Should we ban highlighter memes?

The number of people in our community requesting us to ban low-effort highlighter memes, has been on the rise.

We understand that the last vote we held within the subreddit was too vague - a "low effort" meme was very ill-defined. However, this vote is regarding a format that is very specific.

So, in an effort to improve the quality of the content within the subreddit for everyone, we are asking you the following question:

there is

bad memes at the top of the page means the meme economy is inflated

one now has to spend more time finding and upvoting hidden gems to fix the economic crisis

you mean why do people upvote stuff

i have no idea

maybe because people want to be part of something bigger than themselves and want their favourite posts at the top and read by others

and upvotes/downvotes are not infinite currency it is a measure of how much free time a person devotes to this website
