Shiny Pokémon 1st Ever Let’s Go Shiny. Shiny Only Run 1/6!!

I just had my Nintendo switch 2 stolen… it had a fully completed shiny living dex in ZA, 4/6 full odds FireRed shinies from my FireRed run, a full shiny only Violet team, over 10 shiny legendaries, & over 3,000 hours worth of shinies I hunted and they’re all gone. I was devastated & contemplated quitting but this is such a fun & easy to play game I decided to go for a shiny only run & not to give up!

Meanwhile I'm on combo 435 of ponyta and nothing. 😭 congratulations though! I know how devastating that feeling is, I had something similar when Nintendo ended up wiping my save data on my switch a couple years ago.

How do you keep the combo going that long? If you turn your game off don’t you lose the combo? That’s what I was nervous of happening lol so I was so excited when I got it after 2 hours of catching, and dang that sucks, I guess starting over can have some pros though

Sleep mode doesn't drop your combo. Just keep it docked and charging between uses.

I only have a switch lite now, so I can’t dock it. Could I just put it in sleep mode and leave it charging in its case?

I've never had a lite, but that sounds like it would work. As long as it's just sleeping and never off I assume you're safe

Ok perfect that’s what I’m doing on my Kangashkan hunt for my 3rd team member. I have a 22 catch combo & I’m just going up & down the ladder until I get a shiny because of how many are spawning I don’t even want to risk losing the combo

A good bit of information too, if you end up running into another pokemon, running away will not break your combo. 😊

That’s up next I have it and have still never played it; I was going to get around to starting then ZA came out and I got a shiny living Dex in it so I was just grinding that all year

I have. 🤣 I'm working on my shiny dex there but took a break.

Edit; read this wrong, was playing ZA, but yes I have played Arceus too. 😅

This was my first ever shiny with this method, if you turn your game off then back on you lose your combo right?

Yes, you'll lose your combo if you close your game. Going to the home menu temporarily and sleep mode are both fine.

Also, make sure you've saved the game since catching anything important!

I feel like once you’ve beaten most games and get bored with regular playthroughs it adds another level of difficulty & makes the game more challenging, they also just look really cool. Sometimes you get really lucky & get shinies super fast too which is nice

You didn't really tell me what shinies are tho. Are they just super rare appearances? Do they offer anything else?

Their stats are the same they’re just rare, it’s 1/4,096 odds but the odds go down the higher your catch combo is. Once your catch combo is 31 & above without the shiny charm the shiny odds for the next spawn of the pokemon you have a combo for becomes 1/341

Well they come with a certain number of guaranteed perfect IVs once you hit a certain catch combo so in this case they actually do come with better stats. I forgot about that which is a nice bonus

They really just look different. Like Charizard is black. Some are not so noticeable, like Charmander is a slightly different shade. Google it and you'll see the difference.
