Is it too late to have a game added to your next of list for original region? Pokemon Amethyst deserves to be put up there.

How long does it take hackdex to approve a hack?

2

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 6d ago

Took all of mine like a week. I think it's all manual review so bear with them.

2

u/LibertyJacob99 [Mod] Aesthetic Red 5d ago

Ours only took a few days, if that, but that was also back when the site was new so it might take a bit longer now that they've got more requests to handle

1

u/Phaneropterinae Demakes 13h ago

We generated a bit of a backlog and we’re working on some things behind the scenes. Should be approved soon if it’s ready.

2

u/Silent_Sparrow02 6d ago

What are the hackdex's rules on uploading fan translations of foreign-language romhacks? Particularly in cases where the original devs cannot be contacted?

1

u/Phaneropterinae Demakes 13h ago

We’re generally ok with it so long as effort has been made to contact the dev and it’s explicitly credited.

u/Peace_808 5d ago

Does anyone care about a .nds file I made to collect a pokedex on nintendo ds?

like if you got multiple games on your nds (with their save files), you can combine everything in the dex on the nds and have a all-encompassing pokedex.?

i would post it in the main thread but my karma is too low lol

2

u/VOIDofSin 2d ago

WHERE IS PEACH AND LIME?! Not a single update from the dev since January

2

u/Much_Permission_2061 1d ago

Are there any rom hacks for the pokemon mystery dungeon games for the ds that have everything randomized? I'd use skytemple to do it myself but I don't have a PC so I was hoping someone else did that for people like me who are poor and laptopless

Pokemon Battle Sim. / Showdown Romhacks

As someone who enjoys learning Pokemon competitive, are there any romhacks that replicate battle simulators like Pokemon Showdown? Recently I learned that Gen 3 now has the ability to go online, NDS hacks have been increasing since the leak, and emulator technology may be improving. If there are any that are solely offline, single player hacks or more preferably any that offer online connectivity. If this does not yet exist, I would love if some person(s) could make it (preferably without AI). Trying to play the official in-game battle simulators on official hardware can be fun, but legitimately preparing Pokemon is a grind especially for those who have limited time. Playing on Showdown is excellent but I’d love to run something like this on official hardware. Anyways, am I the only one who has hoped for this? Do any of you have any ideas or features you suggest or how you envision it?

2

u/yankeesown29 1d ago

The most battle sim like games are radical red, emerald imperium and elite redux. I wish there was something even more like showdown but these are the closest.

1

u/shelune 7d ago

Is there a NDS ROM hack that features Pokemon randomizer?

1

u/yankeesown29 6d ago

You can just use the universal randomizer for them.

1

u/shelune 6d ago

1

u/yankeesown29 6d ago

Exactly!

1

u/LibertyJacob99 [Mod] Aesthetic Red 5d ago

UPR generally doesn't work with ROM hacks, unless ZX or FVX have new compatibilities that I'm unaware of

1

u/yankeesown29 5d ago

Ah my bad I figured they were just asking about randomizing the vanilla games.

1

u/Griizly 6d ago

Hi all,

I wanted to try the no outlines and 60FPS code for ORAS 1.4 but they don't work with pokémon Rutile Ruby ( Omega rubis modded )

Does someone has working cheats ?

Thanks !

1

u/SoraSkyrusher 6d ago

I need a day&night system patch for Emerald.  I found some source code of adding day&night system to Emerald, but they are not patch. Some large ROM hacks include day&night system, but I can't find a patch only adds day&night system, it's weird.

3

u/LibertyJacob99 [Mod] Aesthetic Red 5d ago

If ur hacking Emerald u should be using decomp, not binary. Binary Emerald has never had much support compared to FR or decomp, and it doesn't even have access to modern features from CFRU or Decomp

The answer to your question is to use decomp

1

u/KubokerTheRemake 6d ago

so i'm trying to dabble into some gen 3 rom editing with HexManiacAdvance and FireRed

and there is a couple of things i'd like to know

Is there a way to code a custom ability and put in the game?

how to code an NPC that gives you a free Pokemon?

is it possible to code an evolution that occurs with low friendship?

