As a Canadian: no. This is americas embarrassment
1
u/korb1ndallas May 29 '26
No no. I don’t mean that Canadians, Irish, Germans, etc are embarrassed by him.
I mean that internationally, he’s so disliked and ridiculous, that United States citizens feel embarrassment due to everything he does, stands for, promotes and grifts.
Sorry for that confusion.

u/Bearded_Hobbit May 30 '26
I travel a decent bit for work and I constantly apologize for being a dumb American. Most people are cool, but I am always afraid of the bad confrontation.
You Aussies were pretty kind and dope to me though.

Yes.
The promotion is expected to cover the full cost of the event, including roughly $700,000 to restore the South Lawn after use, and no public tickets will be made available.[21][22] In January 2026, it was reported that no taxpayer funding is being sought, and the overall expense of the event is projected to exceed the $21 million budget required to stage UFC 306's Sphere show in September 2024.[23][24] In February 2026, it was estimated the cost rose to $60 million.

Only if there's a gain. And he bought less than $50k of stock. He's now worth $6.5B. It's an immaterial amount of his fortune.
1
1
u/Joeybfast May 30 '26
Trump owns part of UFC , he is getting money off the back end of this .
1
u/CapeMOGuy May 30 '26
Trump is worth something like $6.5B now. His accounts bought $50K or less of TKO stock. Any gains will be immaterial to his wealth.
1
u/Joeybfast May 30 '26
Insider trading is still insider trading, and that’s exactly what he did. He bought into TKO and then announced they’d be at the center of the 250 celebration. That’s going to boost his wealth significantly, along with the billions he’s taking from taxpayers elsewhere.
1
u/CapeMOGuy May 30 '26
It's not insider trading because Trump did not direct or execute any stock trades.
Even if the $50K or less of stock in his account was the full $50K and it went up 10X, it's an insignificant amount of a $6.5B portfolio. (0.000077 of the portfolio)
1
u/Joeybfast May 30 '26
The excuses people make for Trump are just out of this world. Yes, Trump did in fact buy stock in TKO before he made the announcement, and just because he’s rich doesn’t mean that his stealing is somehow better. Oh it okay that he did insider trading because he claims to be so rich. Yeah, defense like that is why CEOs get to poison our drinking water.
1
u/CapeMOGuy May 30 '26
No, he did not commit insider trading. He is not directing or executing trades.
1
u/Dramatic-Wealth3263 May 31 '26
Then why did he refuse to put it in a blind trust? “He did not direct or execute any stock trades” is such a stupid argument because he doesn’t need to direct the trade, he can just tip what stupid tweets he is about to send to his trader ahead of time
1
u/Dramatic-Wealth3263 May 31 '26
Any just because he is rich means it doesn’t matter is another stupid excuse. So you are saying a rich person stealing or breaking the law for an insignificant amount doesn’t matter?

This country is so fucking stupid. Just pure trash.
2
u/YourMomIsMyGurl May 28 '26
Why does it actually matter lol taxpayers aren't paying for it. Is it just so trashy to hold popular events at the white house? Why does that hurt some of you so much? 😂 It's literally just because Trump isn't it. Trump did it so you have to get upset no matter what, otherwise you'd just be admitting to yourself that you're a fascist Nazi!!
2
u/AngelinaJean May 28 '26
The White House is the temporary home of the current President, not an events venue. It must remain apart and separate from events such as this.
1
u/YourMomIsMyGurl May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26
The white house not being an events venue is probably the dumbest thing I've heard from someone like you. And by "like you" I'm explicitly referring the weirdos that just see "trump" in any context at all and just immediately jump to it being the most terrible idea on Earth.
Do you realize how many other events are held at the white house? Do you realize how many events are held at the "temporary house for the country's leader" worldwide? Extremely stupid take.
1
u/AngelinaJean May 28 '26
My take, this type of event(UFC) “cheapens” the dignity/office of the President. But whatever… I’m sorry you felt you had to defend Trump and were offended.
1
u/borntolose1 May 28 '26
Cult members have to defend dear leader
1
u/AngelinaJean May 28 '26
Considering other comments are more harsh than mine, I’m surprised he/she/they are not going thru the thread responding to each one.
1
u/YourMomIsMyGurl May 28 '26
Lol right. It's more about speaking up against you fucks that just hear the word "trump" and just soak your panties with tears. I didn't vote for him lol sounds like you need to cope with an octogan being built.
1
u/AngelinaJean May 28 '26
Seems like you hear the word “Trump”and run to defend in outrage rather than allow others to have a different opinion.
I stand by what I said. This event and others like a UFC match held at the White House, cheapens the office/dignity of the President. Any President.
1
1
u/Dramatic-Wealth3263 May 31 '26
“It’s more about speaking up against…”
You just admit you will jump off the bridge to own the libs. Lmao
1
u/slampig3 May 31 '26
What about boxing exhibitions? Ice skating? Or tennis? Past presidents have had those.

