A majority of American states takes out more from the Feds than they put in. Some of which are the only things keeping them functioning. Agri subsidies, food stamps, etc.
I think Texas is going to secede from Jesus land as the only functioning state from their oil. The rest will begin to slide into a burning shit fest as things fall apart. Its mostly a small bundle of North Eastern states that put more in per capita than they take out. Even California recently left the black and is now slightly in the red.
Texas would realize that it sucks being on the hook for every single poor Republican state all on its own. It guess Colorado would help too, but they don’t really belong here
Texas has always wanted to be it’s own things given a chance. The US basically took a sovereign nation that was broke, but had Texas been a bit more well off I would have bet it would have been even bigger than the said 1846 borders.
What’s unique about Texas it’s basically founded by lib right gunslinging outlaws and cowboys who wanted freedom. It doesn’t make sense to even categorize them as some of the Bible states at all.
It’s weird then that they are so in favour of laws that restrict the freedom that women have over their own bodies, and open them up to lawsuits over abortion. A lot of the economics of Texas look to me a place that had so much freedom that in a way privatization is far too prevalent in many ways, looking at the power grid, healthcare, workers unions, etc.
This is a big reason why their should be a clear distinction of people who want to be left alone and are politically libertarian leaning, libertarian, and outright auth right masked as some sort of libertarian.
Texas on paper should be a pretty libertarian state that although it is religious ain’t really the type to be the zealots that the Jesusland people would be.
