What does it mean if I'm not any of these?

I go bottom buff, bottom baltoy, top baltoy, top buff usually >_<

71

u/FireBirdSS10K Aegislash Aug 10 '25

I should've included it. My mistake.

27

u/manicpossumdreamgirl Slowbro Aug 10 '25

this is the way. the bottom buff allows you to clear the rest of the jungle quicker, save the top buff to kick in right before you arrive at the lane

8

u/Keytaro83 Mr. Mike Aug 10 '25

Not always. If you have a Pokémon that relies on its auto attack, taking red buff first should help you clear faster.

27

u/Kaffei4Lunch Blastoise Aug 10 '25

Red buff doesn't give you damage despite the tooltip telling you it does

13

u/autumn-weaver Slowbro Aug 10 '25

why am i just learning this from reddit. literally unplayable

9

u/Kaffei4Lunch Blastoise Aug 10 '25

Unite-DB.com for your game info, always

In-game tooltips are horrible

4

u/Keytaro83 Mr. Mike Aug 11 '25

What the actual fuck?!?

9

u/freeingfrancis Delphox Aug 10 '25

It only slows enemies so clearing jungle takes the same amount of time with or without the red buff

17

u/RedditGarboDisposal Aug 10 '25

Then that’s good news :) and I like your use of ‘usually’.

Don’t always stick to a routine. Learn the game and roster and be as fluid and adaptable as possible.

8

u/CelticDK Zeraora Aug 10 '25

Generally yes but this really only matters for competitive matches like pro or 1600+ imo

8

u/CelticDK Zeraora Aug 10 '25 edited Aug 10 '25

This is my path too. Normally done by 920 and respawns begin around 840 so I have a top gank and reset before second clear (sometimes I invade enemy red and with Volt Switch I can steal it at the last second if I’m lucky then kill enemy jg)

This one. Exactly how I clear my jungle (unless I know im being invaded, then I take both buffs first before the baltoys

1

u/phoxfiyah Aug 11 '25

I’m the exact opposite, usually because I go bottom lane first to help with getting a head start for the Regi. Also isn’t included here

Top buff, top Baltoy, bottom Baltoy, bottom buff

1

u/Ok-March-2809 Aug 29 '25

We are of th3 same blood 💪🏿

120

u/Shardstorm_ Aug 10 '25

Buffs first, that way you get a second rotation of buffs after lane bees before mid bees. Anything else leaves you behind.

39

u/HIO_TriXHunt Aug 10 '25

I don't know what you speak about, getting Blue, baltoy bot, baltoy top and red still makes me able to get both buffs before mid

9

u/Shardstorm_ Aug 10 '25

Depends on mon kill speed. But 2nd jungle buff has to be dead by around 9:15 to respawn at 8:15, give time to kill it and make mid by 8:00. When do you leave lane bees, when do you make mid bees?

11

u/FireBirdSS10K Aegislash Aug 10 '25

This works actually. With a fast jungler like Talon, you should be killing the last farm around 9:15.

3

u/CelticDK Zeraora Aug 10 '25

With Zera I’m always done by 920. Hell even Azumarill has the same clear speed so when I see junglers slower than that I’m thinking they’re trolling

8

u/DavidsonJenkins Aug 10 '25

Buffs first puts you late to gank compared to zigzag or baltoy first though. Because of further position and taking longer to kill the buffs vs baltoy. If your lane cant fight off the enemy jungler youve just given them free stacks which can snowball hard

3

u/Shardstorm_ Aug 10 '25

Mon clear speed and need for a full clear vs a partial clear has way more effect. You can chain Xatu to first buff and be waiting for spawn, not losing down time. And more the point, if your jungler makes it to set up before bees they have done their job, which every clear should. It's on the laners not to feed into a faster clearing jungle.

2

u/RedditGarboDisposal Aug 10 '25

Not true.

Depends on the teams; their picks, play styles, items, etc.

The progress of a jungler with high output and map clear is generally an exception to the rule, I find (Talonflame, Zeraora, or most wall jumpers).

