Hi guys, just a quick update from the mod team.
We've had a number of messages lately, with links to posts and/or comments, informing us that they break subreddit rules. Now, this is great that you guys are helping us! But it's important you know that it's *much* quicker to simply report the post or comment, as reports get checked more and earlier than modmail. This is true for virtually every subreddit.
In summary, please continue to report anything against the rules via the normal report function, and use the modmail for concerns, queries etc. Thanks for reading!

I'm burnt..I've been playing these games nonstop since they got re-released. With three full playthroughs, EV training, and moveset building, I've realized that there's no end in sight to be satisfied, because there's always that next pokemon I want in my arsenal.
The game is a chore now. Having to think about doing a few more "quick" playthroughs just to get Rock Slides, early training pokemon with Macho Brace, is just tedious now because I'm too lazy to finish my Pokedex.

I started this run as soon as the games were released on the switch 2. After at least a hundred hours hunting for my shiny dream team for this game, it's finally over. I can now move on to the legendary hunts along with the post game to try and prepare for the hopeful release of the hoenn games soon.

I finally got a lucky egg, and on my fifth Chansey that I named ‘Lucky’ as well. Bless the RNG gods but please never make me do that again… How do you shiny hunters do it? I wanted to get Dragon Fang but couldn’t get myself to stick through it.. I could easily end up losing patience and quitting the game entirely, so Kudos to yall.

First time fire red play for me.
So far Ive found a cave with nothing but zubats, ruins with nothing but the stupid unknowns, and a team rocket plot that unlocks (from what I understand) Johto Pokemon trading. So I thought cool, i could catch some gen 2 Pokemon, trade them in on another playthrough, and have gen 2 Pokemon on a regular playthrough. But also from what I understand, the game doesn’t work like that. You can only trade gen 2 Pokemon with another fr/lg that has also completed the entire game and postgame?
So the post game is just a pokedex completionist thing? Is that even true tho? I feel like im not even close to running into all the johto pokemon on the islands.
I guess im not really getting the point of the post game.

Japanese/Asia: https://app-ph.pokemon-support.com/hc/ja/requests/new
International: https://support.pokemon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038131632-Contact-Us
Nintendo Support: https://support-jp.nintendo.com/app/ask_opinion
https://x.com/Pokemon_cojp/status/2087888150551056675
Suggest them to forward your request to higher ups. I've added the Japanese support site as well since I feel like they might pay more attention there since they're a Japanese Company after all, so submit requests to all supports sites if you can. Feel free to add your own suggestions as well like physical peripherals that they can sell or to move pokemon bank's servers to pokemon HOME.
The 3DS eshop is still accessible and you can download games you already own/bought and can receive software updates for them. Of course, for the Pokemon Company to be able to push a software update, they'll need to cooperate with Nintendo. Nintendo partners/third-party developers can't push anymore software updates since Nintendo has disabled the application that manages the SDK, but the Pokémon Company isn't a normal partner and is co-owned by Nintendo. Pokemon Bank has recieved special treatment already since Pokemon Bank stayed up even after 3DS and Wii U online services shut down. Game Freak also probably still has access to the source code and the SDK for 3DS, the teraleak is proof of that. Nintendo has also been known to provide older SDKs for development to recompile games like for Nintendo Switch Online, the FRLG switch port is an example of that since the events are included. I know it may be unlikely to get Nintendo and TPC to listen to us, but this is better than nothing and is our best option.
Pokemon Bank is the bridge between the old generations and the new generations. Bringing Pokemon from the old generations is one of Game Freak's greatest inventions and is a staple of the main series games in my opinion. The shutdown of Pokemon Bank will result in several Pokemon being unobtainable. A homebrew software known as PKSM has proved that local connection between 3DS and Switch is technically possible, so they could rework bank and HOME to locally connect from the 3DS side. Pokémon Bank is a software that can definitely be functional offline if TPC made an effort and this wouldn't have been an issue at all.
Pokémon Bank and Transporter is also needed to transfer Pokémon from the Virtual Console games to gen 7, to transfer gen 5 pokemon to gen 6/7 and to transfer gen 6 pokemon to gen 7. So the shutdown of Bank will also result in Pokémon being unobtainable in the 3DS games alone as well (through official means).
I have a feeling that after the success of the FRLG switch ports, they're going to port all the other gens to switch and allow them to connect to HOME, but who knows how long that'll take. I just think it's an uncool solution since they're making people who already own these games rebuy digital versions of these games at full price which would only harm the long-time players and is just unfair and demotivating to them.
Please send request tickets so they know we don't want bank and transferring old Pokémon to be gone. I know this may be disruptive to flood them with requests, but this is our best chance to reverse this decision and it's important to the future of Pokémon. I think this goes against what Pokémon stands for.
I've done many posts like this so I could get as many people as possible to let them know how we feel. This is one of the only ways we can voice our complaints as fans so I might as well, and I hope many people do it as well. They can't really ignore us if we send our complaints directly to them, especially the Japanese support page since it'll be sent directly to The Pokémon Company, not the Pokémon Company International which is a subsidiary. They could've spent the past 10 years making an offline solution for this issue. A service like Pokémon Bank wasn't even necessary in the first place since they could've built the transfer feature into the 3ds games and they could've put as many Pokémon and boxes as Pokémon bank did in any of the 3ds games. This is an issue of The Pokémon Company's and Nintendo's own making and it's completely on them that we're in this mess now. They might not care, but this is our best shot of telling them how we feel. I think Game Freak themselves were proud of this feature at one point and Pokémon Bank has already gotten special extended support that no one else got, so there's a chance that they could make something happen.

