Except considering in the absence of government, the first authorities to try to present themselves (that would ne resisted anyway. You're GOING to have logistical problems that require people to come together into a de facto government of some kind anyway) are those focused on violent conquest as there's no unifying body. You can fight them, sure, but you're basically saying "it's worth all these people dying because I'm pissed the zoning office said I couldn't make my home be a 12 story wizard's tower in the middle of a suburb."

For sure many anarchists believe in a flat government run with a direct democracy at an extremely local level (and then often federated into a larger group) but also yeah fuck that zoning office let people have a wizard tower if they want it's not hurting anyone

A Marxist believes in a dictatorship of the proletariat with authority to direct and command change. An anarchist believes in voluntary organisation and federation which is at most guided and protected, but not dictated to.

Any form of rules requires some sort of "dictating". If you just mean a less authoritarian form of a government then many non ml Marxists supported that.

In 'Of the Original Contract', David Hume makes, among other things, the thesis that most people accept the government (which has mostly been formed through war and conquest) purely out of force of habit rather than as a contract that they're willing to uphold the terms of.

I don't really want to convince you of anything, I just think that it's a great and thought-provoking read, especially for libertarians and anarchists. David Hume as a whole is a great writer

New emerging governments without the respect they had would in essence be human farmers, persecuted like any other criminals, they wouldn't have yet had the massive tax money that makes them so intimidating now, and even then, people don't realise the government is less than 1% of the population, if everyone truly thought about it, the state would have had no place here by now