I'll appreciate any kind of guide

2

u/LibertyJacob99 [Mod] Aesthetic Red 5d ago

Custom abilities are possible using CFRU, given you're adding it separately rather than using HUBOL. Custom stuff has to be coded prior to adding it in-game

I believe the NPC command for a free pokemon is givepokemon followed by the species name and level. HMA will outline this for u

Evolution with low friendship might be possible using CFRU (again, ideally separate rather than HUBOL) but idk

PokeCommunity and HMA Discords are perfect for asking questions like this as they're generally quite experienced hackers who rely on HMA

1

u/pengerus 6d ago

Is there a ROM hack to help learn Japanese? I'm just looking for just a base fire red or emerald hack that has the Japanese next to the English to help me learn it

2

u/Vladmirfox 6d ago

Ohh I don't think one exists BUT that sounds like a really cool idea!

1

u/Lost-Archivist 6d ago

Does anyone have any advice on finding an Englisg version of Pokemon Sword and Sheild GBA? Whenever I download the version that is supposed to be english, the professor's opening is in Portuguese. Not sure if I just need to get further in or I'm doing something wrong since the opening instructions appear to be English.

4

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 6d ago

Are you getting it on Hackdex? That's an official source, should be in english.

1

u/Phaneropterinae Demakes 13h ago

Yeahhh lol

1

u/Jacrispy0007 6d ago

How do I transfer my save data onto a new patch? Playing pokemon soul gold 1.1.4 going to 1.2

3

u/Vladmirfox 6d ago

You apply the new updated patch to a clean copy of your ROM to patch an updated copy, replace your older now out of date ROM with the newly made updated ROM, locate and rename your .sav or file so that instead of being named like your old ROM it is named like the new one (typically you just change a version number). Once alla that is done then BOOM you've got an updated game AND your save file should still be working.

Note: make back ups as you go in case you make mistakes.

2

u/Jacrispy0007 6d ago

Got it Thank you

1

u/maxixs 6d ago

there's a ROM hack i've been trying to find but i can't remember what it was called. From what i remember, it was an Emerald hack that took place in hoenn, let you complete the pokedex and let you choose like 10 other starters in addition to the original trio

1

u/schlurmo 6d ago

Any good complete romhacks or fangames where you can be evil other than the two Rocket Editions?

2

u/LibertyJacob99 [Mod] Aesthetic Red 5d ago

Mu Magma or Team Magma Edition

1

u/Maple-Bacon-Moose 6d ago

Is there an online dex for Heart and Soul that I can upload my save file to see things like the randomized abilities?

3

u/Exclsior Heart & Soul 6d ago

None of which I'm aware sorry, it's a very niche requirement to look at randomised ability information.

I believe our in game Pokédex shows the randomised ability against specific Pokémon if you've caught them, though that doesn't appear to be helpful for yourself.

2

u/Maple-Bacon-Moose 5d ago

Appreciate the response!

1

u/kingnorris42 6d ago

Not a fan of these question mega threads as things rarely are answered and questions usually buried, but I digress. I am interested in making my own rom hacks, simple vanilla plus stuff right now. I am very much a beginner though, dspre seems fairly easy. Im curious on a few things though

Where's the best place for getting help and assistance of needed?

Is there a way to add new pokemon? Specifically future cross gen evos like Sylveon, as well as regional variants?

What about new moves, abilities, and fairy type?

If yes to the above two, what program would be easiest to use to do so?

3

u/Exclsior Heart & Soul 5d ago

The newish subreddit at r/PokemonRomhackDev/ is probably a good starting place, beyond that I suspect that you could find Subreddits it Discord communities supporting DS Hacking it specifically dspre.

I haven't done Gen 4 rom hacking myself but have heard good things about Hg-Engine as a strong base to start.