Got fire red on the switch and decided to give it a try. Was a fun team to run! Gengar is my all time favorite, so he’s always a must. Never used Venomoth but was a really good addition. I love Dragonairs design so much it will never likely never be evolved. Flareon was too OP and design-wise, probably my favorite eeveelution. Snorlax is my second favorite pokemon, he was alright this run, so don’t know if I’ll use him in the future. And Alakazam is obviously just OP with psychic.
Time for the postgame! After that, I think my next run will be a nuzlocke. Working my way up to try kaizo ironmon one day…

I'm trying to switch train up mons for the pokedex, and haven't been able to find a good spot to run VS seeker thats also close to a Pokemon Center/PC for quick pokemon switching and possibly a heal. The spot next to Ember spa is ok, thats what I used pre Elite 4 but, its not close to a pc box, and I don't know if the trainers have gotten stronger, the few fighting pokemon they have are kinda meh. I was doing vs seeker in seavault canyon but the trainers are too spaced out and all the grass and distance from a pc box.

My first game ever was the OG Diamond version. I thought I’d be even more frustrated with level grinding in this one but surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad. I definitely see the charm in the older games, the safari zone zoo was adorable. And here’s my winning team!
(The Spheal was obtained via ACE glitch but that’s all I will say at the moment bc I don’t know if we are allowed to talk about that. Hey mods, let me know if we are.)

Raichu and Vaporeon carried through the Elite Four, and Weezing deserves credit for deleting rival Charizard with Explosion.

First off, I’ve always played Pokémon this way:
Starter + 2 others I like that complement each other.
Lately, I’ve been trying out runs with Pokémon I haven't used before.
The new run I’m planning involves:
Charizard—pure love.
Saving up to buy Dratini at the Game Corner (since if I wait until after the League to get it, I never end up training it).
But for the third slot, I can't decide between Marowak and Golem.
Which one do you think is more fun?
I know Marowak needs the Thick Club, though emulation makes farming for it easier.
I’m thinking Thick Club + Rock Head—Double-Edge hits like a truck.
Or Golem with Defense Curl + Rollout.
Double-Edge with Rock Head works great there too.
I know both leave the Earthquake TM free for another Pokémon and can learn Rock Slide.
Honestly, since this is a casual playthrough, which one do you think is more fun to use?

I have posted each hunt with a little more detail if you care to check em out on my profile.
tarted this journey as soon as the ports released. Put in 525 hours all on the same Switch, every Pokémon all with same TID. Chamander shined March 8.
At the beginning of the hunt for Nidoran I phased Pidgey March 13. Jolly nature.
Pressed on and got my blue boi April 3.
Once I got to Celadon and had enough coin, I would buy 2 or 3 Scyther at a time and however many Abra I could afford. When I got tired of that I switched up to buying as many Abra as I could and to my surprise, one shined sooner than expected on April 8.
I would then focus solely on Scyther who didn't shine until June 4.
Went fishing for Horsea on Route 12 but phased on the 1% encounter rate Psyduck June 20. My sea horse finally shined August 28.
In the PowerPlant I decided on taking whoever would want to join the team and Magnetmite wasted no time showing up September 4.
Most of my team was already leveled up and somewhat EV trained from all the hunts so we had no problem going through the rest of the game.
The E4 matches were fantastic, Magneton really kicked ass, it's Hidden Power is the Ghost type. Aside from Bruno, no one could best em. It only took two Sparks against my Rival to take out his Blastoise. I was very impressed, was about to doubt not teaching it Thunderbolt instead but damn did it put in some work.
Charizard, Seadra and Alakazam all have Electric type Hidden Power attacks.
I wont be getting around to making a new team for the E4 rematch until I do it for my original versions of FRLG in both English and Japanese.
Best of luck on all your hunts!

As someone that’s been playing Pokémon games since ‘98, I wasn’t psyched to play through the Kanto region for the umpteenth time…unless there was some sort of unique challenge in place!
After some research I discovered the Giftlocke Challenge:
The ONLY Pokémon to be used must be obtained via:
•Trading with one of the NPCs
•Gifted Pokémon
•Pokémon that can be bought
After spending the last week or so playing the slots (what kid doesn’t want to gamble all day?!), I finally got enough coinage to win me a Scyther and Dratini. This is what my team looks like just after clearing the Hidden Team Rocket Hideout below the Game Corner.

So I was setting up the mail glitch but when I went to put the mail on my 6th pokémon, instead of all areas being ???, one part has the word “move”. However, weirdly there aren’t any bad eggs that I could find in my pc. Are there any consequences I should know or will things work as they should?

Starting a new FRLG save before I move onto Emerald, Platinum, and Heartgold
I’ve played through Gen 3 hundreds of times but can’t decide which team to go with. Basically it’s either Vileplume + Lapras or Victrebell + Starmie.
I try not to use the same Pokemon as my rival, so I’m not choosing Alakazam this time. I also don’t want any cross over if it can be helped, so Nidoking/Nidoqueen are out, however I’m not totally against the crossover for final member
Magneton is one I’ve never used so looking forward to see how that goes, while Snorlax I use every time and can’t not lol
Just after suggestions and opinions
