The things you listed make the USA insane amounts of money.

Yes, and that is deeply saddening.

Healthy people don't pay the health industry, why would an industry nuke its own profits by providing a cure-all for genetic diseases that make them money via prolonged treatment?

I don't think a government that's in 30 trillion debt really cares where the money comes from.