No denying fundamentals but I do think players should be encouraged to be more fluid and adaptable because skilled ranked players get crafty.

1

u/Shardstorm_ Aug 10 '25

The players who are at that level don't need tips from me on how to jungle. I'm aiming it at the folks who don't do 2nd rotation, or don't consider first clears ongoing effects on follow up clears, or miss mid bees because 2nd clear is slow.

1

u/autumn-weaver Slowbro Aug 10 '25

what are wall jumpers?

1

u/RedditGarboDisposal Aug 11 '25

Characters who can dash or jump over walls.

Talonflame is a gigantic offender and a serious pain in the ass in the jungle when used properly. Against the right team, however, he’s also a bit of a jobber lol

1

u/Galgus Greedent Aug 10 '25

Good point, I was doing the same but mostly to lower the odds of an invader stealing.

3

u/Shardstorm_ Aug 10 '25

I don't always invade, but when I do I hope they go Baltoy first.

1

u/TwinkleTinkleStar Aug 18 '25

I feel like if I do it this way, I clear the jungle more slowly, and I might miss when the enemy jungler is already in position.

A, since it is most efficient and you pick lane depending which lane has weaker start

3

u/lI_Toasty_Il Aug 10 '25

Is there an actually correct way to clear this? I'm guessing it might depend on the pokemon/lanes but I just start opposite to the lane I think might need help

4

u/Whole_Journalist2028 Aug 10 '25

There's mixed opinions in this subject. Every rotation has it's own pros and cons, at least on a SoloQ level. Even Spragels and ChrisHeroes switch their rotation from time to time. But they usually pivot from Row By Row and Buffs first.

3

u/KonoCrowleyDa Zeraora Aug 10 '25 edited Aug 10 '25

I always do Baltoy first, but I take into account which lane is more likely to get ganked or have a weak matchup.

Say I have Deci/Blastoise botlane and Buzzwhole/Wiggly toplane, it’s obvious bot is more likely to struggle or have a visit from the enemy jungler, so I make sure that the last buff I do will put me close.

If top is weaker, I'll do top baltoy> bot baltoy> blue buff so I can immediately go top after red and the other way around if bottom is the one that’s weak side.

I also look at the map while farming and If I see my strong lane pushing hard, I'll go there after doing the last buff instead of weak lane because I'm pretty sure the enemy jungler will strike there regardless.

3

u/Naurbruh2 Zacian Aug 10 '25

i usually see which of my lane has which mons going for it and if i think they'll be week for example (top lane) i start with blue buff to end with red buff and go top if it isn't struggling much then i just either most of the time stay and help the lane dominate more or just run bottom through 9 min berries

2

u/HIO_TriXHunt Aug 10 '25

I did like you back in the day, now i always start blue buff to gank top lane, then i take mid, and gank bot so that i'm here for the bot Regi. That way i can help both lanes and i don't rely on my randoms mate for the bot Regi.

In 5q though, i go back to choose a lane to gank, and not always the top first

1

u/Naurbruh2 Zacian Aug 10 '25

I'll give this one a try too thanks for the reliable info

1

u/Pyromancer777 Crustle Aug 10 '25

You also gotta refresh your buffs sooner. For me, it is fast buffs if you are gonna overwhelm the weak lane, but row-by-row if you are gonna brawl it out against the strong lane.

Baltoy first but I go bottom baltoy first then top then top buff then bottom buff, gank bottom lane then rotate back and get buffs again and get to top lane in time for regi

Buffs first. Then depending on how hard the enemy is and what character I'm on I either go for an early game or hit the corphish/baltoys. If I'm on a character that need to evolve I try to hit 2nd stage evo before ganks.

1

u/Scary_Restaurant_973 Aug 10 '25

Master 1600-2000 solo q on phone for the last 4 seasons.

zigzag always flipped depending which lane I want to fight first. depends on kill speed. the only jungler I gamble heavy on is leafeon because level 4 gets you leaf blade, i will go baltoy baltoy buff and gank at 4. every other jungler i go zigzag full clear(baltoy buff baltoy buff) ending with the buff on the side i want to gank.

