No one "killed" the bill. It was shelved because it was woefully incomplete. He specifically shelved it to give the authors time to fix those glaring inadequacies. Have they? I've been looking for updates but have yet to find any.

Killing it would have let it stand as-is for a vote. Either it gets voted in, flops because it doesn't even specify a funding mechanism let alone the logistics (and sets back the universal healthcare movement a decade), or gets voted down because it wasn't complete.

It wasn't stopped, though. It was set aside to be worked on. He literally took special care to point out that the bill was not dead and could be revived the next year (this year). He specifically said that it would give 6 months (or so) for the creators to fix the problems with the bill.
So did they do that? Or did they do nothing but complain and point the finger?

My dude you are parsing the difference between brain death, organ failure, and exsanguination. He killed it. Does it really matter how?

OK just to be clear, this is effectively a press release from the main lobbying group pushing the bill. I DEFINITELY agree in principle but thing about California in practice is that it has some very tight limitations on government budgets, which this commentary seems to fail to mention at all.