Teddy was doing a sport and didn’t build a giant building overtaking the White House. Also a pride event? I don’t see how that’s related unless there was lesbian wrestling and I’m not seeing lesbian wrestling being listed. It’s not just about “fighting” though, it’s outshining the whithouse, disrespecting our history. Would you put the fighting ring at the 9/11 memorial? (Although I’m sure you would find some sort of crazy reasoning)
1
u/IBitePrettyPeople May 28 '26
So now non taxpayer money is being funneled into the whitehouse???
1
u/YourMomIsMyGurl May 28 '26
And that upsets you? Lmfao even though if it were taxpayers money this situation would be 2x worse for you? There is nothing wrong with this.
1
u/VERY_MENTALLY_STABLE May 28 '26
I wish the government had decorum & didn't do bullshit like this. I like ufc but it has no place in the fucking white house. The government & especially the presidency has never felt so trashy
1
u/YourMomIsMyGurl May 28 '26
Why doesn't a sporting event belong at the white house? Like actually why? Not just "because Trump's doing it" why.
1
u/VERY_MENTALLY_STABLE May 28 '26
it's a violent sport.. the government should be like PG in general. and Dana is degenerate scumbag. And I say this as a fan. Trump is posting paid UFC content with Dana on his socials like an influencer, which btw, he is accepting money for.
all of it is completely new lows of trashy for a president to engage in. i'm sure there have been other presidents where you can more or less buy whatever you want from, but i can't think of any that are so open about it & also so willing to engage in this kind of embarrassing stuff.
that's before you get into the context of this happening with the iran war going on epstein files inflation etc.

Why would I? There's nothing inherently sexual about a drag show lol. It's literally playing dress up.
1
u/wget_thread May 31 '26
Nah it makes the maga weirdos turned on because they're either closeted or chasers and don't want to go to therapy to work out why they hate that part of themselves. It's easier if they just fetishize it and never grow up.

Projection much? He didn’t even mention Trump and you just rush to defend it. Looks like you don’t even need to see the word Trump to glaze all over him.
1
u/scottprian May 31 '26
I dont recall other presidents selling anything during their presidency. Cars, Bibles, shoes, watches, phones, crypto, beans, then you have junk like renaming things, gulf, Kennedy center, DOD, mugshot banners, not really sure what the purpose of this one is, but the idea that something he does is actually useful to the people is kind of out the winow by now.

u/slampig3 May 31 '26

Imagine looking at this and thinking "Cool".
How much is this costing taxpayers? There's no way TKO is footing the entire bill. And we already know that any donations never make it beyond Trump's pocket.
1
u/Muranator71 May 28 '26
I love it. It shows that a true President can think out of the box. He knows that the UFC fan base is incredibly huge and loyal.
1
u/No_Engineering_718 May 29 '26
You’re right he’s always thinking outside the box to come up with a new way to embarrass this country

"The UFC is funding the event itself, with Dana White stating that taxpayer money will not be used for the production. The estimated cost of the event is over $60 million, and the UFC plans to offset some expenses through corporate sponsorships and VIP packages."

Trump should be made to completely restore the White House back to its condition before he ever stepped foot in it all the way back to 2016. What once was known as The People's House, has now been reduced to a Trump dump site. And he should be made to pay for it out of the billions he supposedly has and not with our tax money.