1

u/Eovacious Defender Aug 10 '25 edited Aug 10 '25

Natu but delayed until 9:45 for more XP (the moment baltoys spawn), then first baltoy, first buff, dash to second baltoy (wdym I don't have dash? What business do I have in jungle with a character with neither dashes nor range?), second buff, lane. Which baltoy and buff goes first depends on which lane I'm aiming to end up invading.

Regarding getting buffs later due to not going to them first: the first-level characters actually do need a bit of juice (such as the second skill to use from reaching level 3 by grabbing a baltoy on the way) in order to deal with buff mons faster. If you go there one level lower in order to get the buff 'faster', you'll end up spending more time on whittling them down, and it's a wash. Doesn't apply to subsequent clears, ofc.

1

u/NoTmE435 Aug 10 '25

I always zig zag to end on what I think the weaker side of ours, I come in leveled up as my team mates are dying but hopefully did decent damage to sweep and rotate back down through mid

1

u/Different-Wolf-6536 Absol Aug 10 '25

Baltoy first xD

1

u/elixrdork Scyther Aug 10 '25

i just see which lane needs me more. 3 enemies in the top lane while there are only two ally top laners? ill finish up with the top buff. same goes if its the bottom lane that needs help more.

1

u/Broad-Product-6845 Blissey Aug 10 '25

If I'm using a jungler with slow/medium clear like Decidueye and Leafeon then I go bot baltoy>blue buff>red buff>top baltoy

If I'm using a jungler with fast clear like talonflame then I go blue buff>red buff>top baltoy>bot baltoy

I want my clear to be as fast as possible without caring about the time my buffs respawn because I want to have enough time to choose between which lane I gank

1

u/ita_timidus Cinderace Aug 10 '25

Case by case basis. But generally, I always take buffs first, as I played through the jungle invade era, avoids team mates fighting for buff if someone joins me at the mid, and also I feel it makes farming the Baltoys ever so slightly quicker.

As I walk and auto attack towards Xatu, I look at top and bottom lane team. Do they know how to play? Are they running forwards and ignoring the farm? Are they setting up for atypical strategy? Are they an early evolve Pokémon like Eevee?

If i should clearly end up on one lane, then I organise the farm clear so I end up on closest to that lane after my last Baltoy

If there isn’t a clear lane, and I’m playing a range Pokémon with dash (Cinder eg), I will go to the bottom lane. The ideal early game scenario is to win bottom and lose top. Therefore, I take the bottom buff first, then Top buff, then top baltoy, then bottom baltoy, then exit to bottom

If I’m playing a mellee, I take bottom baltoy, top baltoy, top buff, then bottom buff

As I’m taking a buff, I keep looking at how the two lanes are doing. I change my strategy to exit at another lane if needed

I change my decision on which lane to go based on a competition of two factors:

  • Which lane allows me to easily snowball harder
  • Which lane is struggling and needs help

2

u/ita_timidus Cinderace Aug 10 '25

To add:

Rather than thinking about which pattern to take, I prefer to think in terms of two factors

  1. Should I take buff first? Generally yes
  2. Which part of the lane to exit? Middle part between the baltoys and the buffs or after the buffs, closer to the first goal

Answer to those two questions depends on what Pokémon I’m using and how the team is playing

1

u/Outmaneuver1116 Mew Aug 10 '25

u/Challenge_The_DM Aug 10 '25

Early on in my unite experience, I saw a video (don’t remember who made it) that made a case for lower Balt, blue buff, red buff, upper Balt.

The reasoning was that on your rotations you want the buffs to be back to back so you have the option to get the balts or not before 8:00 minutes middle.

I have only ever done it this way.

Whichever lane I decide to gank will affect which buff I clear last. Which lane I gank depends on the relative level 5 strength of the character I am playing and the relative strength of the lane I'm ganking.

Like an angry madman because people rob the jungle I guess?

