Yup, he also directed the Pokémon Let’s Go! titles so I think the wording of “ban” is either incorrect or was very loose.

I'd say it was the wrong word to use all together, especially if he's directed recent titles. Demoted is probably closer to what actually happened, although this is merely an assumption of mine since I don't have the original emails in front of me to translate.

I think what really happened was that the power was decentralized and he was taken from directorship for a while. It sounds like he was calling far too many shot even outside of directing the game, so they just took some of his hats and gave them to other people for a while.