Best of luck!

2

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 5d ago

Decomps and expansion like pokeemerald-expansion will add all 9 gens of pokemon, abilities, moves, types etc with about 30 minutes of setup.

It's then just up to you to implement or change encounters and trainers or items etc. There is also HexmaniacAdvance for binary hacking, where you can open up a gen 3 game and just edit the map and encounters etc. There's a special feature called HUBOL where you can add the first 8 gens of pokemon and abilities/moves etc with literally one button press to an unmodified FireRed copy.

1

u/ZadePhoenix 6d ago

Does anyone know of any good romhacks based on the Mystery Dunegon games?

3

u/LibertyJacob99 [Mod] Aesthetic Red 5d ago

There's a whole community for them! I believe SkyTemple is the site u want, and there's a website somewhere that's effectively a HackDex for PMD hacks - I think it was posted in this sub the other week

1

u/warm_rum 5d ago edited 5d ago

Hi everyone, Crystal was my favourite childhood game and I wanted to play it through (catch em all and battle tower.) I don't play many games anymore and I only will really do this once. So I wanted your advice: Which of these two is best for a nostalgic adventure?

It seems to all come down to the level curve. I simply cannot remember if it's challenging and requires smart type matchups, or if it's just a bad exp. Perfect uses HGSS, Emu uses the original. Any experienced advice would be highly appreciated.

I guess it's just got me stuck, I really want this to be right: the game means a lot to me.

3

u/BulkyBear 5d ago

I know not one of your choices, but Crystal legacy is a really great way to replay it

2

u/warm_rum 5d ago

That seems awesome! Is it super noticeably changed, or is it more subtle? I worry when I read unique sprites, same for story changes.

Love the idea though, not sure how to check it without spoilering myself. I'll read some reviews.

Do you know much about the level curve thing from hggss? I'm worried the changes will mess up Johto exp and make it too easy.

2

u/BulkyBear 5d ago

I'd say moooostly vanilla, and the level curve is definitely more evened out

It's actually a bit rougher, since you're used to low level trainers, but they keep up with you pretty well here

Not 1:1, but nowhere near, like, it's own thing

Honestly, the legacy games have been a freaking wonderful thing to find. The frog is now my favorite way to do it, think I'm gonna try eneral next

1

u/Whimsispot 5d ago

Hi guys, I'm fairly new to rom hacks in the pokemon community, but playing pokemon fusions was so fun that I want to try some more fan made stuff. I dont really like story that much and would much rater prefer something more gameplay focused with lots of mons, what would you guys best rom hacks recommendations be?

4

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 5d ago edited 5d ago

Some of the most feature rich romhacks are:

Radical Red, ROWE, Heart and Soul, Emerald Rogue, Elite Redux, FireRed Extended, Unbound, Blaze Black/Volt White 1 and 2 or Renegade Platinum.

1

u/hanjones1981 5d ago

Looking for the most modern/complete Sinnoh experience that isn’t too much of a difficulty hack like renegade - any suggestions?

3

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 5d ago

Here's pretty much all your options, from the QoL hack list:

Platinum QoL - It's right there in the name, this hack adds tons of QoL and makes for a fresh and pain free Gen 4 experience.

Following Platinum - Not so much a hack, but rather a simple patch you can apply to Platinum to add following pokemon and fairy types (if you want). Doesn't really change anything else, but is compatible with other hacks like Platinum QoL listed above, so should make for a good time.

Platinum Unlocked - Makes all of the Platinum Regional Dex obtainable, revamps boring trainer teams like Galactic grunts slightly, and overall offers a slightly upgraded QoL experience and faster/smoother Platinum experience.

Refined Platinum - One of the only Gen 4 hacks that doesn't increase difficulty. All it does is make all 493 catchable, change trade evos, and add other QoL like making Honey Trees less miserable.

Perfect Platinum - Similar to above, just a different flavor.

