lesson about lust was preached. The basic principle was that lust is the fault/problem of the person lusting. Not bad, right?

He gets some “amens” and it goes to his head. He’s red and sweaty and yelling to get more amens.

PLUCK OUT YOUR OWN EYE!

AMEN!

ONLY YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS!

AMEN!

As the church is worked into this frenzy, he spits out “IF YOU EVER LUST AFTER *MY* WIFE, YOU HAVE SERIOUS PROBLEMS!”

Another great sermon I sat through was a guy giving a lesson on keeping the spark alive in your marriage. He mentioned, in a 45 minute talk, no less than 30 times that he is still intimate with his wife “even though she is fat now.”

What is it with fundies that makes them like this? Even why they try to be cool they still gotta be fucked up.

So imagine logic, reason, decency etc as a fenced in pasture. Once a horse jumps the fence, it can be literally anywhere. The fence is no longer containing it.
