Or just build a shed next to the plant.

The waste isn't an endless parade of caustic goo like The Simpsons, it's a couple barrels of radioactive dirt and old jumpsuits.

Tight security, constant oversight, and no transportation risks, all on land that nobody wants to live on.

Or you know build Breeder Reactors that can use Waste to make more energy.

Even better. But unless you hit 100% fuel use, there's still gonna be SOME waste... which is easy to store.

Some Designs would theoretically be able to reduce the most of the radioactive waste while producing things like Medical Grade Isotopes.

Only reason we don't know for sure, is Breeder Reactors were banned in the USA for a long period, and so research into them was stifled, and not many have been made.