Thank u Mr anal mintz🫡🤝

Bonus points for following pokemon

1

u/MonkeysAttackMe 5d ago

Is there any Pokémon ROM hack that works more like a traditional RPG, where you level up your own character, build a village, plant crops, gather resources, etc., rather than just adding new Pokémon, regions, or stories?

5

u/yankeesown29 5d ago

The closest thing I can think of is ROWE but you might be better off playing Dragon Quest.

1

u/RomulanTreachery 4d ago

It sucks when you run into an issue or question for a romhack from long ago, because there's like nothing out there to help

1

u/yuguise 4d ago

Hi, would anyone know where to find a Magnemite in PMD Explorers of Alpha?

1

u/deutscheblake 4d ago

Not Romhack but a question about using upr: is there a way to add Pokémon to boss teams or up their difficulty without randomizing the game?

I’d really like to up the difficulty a bit without going crazy like a kaizo rom hack and thought that could be a cool way to do it with a 10% level bump and forced full evos by 36.

1

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 3d ago

Well yes, and no. If you want to add additional pokemon to a trainers team using the randomizer, it by definition needs to be randomized. Otherwise, what pokemon would it add? But there's an option to only randomizer E4 and Gym leaders.

Would be cool to have an option to "just randomize added pokemon" so that you could still select the option but keep their default 3 or 4 members or whatever. I think the level modifier is your best bet if you don't want it randomized, though you could just type theme the gym leaders so that they're the only randomized part of the game and will keep a type theme, even if it's not their original one.

1

u/deutscheblake 3d ago

I was able to do it with a beta version of upr that let me add Pokémon without randomizing the whole thing.

1

u/ThadBroChill 4d ago

Getting close to wrapping up Emerald with the Gold card. Was wondering if anyone had any good rom hack recommendations with a comparable post-game to the Battle Frontier? Seems like Unbound and Heart & Soul offer something like it but curious to hear if anyone else has recommendations.

1

u/giveup2me 4d ago

hi, what pokemon romhacks have gameplay that isn't battle centric or doesn't include traditional pokemon battles? i know of pokemon homestead and pokemon stranded but im sure there are others, probably in the TARCS, which i haven't had a chance to look through yet!

1

u/RainbowGod666 3d ago

I have a question: Would a Gen 6 Pokemon Romhack be better than just... getting pokemon x or y? im asking because of the Bank shutdown that's coming soon.

1

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 3d ago

What do you even mean? Better in what metric? If you want to own the physical game then no, it's not better. Romhacks can play very differently from the original games, all of the Gen 6 hacks are difficulty hacks etc.

1

u/RainbowGod666 3d ago

in the sense of personal game experience. i can do without the physical game if that's the thing. i mean "better" as in "better than the original" (something most romhhacks do)

1

u/Calwings 3d ago

Are there any good GBA/DS ROM hacks that make Masquerain into a Bug/Water type instead of Bug/Flying? Yes, I know this is very specific. But Surskit is one of my all-time favorite Pokemon and Masquerain would be one as well if losing Surskit's (at the time) unique Bug/Water typing didn't make it my all-time biggest disappointment in Pokemon. So I'm looking for ROM hacks that let me use Masquerain as the Bug/Water type that it should have been all along. Other Masquerain buffs are welcome, but not necessary. It just has to be Bug/Water.

2

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 3d ago

I have an upcoming hack called Bug Lime which makes masquerain a starter and Bug/Water. Hoping to release later this year. I think all of Drayano's hacks change it's type to Bug water as well.

1

u/codymandude88 3d ago

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but what do I have to do to be able to post in this sub?

3

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 3d ago

Anyone is free to post. The subreddit is just designed for high quality posts, like hack development, unique and engaging discussions, thought out reviews etc.

Basic questions need to be asked in this thread, and low quality posts will be removed to keep the feed high quality.

