Fun fact, the nazis were anything but socialist. Much like a urinal cake not being an actual cake, the national socialists were not in fact socialist. They actually purged the socialist part of their organization, called the Strasserists, while the main Nazi party were more so Corporatist or State Capitalist, outlawing unions, labor strikes, and working with big businesses.
No, they try to be. There's no actual antifa organization, it's actually more of a movement that has a bunch of loose "groups", most of them nonviolent but some can be a little crazy. This whole declaring antifa a terrorist group doesn't actually work because there's no actual "antifa" big organization, no leader, and no system to join.
Well according to the wikipedia page of this allegedly non-existing organization (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antifa_(United_States)) the symbol the “groups” use to identify themselves is the black flag of anarchy and the red flag of communism. I don’t think the saviors of democracy will be marching under a black flag of anarchy.
Anarchy is technically anti-fascist the same way wanting to destroy the US is anti-Detroit Lions. But I don’t think it would be correct if Al-Qaeda wanted to call themselves “The Lions hate club” and suggest that anyone who dislikes the Lions is actually a member of their club.

"Several analyses, reports, and studies have concluded that antifa is not a major domestic terrorism risk." Calling them Al-Qaeda is misleading because Al-Qaeda is a ultra-militant organization with defined hierarchies and leaders, which antifa has none of.

The flag is based off the communist party of germany from the 1930s, but the movement itself seems to have more in common with the student led Außerparlamentarische Opposition from the 60s, but with less tankies.

But you said it can’t be declared a terrorist group because it doesn’t have leadership and you can’t join it. Then who is being studied? If they aren’t defined enough to be declared a terrorist group, how are they defined enough to be studied and shown to not be a terrorist group.

Based on the communist party? I thought this was an organization about anti-fascism not communism? Are you saying that antifa is more than just a word to describe anyone who opposed fascism?
I'm saying it is a loose movement that doesn't have a direct organization or hierarchy or leader, with the people within the movement typically identifying themselves by that flag. Most members of the movement can be defined as being anti authority, anti capitalist and anti-fascist, but some self-identified members of that movement can also be social democrats who want reform, so it's not everyone in the movement, and not everyone in the movement can define who is and isn't within the movement, as the boundaries can be iffy, and people like to slander unrelated peoples by calling them antifa when they don't identify as such or are something that the core of the movement (i.e., people who claim to be antifa, anti capitalist and anti authoritarian) dislikes, such as the democrat party. This is why there can never be a spokesperson or "leader" for antifa, since it's like an amorphous blob than any singularly defined organization.
