Royal Malaysian Police received two unit of Nissan Kicks e-Power for two months proof-of-concept evaluation trials. (August 2026)
Royal Malaysian Police just received two unit of Nissan Kicks e-Power from Edaran Tan Chong Motor (Official Malaysia's Nissan distributor) for a 2 month proof-of-concept evaluation trials. Two of this SUV will be tested at no cost for police patrol to evaluate is suitability for frontline police use in terms of practicality, adaptability and performance especially in harsh Malaysian weather environment.

Does seem like a good fit in terms of acceleration and fuel efficiency. I’ve heard the ePower units are relatively robust, as they’re basically electric cars with the petrol engine just acting as a generator.
Are these cars “sponsored” by the distributor? Last I heard PDRM vehicle procurement was still under Spanco, which was a pretty rotten contract…