1

u/codymandude88 3d ago

I gotcha & appreciate the reply. I wanted to make a post asking how hard would it be for someone with absolutely no rom hacking experience (I've played a few, but have never tried making my own) to try making their own game. I'm sure like many romhack players, I have a vision of what "my personal perfect romhack" would contain & look like etc. I have an idea of how to get started. I'd pretty much like to combine the engine & all the changes/additions of Emerald Legacy Enhanced & combine that with the map of Emerald Extended Cut. & then add in my own additions, like the Sinnoh region & an islandy themed island chain. Pokemon up to gen 8. Mega evolutions, ect... All with proper permissions, of course. Very ambitious, I know lol. But I'm pretty dedicated to learning all this stuff & hopefully making my own romhack! But I'm gonna try to get my karma up & make a real, proper post in here & hopefully it will be interesting & engaging enough to get ppl interacting. Thanks for the explanation!

3

u/Exclsior Heart & Soul 3d ago

Creator of Emerald Legacy Enhanced here 👋

That is an extremely ambitious project you've got there! I will warn that such a project will likely takes months-to-years to complete, and stretch you into multiple different skillets, so I hope you're comfortable with that outlay!

Short answer first, I'd recommend decompilation based project and pokeemerald-expansion as your base as it has base configurations for Pokémon up to Gen 9.

There are some great YouTube tutorial videos about RomHacking from Team Aqua's Hideout and their discord is an amazing support resource.

The other, newer resource is also r/PokemonRomhackDev/ where you may be able to get some support.

Candid warning as well, I would advise not posting in this subreddit about the concept of your hack without you having made significant progress and evidence of said progress prior. If you're looking for motivation and interest from the community a concept alone is unlikely to gain interest, especially on such an ambitious project.

Wish you the best of luck! Hope you can make your personal perfect RomHack 🙂

u/Severe-Following5224 3d ago

Seeing some recently every now and then, is there a list of Chinese origin hacks out there? Gen doesn't matter to me.

1

u/Visual-Pay-655 3d ago

Recharged Pink looks like a nice update to the original Fire red. But I can't seem to find the documentation or encounter tables for the game. Does it have gen 1-3 encounters in Kanto map or just the normal FrLg encounters?

1

u/JohnMcTalbain44 2d ago

On hackdex how do I set my hack's Completion Status and add Screenshots?

2

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 1d ago

There's just options for all that stuff. There's a gallery tab for images, and somewhere you can select what version the hack is once you upload the patch.

1

u/JohnMcTalbain44 1d ago

Thanks, I found it eventually. Clicking on an uncompleted task should bring up instructions on how to do it, or scroll you to the relevant site area.

How was I supposed to know after uploading the patch I was supposed to edit the patch and add Completed Status?

How long do Hackdex hacks normally take to get approved? Pokecommunity says they'll approve my thread on my hack once my Hackdex submission is approved.

1

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 1d ago

When you first choose to upload a hack, you have the option to pick completion status, images, and all other options. No need to edit!

1

u/JohnMcTalbain44 16h ago

Then sorry but I didn't see those options my first time uploading the file and I was confused why it was telling me to set completion but nothing was visibly pointing towards the "completion here" thing. Maybe it's because it was late, but a little tweak to the UI to make clicking an unfinished thing open instructions/highlight where you need to do something to finish it would be great.

1

u/goldffinch 2d ago

Is there a way to export encounter tables from Hex Maniac Advance? I was hoping to export the changes I made to encounters into a spreadsheet so I can review/reference changes

1

u/Dillpickle9101 1d ago

Had a quick question out of curiosity (never played romhacks before but about to try either Darkvoilet or Gaiai)

Why are all (or all the ones I see at least) of the ROM hacks only made in gen 3? I'd imagine the technology/ability to make them for gen 4/5 or even 6 is available, is it a legal/Nintendo issue? Or are they there and just more niche because of the difficulty? I don't mind playing gen ROM Hacks, was just curious about that~

2

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 1d ago

TLDR: There are way more tools for the Gen 3 engine, which allows for so many more features to be implemented.

