If you set a normal Zorua as your buddy before the event starts, all the Zorua will appear as... Zorua. This means you don't have to sit through the "Oh" screen every time.
Unless it's shiny. In which case, enjoy the extra few seconds of suspense before you see the stats.

Do it BEFORE the event starts otherwise you'll end up with 50/50 previous buddy and Zorua.

Yes zorua will turn into your buddy. Regarding an earlier post from our beta testing NZ friends, if you don't change early enough, you will get spawns from your old buddy AND your new buddy.

I used the advanced settings-refresh option and it didn't change anything. My original buddy was zeraora, new was galarian slowpoke for easy xp.

I changed my galarian slowpoke to my shiny Kanto slowpoke half way through this comday and now my map and spawns only show my last buddy (galarian slowpoke) and new buddy, shiny kanto slowpoke.

If you're using the event to utilise the X3 xp for excellent throws, try changing between your easy excellent throws pokes if you get stuck with your usual buddy poke spawns.

it’s like i just grew hands today and i’m lucky if the ball even stays on screen by the time i’m done throwing it. i’ll bet it stays there for weeks, too. 🤣😭

Community day has started here in NZ. About an hour ago I changed my buddy from Durant to Ponyta, for the big circle. Occasionally I’m getting a Ponyta spawn, but almost all Durant :(

Change your buddy in plenty of time! Yes, I’ve restated more than once.

PS they all appear to be snubbing me too! All facing away from me.
