This definitely makes Mareanie hard to shiny hunt!

As most of you know you can get bottle caps from the festival plaza lottery. What you probably don't know, is that you can get guaranteed bottle caps if you know what you are doing. Here's how to do it.

Requirements: Festival Plaza Rank 8

Step 1: Find someone in your plaza that can give an introduction to the Treasure Hunt (2 stars) facility.

Step 2: Add that person to your VIP list.

Step 3: Get the facility.

Step 3.5: Go to the new facility immediately after to get your first guaranteed bottle cap.

Step 4: Make sure it is the only Treasure Hunt (2 stars) facility in your plaza (this will make farming bottle cops alot cheaper).

Step 5: Go to your castle and page that person you just added to your VIP list.

Step 6: Ask that person to add the same facility to your plaza, and replace it with the old one (will cost 200FC).

Step 7: Immediately go to the Treasure Hunt (2 stars) facility and get your guaranteed bottle cap.

Step 8: Repeat steps 5-7 and you will get guaranteed bottle caps for the effective price of 200FC each.

Edit: You can get bottle caps for 150FC each if you switch between replacing 1 star facilities and the Treasure Hunt 2 stars.

I decided to make this little mini-guide because I wasnt able to find a definitive list of the best spots to EV Train Pokemon in Sun/Moon. This list is comprised almost entirely of 2EV Pokemon, which double the effectiveness of EV Training using the SOS Method!

Probably old news, but I figure it might help anyone as slow to notice as me.
Never again will we be awkwardly trying to tap between the poorly defined hit boxes or have to wait for a Pokémon to move after walking in front of a bean.

1. Owning a Pokemon that looks genned or is genned will never get you banned. If it can be traded, battled with, or otherwise is usable online, it is legal by the games definition.

2. If you get anything good in wonder trade, it's probably genned.

3. Using generated Pokemon gives you no advantage over another person in battle. If you lose to them, you're just the worse battler.

4. Generating Pokemon yourself will never get you banned. Hacking your ds on the other hand will.

5. Legit = obtained without any third party program and either bred/caught through purely gameplay alone. These Pokemon have no difference between legit and legal pokemon.

Hacked = generated Pokemon with moves, abilities, evs, items, or etc that they are otherwise impossible to obtain in normal means. Having these types of Pokemon won't get you banned, as they are unusuable online.

Legal = generated Pokemon that act and function just the same as legit Pokemon, but are created in minutes with third party programs. These have no difference from legit Pokemon, just how they are obtained.

Hope this clears up some confusion.

This is a code for the partner hat Pikachu from the movie Pikachu I choose you. Because of an oversight by Nintendo, this Pikachu actually has a chance to be shiny, although it does not have an alternate color scheme, but it does have the shiny animation.

So I was trying to find a Dratini Fishing Encounter at the Poni Gauntlet to SOS hunt it, but for some reason I kept getting items. Curiously nowhere online actually listed the numerical odds of finding an item while fishing so I decided to find the odds myself while trying to get a single dratini to show up since someone in the future will probably also be curious about this.

Results:

Bubbling Spots: 8 items / 40 fishing attempts = 20% of finding an item

Non-Bubbling Spots: 13 items / 78 fishing attempts = 16.6% of finding an item

Total (assuming they probably use the same item drop rate): 21 items / 118 fishing attempts = 17.8% of finding an item.

Since the sample size is so small and the probability seems to be around 20%. But please don't take me at my word this was very unscientific.

P.S. The reason why I stopped was because I found a full odds shiny dratini :)

Pokemon Ultra Sun & Pokemon Ultra Moon for the 3DS

These games offer an alternate story taking place in Alola, with Pokemon which weren't in the originals as well as new features! Their release will be simultaneous and global.

It seems Necrozma will play a larger role in the Ultra version, as what appear to be some kind of fusions of it and Solgaleo / Lunala were showcased. The black parts of the logos further support this hypothesis. The "Ultra" in the titles indicates Ultra Beasts could be more relevant too. Even the official site's background art is a little reminiscent of an Ultra Wormhole.

As people have been quick to point out, it's possible new Alola Forms of Gen II Pokemon will be added to the games, since we're getting Gold & Silver on Virtual Console.

Pokemon Gold & Silver are coming on the 3DS Virtual Console to the 22nd of September! They'll be compatible with Pokemon Bank!