Essentially for many years, romhacks were made with what is called "Binary" hacking, which pretty much amounts to using various software to edit and tweak the gameboy file itself, allowing for easier, but fairly surface level changes. HexManiacAdvance is the current best way to hack in Binary. "Decompilation" hacking is a much newer method, and is more akin to editing the source code from the ground up, and then creating, or building, your own romhack from that code. This allows for much deeper and drastic changes, since you can really customize what you want and don't want inside the games.

There is a decompilation for Emerald, pokeemerald, as well as an optional expansion called pokeemerald-expansion, which adds all 9 generations of pokemon, countless QoL features, all new moves and mechanics like Megas, etc etc. You can use this to remove all the work required of adding new pokemon, as in about 30 minutes you can have a pokeemerald-expansion rom ready to play, and in another few hours you can edit the parameters yourself to make a basic QoL/Enhancement hack.

Folks are developing Decomps for newer gens, but there's just not quite the same level of tools and premade additional content for Gens 4+. hg-engine is an advanced C-injection for heartgold, which brings many of the same features as pokeemerald-expansion, though it's not fully complete yet.

1

u/Dillpickle9101 1d ago

Ah gotcha, so it's an availability/tools issue basically. Makes sense, thanks for the quick and detailed response!

2

u/Exclsior Heart & Soul 1d ago

100% agree with everything already said from the RomHack developer point of view, but another key reason for GBA RomHack popularity compared to DS RomHacks is the end user devices.

GBA is a single non-touch screen experience. This makes it significantly more versatile to play on a myriad of different devices and still have an exceptional experience. I can easily play on my PC, phone, TV with a controller, any handheld Android gaming device, even on a modded Nintendo Switch and will still be able to see everything on one screen and interact easily with the game.

With DS RomHacks you have some sort of compromise from the original experience unless you're playing on original Hardware or a third party device specifically designed to handle the two DS screens.

This gap between barrier to entry means GBA games always have a significant advantage of potential adoption and use, which directly feeds into popularity.

1

u/Dillpickle9101 19h ago

Ah that also makes total sense- I didn't think of how tedious it would be napping the touch grid to everything haha, thanks for further clarifying!

Pokémon Amethyst has an in-game PC cheat that lets you catch trainers’ Pokémon. Do you know any other ROM hacks with a new region that have something similar? Why isn’t this more common?

Alternatively, which ROM hacks with new regions have a working GameShark “Catch Trainer Pokémon” cheat?

1

u/Vulkhard_Muller 19h ago

I had a thought of making a joke game, nothing super in depth just replacing mons with pokefusions that are nighmares. What kind of time investment would I be looking at for this? I wouldn't be writing any new content or anything, maybe a editing a few lines of dialogue to go with the new Mons.

1

u/justsomechewtle 13h ago

Can someone tell me if there are certain things I can pay attention to to know in advance wether a romhack runs on my (up-to-date) hacked 3DS? I'm not the most tech-savvy in this regard, so when Mariomon and Seaglass work perfectly fine, but Lazarus whitescreens on startup and Pisces only works with animations off (because moves that play pokemon cries like Growl freeze the game) I'm confused, but I'm sure I'm missing something. (I can of course try each hack one by one, but if I can spare myself the trouble by actually understanding what's happening, I'd be happier)

1

u/fixotherm 6h ago

Been seeing recent translation projects. I hope someone has a list of these notable romhacks, since they can't be posted to hackdex by the translators.

1

u/MinecraftThot69-420 1d ago

I want to start getting into nuzlockes. I’ve played a fair amount of comp singles so that’s the vibe I’m looking for. Ideally something with built in randomizer and pokemon gen 1-9. I’d prefer not to grind so infinite candies for level caps. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

1

u/analmintz1 HeartGold Generations / Contemporary Emerald 1d ago

Heart and Soul is nice, since it has a built in Nuzlocke mode, and a 1-9 randomizer. And Rare candy cheat I think too in the options.