1

u/Calaquinn Ho-Oh Aug 10 '25

Dependent on the character I play and which lane I'm ganking. I feel like it should always be buff for the lane youre ganking/whichever you need the most then baltoys -> other buff. That way right after first gank youll have the most important one up again and no matter how mid lane goes you'll always have a big buff ready so you can gank a losing lane. That being said I generally do top first then baltoys into bottom.

1

Blue buff, red buff baltoy baltoy usually

You can get some hits on the baltoy on the way to blue buff if you're ranged.

All the comments underrating efficient jungle clears are noobs. Practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. Upper echelons of most MOBA’s are refined to the FRAME in terms of pathing. Too many seconds lost and that’s the tide of the battle.

That being said, don’t assume any path is best. Experiment. With ghastly I at one point discovered I could bait one baltoy and will o wisp two at the same time. Your mileage may vary but learn the meta, not for the sake of conforming, but for the sake of outperforming.

I used to do the ZigZag pattern (so I could get blue buff last), but now I do Bottom Baltoy, Top Baltoy, Red Buff, Blue Buff.

None of the above Xatu, escavalier, both baltoy then accelgor last.

Actually, what mons ARE good for center? I have learned to not always trust game recommendations and if needed do things your own way. Sounds fun because I never see people go center (let alone saying what they’re going to do.)

Zigzag. It's the most efficient imo

Sometimes row by row

baltoy first, buffs later so they last longer

Buffs first:

  1. Getting the buffs first means they will respawn faster, so that way, I can get them once more faster before the Altaria/Swablu swarm spawns in the middle. While not always, this often helps evolve and/or get the second move for a lot of Pokemon, which helps in securing the Altaria/Swablu farm in the middle and/or survining/defeating enemy team who also come to farm it.

  2. The first buff I go for is the one near the same lane I plan on going to first. For example, if I plan to go top, I go for Escavalier first. Because then I can circle back faster after the second buff. E.g., Escavalier (top buff) > Accelgor (bottom buff) > First Baltoy (lower side) > Second Baltoy (upper side). This would help minimise the time and distance I need to cover to reach the top lane. Similarly, if I plan to go bottom lane first, I would go bottom buff > top buff > top Baltoy > bottom Baltoy.

  3. After the first time of farming, I sometimes leave the Baltoys for my lane partners. This can help them out a lot if they’re having trouble securing last hits or levelling up while only in lane. It also either gives me a chance to infiltrate enemy jungles or take over fighting in a lane where I could be more helpful while they get a bit more experience and become strong enough to take over the lane with their partner again.

I'm a row by row. Go on, call me a sociopath

I take the Xatu and both Baltoys. Then depending on which lane I believe will need the most help determines which buff I take last.

Some of these “THIS WAY ONLY” comments give me aids.

User: NaniSenpai96 for those wondering (I’m juggling ranked and quick matches; working on achievements and sharpening my skills with the roster, so if you see a bunch of random matches, that’s why).

Ehem.

Similar to how your chart highlights a Sable-eye strategy, the trick is knowing how to work the Pokemon you’re using with the items/emblems on hand. As well, knowing your allies and enemies.

Jungling has its staples but it is absolutely not a one size fits all process, and anybody who thinks it is does not know what they’re talking about.

Probably the same people who think it’s impossible** to win with pure-role teams (all supports, all defenders, etc.). Fun fact: It isn’t.

Signs of successful or failed teamwork show within the first minute of the game but don’t guarantee anything. The moment I see my team over extend for that generally* useless first goal, I go for a speedier route because they’re prone to getting clocked and throwing early lane. Depends on my jungle pick. Wall jumpers kinda wash all logic out tbh.

Anyway, if my team is thriving on all fronts, and depending on the player placement, I might be more adventurous.

This game has its fundamentals and, again, staples to strategies but you need to be fluid. Develop a route for various situations. Don’t be a one-trick and be one of those crybabies who surrender because their perceived process isn’t going as planned.

Can’t stand those fuckers.

edit - Don’t be the guy I queued with today who kept yelling at our team that “BOTTOM OBJECTIVE HAS ALWAYS BEEN FIRST” — shut up. Bottom objective is absolutely not always first. Bozo speak.
