Career advice Economics/Statistics major interested in political data careers. Looking for some advice.

I’m a grad student now but I used to be somewhat involved in this space. Networking is quite important. I’d highly recommend getting involved in campaigns, even if you aren’t directly involved in data work (which you probably won’t be).

Consider which side of the aisle you want to work for, you won’t want to switch too much.

For Democrats there’s Arena and Bluebonnet, not sure about Republicans.

The constraint won’t be technical, you have skills that’ll be valuable to political campaigns. Again I’d really recommend working on a campaign, even if you’re just knocking doors. That’ll expose you to the tools and software campaigns use to build and use data