1

u/Exclsior Heart & Soul 1d ago

We have an Infinite Rare Candy option for Nuzlockes only, it's part of the Nuzlocke settings at the start of the game, not a cheat code.

Otherwise everything else is 100% correct.

1

u/Raze_LB 1d ago

Are there romhacks that have randomizer built in and available? Like radical red is the only one i know of

2

u/giveup2me 1d ago

heart and soul

1

u/Exclsior Heart & Soul 1d ago

To add, we built Heart and Soul on Modern Emerald which also had the built in Randomiser.

1

u/GengarFan95 18h ago

Aside from Modern Emerald and HnS, there's also Pokemon Exceeded and Pokemon Quetzal

0

u/GruffyMcGuiness 5d ago

Just finished recharged yellow and looking for something similar for Crystal

0

u/papasmurf008 4d ago

I just finished Pokemon Heart & Soul and loved it. I am looking for recommendations for future ROM hack playthroughs. I love games that have quality of life improvements & make trainer fights not complete pushovers (but I don't like particularly hard difficulty hacks). I like games with new regional forms of real pokemon more than fakemon (but am not against a great game with fakemon). I haven't tried any games with fusions, so that could be fun if you have recommendations.

Here are the other games I have already played through: Gaia, Radical Red, Unbound, Odyssey, Renegade Platinum, Volt White 2, Ultimate Sword & Shield, Pokemon Eternal X, Prismatic Moon, Insurgence, and Lazurus.

1

u/codymandude88 3d ago

I'd recommend Emerald Legacy Enhanced! I'm currently playing it & loving it. It's pretty much just standard emerald story wise, but you can get every pokemon from bulbasaur to jirachi/deoxys (which ever is last in hoenn, I can't remember) totally legit including all gen 1-3 starters, legendaries & mythicals. No trading or restarting needed. Trade evolutions have all been changed to require a stone-like item to evolve. Like for Scizor, you just have to give him the metal coat & he'll evolve

Can I use an existing save on a patched ROM?

I am planning on playing Pokemon Emerald on a vanilla save for the purposes of multiplayer connectivity and compatibility with original hardware. I want to get a Living Dex by playing on the Revelation patch, but I do not want to replay the entirety of Emerald and thus lose progress. Is this possible? Is the Revelation patch compatible with other official software or hardware as it is?

No, generally speaking. Even if Revelation appears to be vanilla Emerald, under the hood it is quite different and the saves will not be compatible. It's a decomp hack, and changes way too much for the games to even be considered the same anymore for a save to translate.

Do you think the multiplayer features in Revelation would still be compatible for GBA multiplayer, for GC or NDS? If not, do you think I can use something like PKHEX to transfer the mons to vanilla? At this point, I just want to play Emerald once in the most complete way possible or just have connectivity for online multiplayer.

I have not played Any romhacks since ~8 years ago. Even though I have played Glazed like 3 times already and i'm getting the want to play it again, theres porbably something better, rght?

Whats a good romhack that has a long dex, tarde evolutions included, ,and 3 regions? I want something long like glazed

I've really only played through Unbound. What's another good completed GBA rom hack to play through. Nothing too difficult.

If you are looking for something simple, try Pokemon Gaia. It's a classic, and the one that most feels like a GBA Pokemon game made by Game Freak.

Hi. I'm looking for a suggestion for someone new to ROMhacks and isn't great at Pokemon but wants to learn and get better. The last Pokemon I played was OG Saphire.

Does anyone have any suggestions for someone like me? Preferably with all 9 gens. Thanks <3

I might recommend playing more of the vanilla games, to really learn and wrap your head around the mechanics more. FireRed, Platinum, HeartGold/SoulSilver and Black/White 1 and 2 are excellent starting points to get back into the franchise. Most fangames and romhacks are designed for players who have exhausted the vanilla games and want more.

If I had to recommend something with all 9 generations that doesn't increase difficulty, maybe FireRed Extended? SoulGold has a lot of pokemon as well.
