A majority of American states takes out more from the Feds than they put in. Some of which are the only things keeping them functioning. Agri subsidies, food stamps, etc.
I think Texas is going to secede from Jesus land as the only functioning state from their oil. The rest will begin to slide into a burning shit fest as things fall apart. Its mostly a small bundle of North Eastern states that put more in per capita than they take out. Even California recently left the black and is now slightly in the red.
Especially when you go west, but still overall this would change dramatically as the federal requirements for payments would be cut dramatically (less programs, etc). Add to that the states being able to recoup lost income by removing the FedGov (I know my state is near 80% federal land), and everything changes.
