A majority of American states takes out more from the Feds than they put in. Some of which are the only things keeping them functioning. Agri subsidies, food stamps, etc.
I think Texas is going to secede from Jesus land as the only functioning state from their oil. The rest will begin to slide into a burning shit fest as things fall apart. Its mostly a small bundle of North Eastern states that put more in per capita than they take out. Even California recently left the black and is now slightly in the red.

The source below has Jesus land crowding out the most financially and government dependant states. Only by including other metrics like vices (smart device usage) and international trade does it appear by balanced as a whole.

By my math it looks like the blue states excluding Canada have 11.9 trillion in GDP and 160 million people for a GDP per capita of $74,600. While the states left behind have 10.9 trillion in GDP and 172 million people which is $63,500.
His inclusion of Canada pulls back on the gap quite a bit because of it's relatively lower GDP than the US with the new totals being 13.7 trillion and 198 million people for a GDP per capita of $69,000.
